Required outputs: Functional

• Contributes to and gives effect to DetNet company strategy as a member of the Exco.
• Identify and manage key financial risks ensuring effective management thereof. Acts as the Risk Champion of the organisation.
• Support the framework of internal controls and delegation of authorities.
• Provide direction to the finance department, and provide training and share knowledge where required.
• Ensure that the accounting systems and internal controls work effectively to provide accurate, timely and meaningful financial information.
• Develop and maintain systems of internal control to safeguard the financial assets of the organisation.
• Assist Marketing in determining the selling prices of DetNet’s products and systems to ensure profitability.
• Coordinate the activities of the internal and external auditors.
• Prepare the Annual Financial Statements in accordance with IFRS.
• Attend Board and Audit Committee meetings.
• Monitor banking activities of the organisation and ensure adequate cash flow to meet the financial responsibilities.
• Responsible for ensuring that the annual tax return and supporting schedules are submitted to the South African Revenue Service and to AECI Tax for inclusion in the tax pack.
• Liaise with the South African Reserve Bank concerning foreign loan and interest matters, as well as supplier payments.
• Ensure that the company is adequately insured through the AECI Insurers.
• Responsible for coordinating and preparing the Joint Ventures’ budget and forecasting process. Obtain input from respective areas and ensure that the information received are valid and accurate.
• Report financial results to management, the board of directors and shareholders (Dyno Nobel and AECI) within the deadlines.
• Liaise with joint venture shareholders and channels on a regular basis to enable DetNet to operate within the respective financial frameworks.
• Champion the legal compliance universe applicable to DetNet.

Requirements

• Qualifications and expertise required (Must)
• CA (SA) or similar (ACMA, ACCA) with 5 – 10 years post article experience.
