    Job description

    Job Purpose:

    To provide an independent, objective assurance and consulting service to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of operation of the Council's Information Technology Systems.

    Key Responsibility Areas:

    • Audits the Information Technology systems in terms of the Audit Plan and reports on findings.
    • Compiles and references audit working papers.
    • Supervises the activities of the junior staff.
    • Undertakes the independent extraction and interrogation of data from IT systems.
    • Advises on the implementation of adequate procedures and controls and compliance with IT policy.
    • Provides a technical consulting service.
    • Conducts Forensic Audits in accordance with the service level agreement with the Office of the Ombudsperson.
    • Keep up to date with current legislation and policy as it affects internal audit profession and the IT field.
    •  Provides administrative support to the Senior Manager (Computer Audit).
    • Assists in the recruitment of subordinates’ staff as directed.

    Essential Requirements

    • Relevant 3 year degree or diploma related to Information Technology.
    • Valid motor vehicle drivers license (Code B).
    • 5 years experience in information technology and computer auditing.
    • Strong organisational, leadership, investigation, interpersonal, report writing and communication skills.

    Preferred Requirements:

    • CISA 6 Years relevant experience

    Job description

    Job Purpose:

    To provide a total management function, strategic professional and specialist service for the establishment and operation of the Beachfront Management Office, including planning and implementation of projects as they relate to eThekwini Beach Nodes.

    Key Responsibility Areas:

    • Researches and develops a beachfront management strategy to support the City in managing and operating the 25 beach nodes across eThekwini Municipality's coastline.
    • Identifies and defines the immediate, short and long term objectives/plans associated with the Cluster and its Units Economic Development, City Planning, Environmental Management and Tourism Development Projects functionality.
    • Directs and controls the Key Performance Indicators and outcomes of personnel.
    • Prepares the Office's capital and operational budget estimates and controls and oversees the financial performance against the Budget and provides input into the determination of provisions required to support Cluster outcomes.
    • Ensures the optimum functioning of all the facilities, services and resources within the eThekwini Municipality's beach nodes.
    • Directs critical processes associated with the development of programmes and projects for the sustainability of interventions.
    • Drafts reports and relevant documentation.
    • Develops a Social Media plan, prepares regular newsletters, launches a website, prepares all communication presentations and engages with the private sector stakeholders represented within the beach nodes.

    Essential Requirements:

    Job Purpose:

    To ensure that the water and sanitation services and infrastructure provided within the particular area technically sound and economically justifiable in terms of eThekwini Municipality's capital works programme requirements and in terms of relevant legislation and policy.

    Key Responsibility Areas:

    • Manages Water and Sanitation projects through various project phases: Design Management, Contract   Management, Reporting, Community Liaison and Technical and Policy Meeting.
    • Ensures that the services provided are technically correct, economically justifiable and meets eThekwini municipality's capital works programme requirements.
    • Assists the executive in its submission to the council for inclusion in the council's capital work programme, which includes monitoring and controlling project expenditure.

    Essential Requirements:

    • Undertakes comparative evaluations of various complex design possibilities and ensures design standards comply with the relevant Statutory Acts and are environmentally acceptable.
    • Peruse and comments on technical reports and provides information to update the Council's Geographic Information System (GIS) and other relevant asset databases.
    • Assumes responsibility for contract management and reporting requirements associated with the functionality.
    •  Provides input into policy, design and standards formulation and materials evaluation, and monitors the application in light thereof.
    • Assists the Executive in its submission to the Council for inclusion into the Council's capital works programme and to monitor and control project expenditure.
    • Ensures optimum utilisation and development of the available manpower.

    Job Purpose:

    To control professional and technical procedures to address the engineering requirements of internal/external clients.

    • Registration as a Professional Engineering Technologist (Pr. Techno.) with the Engineering Council of South Africa; plus Internal Assessment.
    • Valid motor vehicle drivers licence (Code B or EB).

    Special Conditions:

    Appointment or progression to Senior Engineering Technologist level will be subject to applicants achieving the required number of credits that would be deemed as a pass in the Internal Assessment Test.
