    Job description

    Applications are invited for the above position based in the Engineering Department at the production plant in Port Elizabeth. The successful candidate will report to the Maintenance Foreman.

    Key Performance Areas would include, but are not limited to:

    • Repairs and maintenance to machinery and equipment in line with prescribed regulations and standards;
    • Regular inspections, fault finding and preventative maintenance jobs;
    • Innovation and business improvements in support of operational and segment goals;
    • Implemented initiatives of business plans;
    • Turning, milling, welding and fitting for fabrication of components;
    • Participate in the mini-business activities (E2);
    • Adhering to relevant health, risk and safety regulations and quality standards.

    The successful candidate must have the following qualification(s), experience and skills:

    • Qualified trade tested Artisan (Section 13 or Section 26D preferable) and/or Millwright;
    • Minimum N3 qualification;
    • Relevant working experience as a Fitter and Turner and/or Millwright;
    • At least 2 years working experience in a similar role within an FMCG environment;
    • Working experience with high speed bottling machinery will be advantagous;
    • Ability to work accurately and according to precise measurements and specifications;
    • Competent in turning, milling, argon and arc welding;
    • Competent in pneumatics and hydraulics;
    • Reflect good leadership behaviour - towards colleagues, superior and company values;
    • Able to do in depth problem solving and fault finding;
    • Able to cope with the inherent physical demands of the position;
    • Able to work shifts, on weekends and/or flexible hours;

    Apprenticeship: Millwright

    Job description

    We would like to offer external candidates the opportunity to join an 18 month apprenticeship programme based at Greenpark , Secondary Production. The successful applicant will report to the Engineering Manager

    Position Description

    This exciting entry level career opportunity is suited to a highly motivated, hardworking, committed individual who is reliable, punctual and determined to succeed. The successful candidate will be expected to enter into a contract commencing on 1 October 2017.

    Key Performance Areas would include, but are not limited to:

    • Undergoing training in the trade of the Millwright apprenticeship and to qualify as an Artisan;
    • Participating in the apprenticeship training programme;
    • Delivery quality work at all times; and
    • Performing allocated duties.

    The successful candidate must preferably have the following skills and qualifications:

    Educational Requirements

    • Matric with Maths and Science
    • Must have completed N3 - N6 in Engineering studies with an aggregate of 75% and above.

    Skills Requirements

    • Good technical problem solving skills;
    • Have proven verbal and written communication skills;
    • Ability to work under pressure;
    • Attention to detail (meticulous and accurate); and
    • Sound knowledge of safety regulations and procedures.

    Additional Requirements

    • Own reliable transport;
    • Work extended hours as and/or when required;
    • Willingness to be utilised at different Distell sites.
