The above opportunity exists for energetic and self-motivated individuals to join our National Marketing Department based in Johannesburg (Gauteng).  The position will primarily focus on maximising the returns from the sales of Starke Ayres’ approved range of seed products within the specified product portfolio (Tomatoes / Peppers / Brinjals).

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Evaluates Starke Ayres’ seed product range on an ongoing basis and recommend new cultivar introductions to, and deletions from, the product range
• Develop and implement product and marketing strategies and provide specialized product and marketing input
• Develop long-term relationships with strategic customers and regularly visits current and potential customers and ensure continuous communication is maintained.
• Compile financial- and unit budgets and monitor unit sales of products on an ongoing basis.
• Identify the national product / technical training needs of sales staff and coordinate the implementation of a sustained national product training programme.
• Provide technical and sales support for sales teams on the relevant crops

Requirements
REQUIREMENTS:

• BSc degree in Agriculture / Horticulture
• (Honours / Masters degree an added advantage)
• Minimum 3 - 5 years’ experience in the vegetable and turfgrass seed industry
• A solid background in providing technical support within a marketing and sales environment will be required.
• Financial Acumen and computer literacy (intermediate level) essential

The above position has become available to join our Finance Department in Epping. Reporting to the Accounts Payable Supervisor, this role is responsible for preparing, processing, and maintaining all documentation from the Company's creditors and growers and submitting the same for payment promptly and timeously, within the framework of the Company policy as determined from time to time.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Opens new creditors accounts as and when necessary.
• Converts GI’s into invoices daily
• Matches all GI’s, Delivery Notes, Invoices, and Purchase Orders to the relevant Statement, ensuring that all purchases are properly authorized and coded to the correct general ledger code.
• Processes invoices for payment. Payment batch preparation and upload to bank
• Consolidates creditor's invoices/cheques/drafts with remittance advice and prepares same for mailing.
• Resolves Creditor account payment queries
• Reconciles all creditor's accounts to the Creditor's Ledger as well as to the creditor's statement on a monthly basis.
• Matching all grower payment documentation, ensuring that all documentation is properly authorized
• Posting of Regional and National Accounting information, thereby assisting the accountant in the preparation of the monthly financial statements.

Requirements
REQUIREMENTS:

• Matric with Accountancy as a subject
• Relevant certificate in Bookkeeping or Finance will be advantageous.
• 2-3 years of creditors experience
• Aptitude for figures
• Computer literacy essential – MS Word and Excel
• Knowledge of SAGE would be an advantage

The above position has become available for our Eastern Retail Region in our Sales Department based in Port Shepstone. This role will primarily focus on the promotion and sales of products in the area, reporting into the Regional Sales Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

•  Consistently achieves monthly, quarterly and annual sales targets.
• Maximizes opportunities for closing a sale and drives market penetration.
• Identifies priority products for his/her area, phased annually, seasonally and monthly.
• Identifies priority customers in line with the priority products in his/her area.
• Is responsible for formulating a customer sales plan. Implements and monitors such a strategy on a weekly and monthly basis.
• Canvasses existing and potential customers regularly in accordance with pre-determined sales routes, calling cycles and appointments.
• Updates existing and potential customers regularly with regard to product information, price lists, specials etc.
• Promotes priority products based on customer needs and product benefits.
• Identifies promotion/advertising needs in his/her sales area.
• Participates actively in the planning and conducting of exhibition and show-displays and in-store promotions.
• Distributes/shares promotion and advertising material such as product profiles, brochures, leaflets, bulletins, posters, display boards and product samples.
• Packs out all deliveries received onto the shop floor.
• Merchandizes and manages shelf space and displays in outlets (Correct pricing, correct PI labels, relevant and sufficient facings, proper rotation - LIFO, expired stock removal, etc).
• Sourcing prime spots and erecting stands during key selling seasons.

Description

Two General Worker position has become available at our Rosebank Garden Centre.

The purpose of these roles is:

•  To assist the Receiving Clerk (Shop) in receiving and processing of stock delivered by Suppliers, transfer of goods to the sales area, and general up keep of the store room,
•  Cleans the grounds and ensures the general tidiness in and around the nursery.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assisting with the watering of plants where required o Repacking and restocking of stock where required
• Cleans grounds of the property and ensures general tidiness of the Garden Centre, sales floor, parking lot, exterior verge, and general work areas,
• Ensures cleanliness of guttering and stormwater drainage channels,
• Sweeping / Blowing of allocated areas of the Garden Centre and surrounds,
• Assists with general care of all Nursery stock,
• Assists with general housekeeping of the loading bay and loading bay exterior,
• Supports loading bay assistants with offloading, pricing stock, and taking stock to the sales floor
• Assist with loading goods for deliveries,
• Accompany the driver on deliveries where assistance is required,
• Assist with keeping the company vehicle clean and tidy.
• Support all sales staff where necessary
• Perform support duties on weekends when required (Bulk stock, trolley management)
