    Post Basic Qualified Pharmacist Assistant - New Market - Fixed Term Contract

    Dis-Chem Pharmacies require the services of a reputable Post Basic Qualify Pharmacist Assistant for their New Market  store. Your portfolio will cover the provision of pharmaceutical care by taking responsibility for the patient's medicine-related needs, and being accountable for meeting these needs.

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Grade 12 / Matric
    • Basic Pharmacist Assistance qualification
    • Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC)
    • Working experience on Unisolv
    • Computer literate – MS Office
    • Sound numerical skills
    • Strong command of the English language and a second language
    • Willing and able to work retail hours 

    Advantageous:

    • Knowledge of Retail/ FMCG operations
    • 3rd Additional Language
    • Knowledge of or experience in SAP and E-Scripting
    • Drug and family planning, and complementary medicine

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Assist with the sale of Schedule 1 and Schedule 2 medicines or scheduled substances
    • Assist with the compounding, manipulation or preparation of a non-sterile medicine or scheduled substance according to a formula and standard operating procedures approved by the responsible pharmacist
    • Assist with the manufacturing of a non-sterile medicine or scheduled substance according to a formula and standard operating procedures approved by the responsible pharmacist
    • Assist with re-packaging of medicine
    • Assist with the distribution and control of the stock of Schedule 1 to Schedule 5 medicines or scheduled substances
    • Assist with the ordering of medicine and scheduled substances up to, and including, Schedule 6 according to an instruction of a person authorised in terms of the Medicines Act to purchase or obtain such medicine or scheduled substance
    • Assist with the reading and preparation of a prescription’ the selection, manipulation or compounding of the medicine; the labelling and supply of the medicine, in an appropriate container following the interpretation and evaluation of the prescription by a pharmacist
    • Accurately interpret scripts and act in a professional and responsible manner and within the legal requirements in accordance with the SAPC
    • Capture script details accurately, and verify patients’ details on the system
    • Ensure accurate picking /packing/labelling and checking of medication and be aware of common dosages as well as important drug interactions
    • Give accurate instructions to patients regarding the correct use of medicine supplied
    • Keep abreast of changes in medical aid procedures and requirements for claims and dispensing
    • Ensure all medications are checked for accuracy by and signed by a pharmacist
    • Advise and assist patients at the dispensary, self-medication and front-shop
    • Follow up with patients regarding script tracking report as requested by the dispensary manager, and follow up on appointments
    • Explain medical aid costs to patients
    • Provide information to individuals in order to promote health
    • Process all paperwork necessary for the accurate submission of claims to medical aids
    • Correct errors on scripts rejected by medical aid
    • Ensure authorisation of chronic, HIV and AIDS and oncology medication
    • Maintain customer profiles on the system
    • Merge profiles locally and UCS should be notified to merge profiles centrally
    • Take note of any message on the customer profile, and take suitable action
    • Report on low / out of stock levels, and stock errors to the dispensary manager
    • Receive dispensary stock in accordance with Dis-Chem’s SOPs, and merchandise according to FEFO
    • Facilitate bi-annual stock takes
    • Exercise stock, cash and asset control

    Store Health Manager - Boksburg North

    Dis-Chem Pharmacies has an opportunity available for a Store Health Manager for it's Boksburg North Store. The purpose of the role is to manage the health division within the store, this entails stock control, working towards achieving sales targets, managing in-store promotions, implementing head office initiatives.

    Minimum Requirements:

    Essential:

    • Grade 12 / Matric
    • Minimum of 3 years’ retail and sales experience
    • Minimum of 1-year experience in supervision/management of a staff complement of between 3 and 8 people
    • Computer literate – MS Office

    Advantageous:

    • Qualification within the health focus category
    • Relevant experience in the vitamins, supplements and health food industry
    • SAP experience
    • Qlikview experience

    Job Specification:

    • Direct and support sales staff under the guidance of the Blue Crane Ridge and in accordance with the Dis-Chem policies, procedures and retail working practices.
    • Ensure implementation of Head office, Regional Manager and Regional Health Manager Strategy and initiatives.
    • Manage staff member performance through the performance management system.
    • Ensure the Health Division is adequately staffed at all times, and establish an appropriate work roster.
    • Manage all in-store promoters for the department.
    • Manage and address customer compliments and complaints.
    • Serve customers and implement a high standard of customer care and service.
    • Maintain merchandising and displays, to ensure a high standard of cleanliness.
    • Ensure all goods are correctly priced and labelled.
    • Working towards achieving department, vendor, brand, products and sales objectives.
    • Ensure monthly promotions are implemented effectively to maximise its objectives.
    • Maintain optimal stock levels through effective planning, monitoring and ordering of stock.
    • Manage sales representatives and direct supplier orders.
    • Ensure proper stock rotation to prevent the stock from expiring.
    • Manage back shopping in the designated areas.
    • Be accountable and manage stock control through effective planning and ordering of stock in collaboration with Dis-Chem’s warehouse and suppliers.
