    Transport Manager - Bojanala Platinum

    Our client in the Transport Industry is looking for a Transport Manager to join their Mahikeng branch. 
    The incumbent will manage 3 operating centers ensuring a safe and reliable bus service.

    Key requirement

    • Minimum 10 years experience working in the Transport sector 
    • Transport Management degree/Diploma
    • Proven 5 year management of the finance, operations, technical, Human resource and security departments is a pre-requisite
    • Full understanding of the DOT tender contract and regulations
    • Expert knowledge of technical regulations related to passenger transport
    • Experience in scheduling bus routes, vehicle maintenance and employee management
    • Strong budgeting experience
    • Experience in working with a variety of GPS tracking, incident monitoring, video and incident applications
    • Cartrack experience advantageous 

    Key function

    • Develop and monitor operations and capital budgets
    • Direct accountability of the Opex and Capex budget and tracking of all expenditures for the operating centers
    • Manage, coach and develop a high performing team that meets agreed objectives and deliver best practice results, targets and continuous improvement
    • Provide meaningful operational data, interpret trends and analyze and review data to aid preparation of monthly, quarterly reports
    • Ensure adherence to Company finance policies and procedures
    • Ensure implementation of a preventative maintenance system to improve bus availability
    • Drive all safety, health and environmental policies and procedures to create a safe workplace for all and meet legislative requirements

    Head of Finance - Tshwane

    Purpose of Position

    • Responsible for all Financial and Controlling matters in South Africa.

    Location

    • The role is office-based in Pretoria with some national/international travel.

    Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

    • Accounting & Financial Control
      • Ownership and responsibility for the financial accounting and reporting of South Africa business; ensuring timely, accurate and comprehensive information to the Group and key stakeholders of the business in accordance with the Group’s Finance Manual.
      • Responsible for ensuring that the control environment is in place and robust across all areas of the business. To be seen as the face of Finance in South Africa with an independent reporting responsibility on all matters relating to the control environment.
      • Collaboration with the Financial Shared Service Centre to ensure that all shared service transactional activities for South Africa are optimally executed.
      • Responsible for working with Group Tax and Treasury to ensure adequate working capital and repatriation of profits where appropriate, including preparation of monthly cash-flow forecasts.
      • Responsible all tax submissions and payments.
      • To act as the Public Officer for the legal entity.
      • Coordination of year end statutory accounts and audits for South Africa ensuring timely and accurate completion.
      • Responsibility to be informed of local laws and legislation which impact on the business including tax and to take action to ensure changes are made to systems and processes as needed.
    • Leadership
      • Lead the Finance team within South Africa with responsibility for determining and organising the scope of work for all members of the team.
      • Build and drive a high performing Finance team; setting stretching objectives, creating alignment to strategy and effectively communicating, engaging and influencing the team
      • Create a great place to work for the Finance team; enable your team to fulfil their potential, build trust and confidence, challenge the status quo and maximise training and development opportunities to continually grow and improve on what we do
      • Ensure teams’ objectives and priorities are set up in consultation with stream finance to ensure alignment. Where local resourcing gaps or requirements are identified, pro-actively discuss them with both regional and stream finance functions to ensure quick and efficient resolution.
    • Business Partnering
      • Acting as a finance business partner to the Stream business leadership team of South Africa providing insightful data and challenge to enable the business to make effective decisions aligned to the Strategic objectives.
      • Act as a finance business partner to other business leader as required
      • Responsibility for preparation and submission of budgets, forecasts and strategic plans built in consultation with business leaders, stream finance teams and the Financial Controller.
    • Support all streams, sectors and functions in South Africa
      • Providing support and services as needed to the global stream finance teams of all streams and to work collaboratively with colleagues in all countries, streams and sectors ensuring that alignment is maintained on the agreed objectives of the business and that the South Africa finance team is kept up to date with stream and sector requirements
      • Recognising that from time to time stream and sector priorities or escalation routes might be different, anticipate that certain finance tasks might require different approaches and/or inputs, therefore train and allocate resources in consultation with stream and sector finance accordingly.
    • Complete and regularly update strategic workforce plans in consultation with group, regional, sector and stream finance to help plan local resources within a matrix organisation

    • Strong communication skills with the ability to relay financial information to the required stakeholders, solve conflicts and negotiate
