    Regulatory Affairs Intern

    A Day in the Life

    • The purpose of the position is to ensure regulatory compliance for the region of responsibility, managing projects and assignments to ensure that Medtronic therapies are approved. Enabler for internal customers.

    Internship details:

    • Start date: 4 November 2024
    • Duration: 12 months
    • Location: Johannesburg
    • Working hours: 40 h/week

    Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:

    • Support in coordination and preparation of document packages for regulatory submissions from all Operating Units and departments for countries across the region
    • Support in compiling all materials required in submissions, license renewal and annual registrations
    • Network across departments to ensure that products are approved for the market
    • Monitor and improves tracking/control systems
    • Perform post market requirements

    Required knowledge:

    • Recently graduated with a degree in Logistics, Management or Regulatory Affairs

    Strategic Accounts Director Africa & CEE

    A Day in the Life

    • The role of Strategic Accounts Director will be to develop a robust strategy for strategic accounts in the region and design differentiated pan-Medtronic value propositions utilizing our portfolio’s scale and depth by analyzing and assessing the markets, accounts and the industry’s competitive dynamics.

    Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:

    • Develops and drives appropriate portfolio management strategy for both public and private market accounts in collaboration with Countries and Clusters to expand and protect market share, optimize pricing strategy, and build long-term contractual agreements and relationships with clients and strategic partners
    • Supports regional/local SAA leads on implementing pan-Medtronic value proposition in their countries, particularly on complex/cross-boarder accounts, as needed
    • Responsible for developing and maintaining Senior/C-Suite level relationships with strategic partners and working with them to identify and qualify new business opportunities
    • Supports SAA account segmentation, review and update annually
    • Advises regional SAMs on their analysis of market trends, entry barriers, competition, risks, and the accounts resources and constraints with the purpose to identify new growth acceleration opportunities
    • Implements strategies to accelerate growth in strategic accounts
    • Identifies and develops ongoing mutual opportunities for sales growth with key strategic accounts.
    • Supports the roll out of new processes, best practices and acceleration tools in the region developed by SAA COE

    Required Knowledge and Experience:

    • Master’s degree (preferably) in business science, medicine or equivalent
    • Minimum of 10 years relevant sales experience for a bachelor’s degree or minimum 8 years with an advanced degree. Business management experience in senior and complex roles.
    • Previous experience working in a regulated industry in Medical Device, Healthcare or Pharma in a multinational environment with a significant matrix component. Proven track record of developing talent and leading a team through change.
    • Customer and market knowledge: Understands Medtronic's portfolio and industry trends, anticipating changes and addressing customer needs. Possesses commercial acumen to develop long-term deals.
    • Influential Leadership and relationship management: Builds strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including C-Suite executives, as well as administrative decision-makers, aligning value propositions with consumer needs. Demonstrates adaptability and experience in organizational change.
    • Value co-creation and delivery: Customizes value offerings to meet customer needs, driving growth and enhancing customer experience by leveraging internal capabilities.
    • Project and Stakeholder Management: Manages large, complex projects involving diverse stakeholders, demonstrating strong commercial acumen and P&L responsibility.
    • Exhibits excellent strategic thinking, negotiation, and financial skills.
    • Fluency in English and local language is required.
    • Travel requirement: Min 40% within CEE and Africa.

    Quality System Specialist, South Africa

    Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:

    • Act as a first point of contact on Quality for the local distribution / sales office leadership team and employees; representing the local “voice of the customer” to the Global Quality teams.
    • Build knowledge of local process owners, support detailed process implementation, and use of Quality tools while establishing and documenting local processes to meet local regulations.
    • Manage ISO (International Organization for Standardization) certification activities for applicable standards of ISO 13485:2016, and provide expertise and guidance in interpreting policies, regulatory and/or governmental regulations, and internal regulations to assure compliance.
    • Prepare Quality update meetings to review and discuss with local distribution / sales office Quality Performance (Key Performance Indicators) and ensure follow up and audit readiness preparation.
    • Provide Quality support to outsourced process suppliers (Medtronic requirement sharing, conducting Management Reviews and Quality Walks, managing Supplier Corrective Preventive Actions, Change Control etc.), and ensuring the Quality management of local suppliers, distributors, and original equipment manufacturers.
    • Support business model changes (go-direct initiatives, new activities assessment, local labelling, etc.).
    • Increase awareness on Quality topics and embed a Quality mindset in the organization to put patients first and support local organizations on identifying improvement areas.

    Required Knowledge and Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Management, or similar.
    • Min 2 years of relevant work experience in a highly regulated environment (for example: Pharmaceutical, Medical Technology, Automotive or in a Logistical operational environment).
    • Knowledge and experience with ISO standards (ISO 9001 / ISO 13485).
    • Excellent command of the English languages both verbal and written.

    Assistant Controller – South Africa

    Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:

    • Demonstrate a broad and in-depth understanding of Accounting and Finance processes and policies for USGAAP and local GAAP.     • Be able to lead local projects and collaborate in EMEA wide projects, collaborate on EMEA wide value-stream initiatives
    • Operate with the highest of ethical standards
    • Ability to operate and influence within a complex organization, build and develop a high performing controlling team

    Required Knowledge and Experience:
