    Office Administration Intern (X1)

    The College of Humanities Student Support Services division seeks to employ a suitably qualified Office Administration intern for its Pietermaritzburg offices. The incumbent will be responsible for maintaining student counsellor dairies, scheduling appointments, responding
    to student, staff and public enquiries via email and telephone, coordinating student emergency responses and interventions, record-keeping and filing, duties relating to staff meetings, communication on the University notice system, data management, and general office management. The incumbent must be able to work well under pressure and as part of a team.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    •  Honours degree in Social Sciences or Arts, with psychology or a cognate discipline as a major
    •  Knowledge and skill in working with Microsoft Office programmes, especially Word, Excel and PowerPoint
    •  South African citizen below the age of 35 years

    SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

    •  Proficiency in isiZulu will be an advantage
    •  Good communication skills
    •  Good organisational skills
    •  Knowledge and experience with online platforms will be an advantage

    Web Intern ( X1)

    The College of Humanities Public Relations Office seeks to appoint a Web Intern to support the College Web Administrator for a six months fixed term contract. The incumbent will assist with the implementation and maintenance of high-quality College, School, Department, Unit and Centre websites and social media platforms in consultation with the College Web Administrator and Corporate Relations Division, to ensure easy access to accurate information that is aligned with the objectives of the College and UKZN. He/she will also be expected to assist with ad hoc PR activities as directed.

    Minimum Requirements:

    •  A Bachelor’s degree in a Computer Science/IT/ Digital Marketing or related field.
    •  Demonstrable knowledge of web page design through the use of a content management system (WordPress, Sitefinity and SharePoint).
    •  Knowledge of website administration, content generation, web analytics and graphics design.
    •  Knowledge of programming, content management systems, both Macintosh and PC environments
    •  Knowledge of digital marketing trends and technologies (Facebook, Google Adwords, Email etc).

    Advantages:

    •  Formal education (short courses) in graphics/ DTP/ computer applications.
    •  Knowledge of managing social media platforms.
    •  A relevant Honours degree in Computer Science/IT/Digital Marketing.

    Academic Services Interns

    Student Academic Administration

    •  Applications and Admissions: Guiding, checking and attending to enquiries such as applications and admissions (check for admission status);
    •  Assist with applications and registration: undergraduate (UG), Local and International and support potential/students regarding admissions registrations, examination and graduation;
    •  Liaising and preparing documentation for submission to external stakeholders such as Universities of South African (USAF).

    Client Service

    •  Support students with online and manual registration, change of curriculum, examination and graduation, emails and telephone queries
    •  Advising on and directing students to the University General Academic Regulations and Student Rules, College Rules as well as other University policies;
    •  Engage with relevant stakeholders;

    Student Records

    •  Maintaining and updating students’ milestones such as registration, examination and graduation;
    •  Verifying of students’ records, curriculum and academic level;

    Minimum Requirements

    •  Matriculation / Grade 12 / Senior Certificate
    •  A relevant Bachelor’s degree in the specialization discipline

    Research Assistance Intern

    The School of Applied Human Sciences comprises the disciplines of Psychology, Social Work, Criminology and Forensic Studies, and Culture, Communication and Media Studies. The Schoolof Applied Human Sciences offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes. The School of Applied Human Sciences seeks to appoint research assistants to the Howard College and Pietermaritzburg Campuses.     Administration Officer Intern

    The incumbent will be placed in the School Office and s/he will provide administrative support to the Deanery within the School. The incumbent will work closely with the School Operations Manager, Finance Officer, and the Disciplines of Criminology,
    Culture Communication and Media Studies (CCMS), Psychology and Social Work. S/he will need to be diplomatic, have the ability to pay attention to detail and be able to work under pressure. The incumbent will report directly to the School Operations Manager.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    • Honours Degree in Social Science or Arts
    •  Knowledge and skill in working with the MS Office package, including MS Teams
    •  Knowledge of University processes and structures
