    Residential Security Coordinator

    Duties

    Incumbent provides administrative oversight of post's residential security program. Serves as the point of contact on all residential security matters between the RSO, General Service Office (GSO), Facilities Maintenance (FAC), and landlords. Conducts security surveys of all current housing to ensure residential security standards are maintained and conducts security surveys on all proposed housing to ensure security suitability can be obtained and compliance with the Overseas Security Policy Board's OSPB standards before occupancy.

    Requirements:

    EXPERIENCE: 

    • Minimum of two (2) years of office administrative experience that includes managing customer inquiries, complaints, and drafting reports and correspondence is required.

    JOB KNOWLEDGE: 

    • Knowledge of procedures related to residential security concepts, principles, and techniques.  

    Education Requirements:

    • Completion of Secondary School or Local Mandatory Schooling and received high school diploma

    Evaluations:

    LANGUAGE: English level  (Fluent) Reading/Writing/Speaking is required.

    SKILLS AND ABILITIES

    • Must be able to work independently; adhere to strict deadlines and manage residential security upgrades for all Chief of Mission (COM) residences. The incumbent must possess a valid driver's license.     Experiential Learning and American Spaces Coordinator

    Duties

    The Experiential Learning and American Spaces Coordinator works under the direct supervision of the Emerging Voices (EV) Specialist or Public Affairs Officer (PAO) designee. The position has no supervisory responsibilities. Coordinates Consulate General Cape Town Public Diplomacy (PD) outreach to EV audiences through Experiential Learning (EXPL projects) and partner American Spaces events, typically "learning through experience" activities such as tech or entrepreneurship camps, music and sports programs, journalism training, and other focused community engagement programs. Designs, develops, identifies co-sponsors and funding sources for, plans, and oversees a range of outreach activities at American Spaces and other external venues in support of Mission goals. Responsible for the day-to-day oversight, management, and operations of partner American Spaces in the consular district. Provides guidance, coaching, and mentorship to American Space liaisons and staff.

    Requirements:

    EXPERIENCE: 

    • A minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in a multilingual,multicultural, multinational, government, or museum environment with marketing, public relations, communication, or education duties as a significant part of the job is required.

    Education Requirements:

    • University Degree in communications, international relations, intercultural/multicultural studies, arts management, marketing, or local equivalent is required.

    LANGUAGE: 

    Level 4 (Fluent) Speaking/Reading/Writing English is required and Level 4 (Fluent) Speaking/Reading/Writing one additional South African official language is required.

    Office Management Assistant (WAE)

    Duties

    Reports to various offices throughout the consulate and provide temporary office and clerical coverage as needed. As directed by section officers, duties may include routine clerical and administrative functions: i.e., draft correspondence, diplomatic notes and demarches; type reports and cables; prepare briefing books and talking points; answer telephones and screen calls; take accurate messages; meet and escort visitors and work crews; sort and distribute mail; organize and maintain paper and electronic filing systems; schedule and take notes at meetings; schedule appointments; and perform other administrative support functions.

    Requirements:

    EXPERIENCE:  

    • Two years' experience in an office or support-supply operations that required use of forms and record-keeping documentation, and the application of detailed guidelines is required

    Strategic Content & Digital Production Coordinator

    Duties

    The Strategic Content & Digital Production Coordinator works under the direct supervision of the Strategic Content Coordinator or Consulate General Cape Town Public Affairs Officer (PAO) or PAO designee, and has no supervisory responsibilities. Is responsible for the production of all visual and multimedia elements of Consulate General Cape Town's public engagement, including design, creation, and acquisition of customized visual and multimedia content that is disseminated online, in person, or via traditional broadcast. Creates compelling visual content for all Consulate outreach materials by assessing visual aspects of the South African media environment, public preferences for visual content formats and dissemination channels, and the impact of Consulate visual materials.

    Requirements:

    EXPERIENCE: 

    This position requires a total of at least five years of progressively responsible experience in design, creation, and packaging of visual and multimedia content for digital marketing, advertising, or mass communications purposes, including extensive experience as an advanced end-user of industry-standard desktop and mobile software applications, internet, and related communications technologies and integration of visual content into web content management systems.     Human Resources Clerk

    Duties

    The position is located in the Human Resources (HR) Office at the front desk and as such, requires the incumbent to be professional to greet and assist all visitors and callers to the office. Incumbent will be the customer service provider for all walk-ins to the HR section as well as answering phone inquiries transferred by the switchboard. Provides assistance with basic functions including but not limited to handling paper flow, preparing routine documents, logistics for events, and assuring that information is properly shared between different sections of the HR office.

    Chauffeur

    Duties

    Operation of a USG-owned or leased motor vehicle in a safe, efficient manner for the official transportation of passengers and/or cargo in the vehicle.  Functions as post messenger as directed.

    Chauffeur Responsibilities: 

    • Serves as one of several motor pool chauffeur positions, receiving work assignments via U.S. Consulate Cape Town’s form mechanism which is coordinated through the post motor pool dispatcher; usually with specific instructions and details pertaining to the transport of State and/or other Agency personnel or cargo assigned to/visiting Mission SA.
    • Operates Mission SA vehicles in the transportation of official U.S. visitors in country, either in the support of Mission SA-related activities or because these visitors are participating in an activity supported by the USG, i.e. conference/meeting participants, etc. 
    • Assumes Mission-SA duty driver responsibility on a rotational basis.  Incumbent may be required to make trips to adjacent locations and trips that require overnight stays. The driver’s primary duty station will be at the U.S. Consulate located in Cape Town.
    • Maintains vehicle in a clean and serviceable condition, to include cleaning of the vehicle's interior and washing the exterior of the vehicle.  Performs basic vehicle checks of a preventative nature in accordance with established schedules and policies.   
    • Maintains up-to-date vehicle logs as required by applicable regulations. Prepares trip reports, vehicle use and fuel logs. Estimates the fuel consumption and/or need for trips. Should have basic numerical skills.    
    • In addition to the Consul General in Cape Town, the driver may provide support for the Mission-SA Ambassador or DCM in the absence of their regularly-assigned chauffeurs as directed.
    • Safeguards U.S. Government property and uses U.S. Government resources efficiently, which includes fuel-efficient operation of the Embassy motor vehicles. 
    • Messengers Responsibilities:  To include delivery and pickup of various letters, packages and newspapers for State and other USG agencies resident at post.  Delivers customs documents for processing, pick up driver's licenses and vehicle tags from the License Bureau. Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications and Evaluations

    Requirements:

    EXPERIENCE:  

    • Minimum of three (3) years of professional driving experience is required.

    JOB KNOWLEDGE: 

    •  Must have a good working knowledge of the extended Cape Town metropolitan area and good knowledge of the consular district served by U.S. Consulate Cape Town and its environs, including driving routes and traffic patterns. Must be familiar with the location of hospitals, police and fire stations within assigned duty areas and immediate surroundings.
