    Research Assistant X 4 positions

    Description

    Research Assistants and Research Assistant Team Leads (Total X4 based in each District: Ehlanzeni (X2) and Thabo Mofutsanyane (X2))

    Primary Responsibilities:

    •  Assist Right SI HoD/ or other Line Supervisor as directed by HOD to provide RTC programmes, Research Projects and SI Portfolio with Research support including data collection
    • To help support RTC programmes and key stakeholders such as Department of Health and others by using appropriate tools as requested per project
    • Provide support to RTC M&E teams in a timeous and effective manner as required
    • Provide onsite supervision of Research Team
    • Driving research teams to study sites
    • Maintain Database of Appropriate Policies
    • Research dissemination and Routine reporting of daily research activities     

    Requirements

    Required qualification and Experience Education:

    • Bachelor’s level degree/ Research or related experience
    • Minimum 2 years' experience in Research
    • Proficiency in Data Collection
    • Proficiency in Excel and Word

    Enrolled Nurse Buffalo City Metro - Buffalo City

    Description

    • Conduct medical pre-screening of initiates at three months and 4 weeks prior to initiation season. 
    • Conduct Customary Male Initiation bush visits and wound care management.
    • Conduct Pre, and Post-operative care for all clients during initiation.
    • Identify, record and refer all Adverse Event to the line manager.
    • Ensure all source document are available and well utilized by the Roving team.
    • Ensure utilization of PPE materials at CMI site visits.
    • Ensure adherence to Infection Prevention and Control Standards during wound care and follow-up visits.
    • Ensure all follow-up and review of clients are conducted and documented accordingly.
    • Ensure Emergency Management/Referral Protocol are adhered to.
    • Assist in verification of all data before reporting.
    • Assist in compilation of the standardized progress report of the Roving team weekly to line Manager.
    • Review all follow-up source documents for completeness and outcome management.
    • Ensure that all the outcomes of referred clients are correctly documented.
    • Ensure that all Registers are reviewed and prepared for Department of Health quarterly submissions.
    • Assist in identification of training needs of staff and scheduling of appropriate trainings.
    • Assist in junior staff time management.
    • Supervise all counsellors and ensure adherence to VMMC SAG/WHO standards.
    • Assist in mentoring and supervision of locum staff.
    • Participate in continuous staff in-service Training/development.
    • Keep abreast with RTC Care policies.

    Requirements

    • Enrolled Nursing Diploma/Certificate
    • 2-3 Years as an Enrolled Nurse in the NGO/Community or a Hospital Environment 
    • Knowledge of HIV/AIDS
    • Experience in the surgical department, Infection Control, VMMC background.

    Clinical Associate - Bojanala Platinum

    Description

    Right To Care is looking for a suitable qualified Clinical Associate to be part of its operations in Northwest Province (Bojanala Platinum) on Permanent basis (X1).                            

    Key Performance areas 

    Program Output                                       

    • Serve as first point of contact to District VMMC site for logistics, supply, transport, demand and other relevant challenges.
    • Implement Voluntary Male Circumcision Programme (VMMC) at facility level in accordance with provincial and SA national guidelines.
    • Ensure comprehensive package of VMMC services available.
    • Maintain and respond to QA assessments.
    • Chair/attend staff meetings.
    • Ensure all Circumcised Clients are followed up as per SA/WHO guidelines.
    • Management of VMMC related adverse events effectively.
    • Obtain informed consent from clients by providing them with essential information as per the National Department of Health (NDoH) and PEPFAR VMMC/HTS guidelines.
    • Provide coaching and mentorship to Demand Creation Officers and Social Mobilisers regarding demand creation programme performance.
    • Ensure availability of suppliers and equipment’s.
    • Develop and implement planning and reporting systems for the VMMC MOVE team to ensure that they perform and reach allocated targets.
    • Ensure vehicle inspection is done weekly and report is submitted to line manager.
    • Draft an annual operational plan.
    • Working with a demand creation team draft a demand creation plan as required.

    Stakeholder Management

    • Key stakeholder engagement including participation at Sub-District and facility activities.
    • Ensure Training and mentorship of all DOH district staff on MMC program.
    • Ensure Organizational representation in all Sub-District by having activities done.
    • Participate in DOH Sub-district and facility Meetings to ensure alignment of the VMMC program with district activities.
    • Ensure and maintain cordial relationship with Sub-District and all facilities supported.

    Linkage to Care and Treatment

    •  Conduct Active and/or supported linkage to care and treatment of all newly diagnosed HIV positive clients.
    •  Ensure all clients tested HIV positive are linked to care and started treatment and record on the register accordingly
    •  Confirm that all linked clients have reached a care and treatment facility within a week of referral.

    Quality Assurance

    • Participate in internal and external quality assurance assessments. 
    • Assist the site with quality improvement activities in response to QA results.
    • Ensure all source documents are available and well utilised by the Roving team.
    • Ensure utilisation of PPE materials by all staff at the facility.
    • Ensure clinical staff conducts Medical Circumcision in line with Minimum Surgical Procedure Standards.
    • Ensure adherence to Infection Prevention and Control Standards.
    • Ensure all follow-up and review of clients are conducted and documented accordingly.

    Reporting

    • Compile and submit standardised progress report of the Roving team weekly to line Manager.
    • Review all follow-up source documents for completeness and outcome management.

    •  Ensure management of staff Time and Attendance policy.
    •  Supervise all clinical staff and ensure adherence to VMMC SAG/WHO standards.

    Business Continuity

    • Perform any other relevant and reasonable tasks which may be required from time to time.
    • Fill in for other counsellors, Admin, Nurses at sites as and when required by line management.
    • Assist in collection and delivering of clients.

    Requirements

    Required Minimum Qualifications and Experience 

    • Clinical associate degree/ Bachelor Clinical Medical Practice VMMC Training course.
    • A valid South African driver’s license endorsed with a PrDP (Professional Driving Permit) is compulsory.
    • 2-year experience in Public Health setting.
    • VMMC Certificate

    Desirable Qualifications and Experience 

    • Clinical associate degree.
    • Post graduate qualification in either of the following: HIV/ AIDS/ TB/ STI
    • Two years NGO working experience.
    • Infection Control Certificate.
    • VMMC Certificate.
    • HIV Management Certificate.

    Demand Creation Officer - North West

    Description

    Right to Care requires the services of a suitable qualified, well-motivated and results-driven candidate to be appointed in the above-mentioned vacant position based in Northwest (DR Kenneth Kaunda).

    KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

    Programme Output

    • Introduce the VMMC programme to communities and conduct profiling by means of various sources.
    • Based on the results obtained from community profiling, allocate Social Mobilisers to various supported areas by means of GIS Mapping in order to ensure proper coverage of target/pivot populations.
    • Coordinate and supervise demand creation activities performed by Social Mobilisers within various Right to Care-supported areas.
    • Schedule demand creation activities (i.e. information sessions, talks, events, etc.). aimed at promoting VMMC in designated areas (i.e. door-to-door visits, events at taxi ranks, youth clubs, malls, etc.).
    • Create appropriate demand creation training plans based on training needs analyses.
    • Engage with clinical roving teams to create accurate and proper service delivery schedules.
    • Obtain informed consent from clients by providing them with essential information as per the National Department of Health (NDoH) and PEPFAR VMMC/HTS guidelines.
    • Provide age- and culturally appropriate group and individual counselling to clients within language of their understanding.
    • Screen patients for Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) as per current STI guidelines and Tuberculosis (TB) by asking the four standard TB screening questions and refer patients accordingly.
    • Ensure that the key elements of VMMC education are included in counselling sessions (i.e. risks, benefits, description of surgery, explanation of partial protective effect of VMMC procedure, VMMC being a permanent procedure, importance of knowing HIV status, and post-operative care).
    • Conduct pre- and post-HIV counselling and testing as per most recent NDoH HTS guidelines.

    Reporting

    • Draft monthly plans for VMMC social mobilisation.
    • Draft and submit weekly reports that outline activities completed and the number of leads.

    Stakeholder Management

    • Actively engage with community leaders and structures in communities surrounding VMMC facilities to promote VMMC services and to identify demand creation opportunities.
    • Actively seek out opportunities for Social Mobilisers to participate in events and collaborate with organisations, government and/or schools for VMMC service delivery.

    Staff Management

    • Mentor Social Mobilisers by addressing their challenges and barriers that prohibit them from reaching their targets.
    • Conduct weekly performance reviews of targets reached by Social Mobilisers.

    Administration

    • Work with Demand Creation Coordinator and Booking Agent to ensure that transport is arranged for clients.
    • Submit weekly lead books to the Demand Creation Coordinator.
    • Check the accuracy of demographic and contact details specified in lead books.
    • Report the number of confirmed VMMC clients to the team leader of the roving teams at least a week prior to the procedure date.

    Business Continuity

    Requirements

    • Excellent written and verbal communication in both English and local vernaculars.

     Desirable Qualifications and Experience 

    • A Diploma in Marketing, Communications and/or Health Promotion.
    • Three to five years’ experience in organising and overseeing Health Promotion events, activities and projects in various cultural-specific contexts.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication in English and local vernaculars.
