    Editorial Assistant Intern

    Minimum Requirements;    

    • An undergraduate degree in Publishing Studies or related fields, a Post-Graduate degree will serve as an added advantage;
    • Advanced computer literacy;
    • Proficiency in English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills;
    • Proof of registration (for registered students);
    • Academic transcript
    • A commitment to excellence, attention to detail and meticulous and accurate execution of tasks;
    • Must be able to work in a diverse and multi-cultural environment.

    Duties & Responsibilities;    

    • Provide administrative duties
    • Liaise with authors, copy-editors, proofreaders, designers and printers
    • Assist in the collation of the journal, Africa Insight, and other AISA publications
    • Liaise with SCM on financial and procurement issues

    Phd Research Intern

    Minimum Requirements;   

    • Applicants must be in possession of a Master’s degree in the Social Sciences, Public Health, and Biostatistics and be registered or be eligible for registration for a Ph.D, at a recognised South African or an international equivalent institution.
    • The candidate should have an interest in gender studies, mental health and biostatistics.
    • A sound grounding in research methods and previous experience in research and data analysis will be a strong recommendation
    • Proficiency in or working experience with some of the following data software packages: STATA, SAS, Epi Info, SPSS, Nvivo, AtlasTI or other relevant statistical packages
    • Ability to work well under pressure and to meet deadlines.

    Duties & Responsibilities;    

    • In addition to being registered for a PhD degree at a recognised South African university and currently working on their degrees, or eligible for registration at a recognised South African university, research interns are required to participate in all aspects of the research process as they work with other staff on different research projects.

    Among other duties, they will participate in the following activities under supervision:

    • Support the research and research-related work of the HSC Programme
    • Assist with the conceptualisation and execution of research projects
    • Assist with the formulation of research questions and writing proposals
    • Assist with the submission of research proposals for ethical review
    • Collection and analysis of data
    • Writing up of research results, research reports and manuscripts for publication
    • Presenting research findings at conferences and other forums
    • Management or supervision of research projects

    Masters Research Intern

    Minimum Requirements;    

    • Applicants must be in possession of a relevant Honours degree and be registered or about to register for a Masters degree in public health with a recognised South African or other university;
    • A sound grounding in research methods will be a strong recommendation; Requisite computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office,)
    • Working experience with some of the following data software packages: STATA, Epi Info, SPSS, Nvivo, AtlasTI or other relevant statistical packages;
    • Ability to work well under pressure and to meet deadlines.

    Duties & Responsibilities;    

    • In addition to being registered for a Masters degree, at a recognized South African university and currently working on their degrees, or eligible for registration at a recognized South African university, research interns are required to participate in all aspects of the research process as they work with other staff on different research projects.

    NRF Rating Consultant

    Minimum Requirements:    

    • PhD. degree in the Social Sciences or the Humanities and have a track record of facilitating similar workshops.;
    • Must be NRF rated
    • Must have a minimum of 3 years of traceable experience with references working on similar projects.
    • Extensive understanding of the NRF rating system

    Added advantage:

    • C2 Rated
    • The consultant must be available to work with the researcher from November 2023 until February 2024 or the closing date for receiving applications.
    • The HSRC will only consider proposals that include the above requirements.

    Duties & Responsibilities;    

    The appointed service provider is expected to:

    • Work with HSRC senior and junior researchers with their applications for NRF ratings.
    • Critically analyse their applications
    • Inform the prospective applicants of the closing dates and any other related information
    • Monitor prospective applicants progress regarding their application 
    • Demonstrate, through a detailed proposal, that he or she has the necessary skills, competencies, and experience to undertake this assignment.
    • Provide evidence of own experience, e.g. references (please include details in CV).
    • Be familiar with and have an understanding of the NRF rating system and the application process.
