    Logistics Practitioner Final Product (Fixed Term)

    PURPOSE OF THE JOB

    To be the continuous improvement driver of the Logistics process through reporting on and analysing process performance, making recommendations and implementing projects in a safe manner and direct the Final Product management process.

    SAFETY, HEALTH, ENVIRONMENT AND QUALITY

    • Identify and assess level of continuous risk exposures in area of responsibility by considering exposures to business, financial, legal issues, people, equipment, material, environment, processes, etc.
    • Consider the level of risk, apply mitigation and implement control measures for residual risk (set objectives, minimum requirements, etc.)
    • Comply with SHEQ requirements (SHEQ Toolbox)
    • Utilise the Integrated Management System (IMS) to initiate, investigate and report SHEQ status us

    Job Responsibilities:

    Log Operator Raw Materials - Middelburg

    PURPOSE OF THE JOB

    To safely offload and load road and rail trucks at Raw Materials, allocate the Raw Materials to storage areas by means of the SCADA control system and to monitor the flow of Raw Materials to the correct storage areas

    CUSTOMERS 

    • Ensure Customer Satisfaction (Furnaces, Crusher Plant, External customers etc.)

    BUSINESS PROCESSES 

    • Identify material to be offloaded, verify if material is the same as supplier note and offload in correct storage area
    • Report non-conforming material to the responsible person 
    • Evaluate road box and bunker capacity 
    • Inspect discharge system and speed 
    • Monitor Tipper car position 
    • Offload material in the correct storage area 
    • Operate SCADA system to control material to be offloaded into specific bunkers. 
    • Liaise with other departments (Rail Services and Central Transport) 
    • Direct road vehicles to the correct stockpile or road box 
    • Monitor operations of the Raw Materials receiving system (conveyors, transfer chutes, flapper gates and tippler cars and fines bins) 
    • Monitor water level at conveyors 
    • Ensure road box and stockpile is clean prior to offloading 
    • Check and unblock discharge chutes 
    • Regular inspection of raw materials and conveying systems 
    • Sample raw materials according to SOP for analysis 
    • Identify equipment defects/failures and report to Coordinator or Supervisor
    • Work shifts 
    • Act in a higher level as and when required
    • Work overtime as and when required 
    • Any other relevant tasks required

    Requirements

    Minimum qualifications:

    • Grade 12 or N3 or N3 that is equivalent to a Grade 12/ Matric (4x Technical subjects or 4x Business subjects and 2x Language subjects)
    • 1 year relevant experience in a logistics environment
    • Valid driver’s license (minimum B/ Code 8)

    Log Operator SME - Middelburg

    PURPOSE OF THE JOB

    To safely transport, load, prepare and discharge various materials to and from different plant locations by means of Surface Mobile Equipment on a shift basis.

    • Submit activities sheet (log sheet) to Coordinator at end of shift and to other plant areas when requested

    • Identify and report problems on machines by means of pre- and post-start checklist

    • Assist the Diesel Mechanic with basic tasks during a breakdown situation (No Diesel Mechanic specialized tasks may be performed)
    • Work overtime work as and when required
    • Any other relevant tasks required

    Requirements

    Minimum qualifications:

    • Grade 12 or N3 or N3 that is equivalent to a Grade 12/ Matric (4x Technical subjects or 4x Business subjects and 2x Language subjects)
    • 1 year operating experience (Front End Loader and/ or Articulated Dump Truck)
    • Valid Driver’s License (minimum B / Code 8)
