    Laboratory Supervisor

    Job Description
    The Lab Supervisor:

    • Londani is responsible to plan, organize, lead and control the operation and functions of the Londani Laboratory. To support the Mpumalanga Manager to meet business objectives and ensure compliance to the Company policies and business guidelines.
    • To plan, organize, lead and control the Londani Laboratory Operations.
    • Manage and monitor operational performance of the Londani Laboratory Operations.
    • Responsible for revenue and expense control of the Londani Laboratory Operations, in line with operational budgets and the business strategies.
    • Set annual budget targets in collaboration with the Mpumalanga Manager.
    • Responsible for pricing policies in conjunction with the Mpumalanga Manager.
    • Ensure that adequate and appropriate manpower resources, equipment and tools are available for total operational efficiency.
    • Effectively manage and continuously improve the quality management system, and the implementation of any certifications and accreditation systems within the business lines.
    • Control accounts receivable and DSO for the Londani Laboratory Operations.
    • Responsible for fleet management.
    • Responsible for the effective implementation of SGS QHSE systems, as well as client specific safety standards (e.g. ISO 17025 & NOSA).
    • Ensure liaison and technical support to all present and potential clients.
    • Assist the Mpumalanga Manager with complaints and claim resolution.
    • Assist the Mpumalanga Manager with technical and sales support as well as proposal co-ordination.
    • Keep abreast of new trends, current development and relevant research.
    • Attend all meetings as per client requirements.
    • Perform any other reasonable task as assigned by direct line manager.
    • Conduct relevant monthly meetings with supervisors, support staff and employees.
    • Conduct monthly service level agreement performance meetings with clients.
    • Quarterly client satisfaction surveys to be done with all stake holders.

    Qualifications

    • Degree/Diploma in Chemistry or Metallurgy.
    • TQMS qualification advantageous.

    Additional Information

    • Minimum of 3 years managerial experience, preferably in a coal environment.
    • Coal sampling, sample preparation, analysis and coal beneficiation experience essential.
    • Budgets, cost control and evaluation of data and results.
    • Working knowledge of ISO 17025.

    Quality Co-Ordinator: DBT Richards Bay

    Job Description

    • Maintenance of the documented quality system and assistance with laboratory quality matters.
    • Scheduling weekly quality meetings and maintaining minutes
    • Maintaining Quality documented system and amendments to registered documents
    • Create new documents and register on the system, ensure distribution
    • Ensure scheduled quality procedure training document packs are done
    • Ensure scheduled internal and process audit document packs are done
    • Ensure attendance registers and documents required for meetings are printed
    • Assist with training drives from Head Office - OI
    • Assist with quality matters in the laboratory where required
    • Replacing revised documents on SGS High Level Document System
    • Maintaining files with data and records additional to the electronic system
    • Assisting with the Suppliers information and the
    • Evaluate the business process, procedures in relation to changes and amendments as an when required
    • Monitor the effectiveness of improvement system
    • Assist with management reviews - accumulating and organize information for presentation
    • Keep up to date with Global SGS systems in area of responsibility
    • Planning
    • Responsible to plan daily, weekly and monthly activities
    • Ensure Schedules and matrixes are followed and up to date throughout the year
    • Administration
    • Forward, when required, information to QSHE Specialist
    • Assure a proper administration function to cater for the site’s quality matters
    • Maintain electronic systems and document filing where applicable
    • Quality training and meeting’ s attendance registers, agendas, memo’s and minutes
    • Compile audit and training packs as requested.

    Qualifications

    Sampling Supervisor

    Job Description

    • The Sampling Supervisor: Londani is responsible to supervise the sampling and sample preparation function and activities at the Londani Laboratory ensuring the timeous sampling, sample preparation and analysis of samples, data evaluation and reporting of results to comply with contractually agreed turn-around-times. To support the Lab Manager: Londani Laboratory to meet business objectives and ensure compliance to the Company policies and business guidelines.
    • To supervise the sampling and sample preparation function and activities at the Londani Laboratory.
    • To ensure the timeous sampling, sample preparation and analysis of samples, data evaluation and reporting of results to comply with the contractually agreed turn-around-times of reporting.
    • Supervision of the key performance indicators of the Shift Leaders and Operators.
    • Measuring the performance of the individual Shift Leaders and Operators and manage accordingly.
    • Time management and attendance control of Shift Leaders and Operators.
    • Responsible for Learning and Development of Shift Leaders and Operators.
    • Ensure that adequate and appropriate manpower resources, equipment and tools are available for total operational efficiency.
    • Maintain sampling and sample preparation equipment.
    • Control and ordering of consumables and maintaining associated records and stock levels.
    • Maintain all human resources related documentation.
    • Assist the Lab Manager with the responsibility for revenue and expense control of the Londani Laboratory Operations, in line with operational budgets and the business strategies.
    • Assist the Lab Manager with the setting of annual budget targets in collaboration with the Area Manager: Mpumalanga Central.
    • Effectively manage and continuously improve the quality management system, and the implementation of any certifications and accreditation systems within the business lines.
    • Assist the Lab Manager with the control of accounts receivable and DSO for the Londani Laboratory Operations.
    • Responsible for the effective implementation of SGS QHSE systems, as well as client specific safety standards (e.g. ISO 17025 & NOSA).
    • Assist the Lab Manager with liaison and technical support to all present and potential clients.
