    Management Accountant: Sales and Marketing

    The main purpose of the role is to:

    • Provide Commercial Front End support to the customer team to enable strategic decision-making regarding profitability, product feasibility and innovation.
    • To deliver enhanced customer and product profitability information designed to unlock margin opportunities and assist in focused strategic decision-making.
    • This role will also provide direct support to the Commercial Manager by working on tactical and strategic projects.

    Minimum Requirements    

    • Preferably a CIMA or CA(SA)
    • Preferably 3 to 5 years management accounting experience, incorporating commercial costing and some exposure to processing or manufacturing environments
    • Power BI reporting

    Duties & Responsibilities    
    Profitability Analysis & Reporting

    • Design dashboards which deliver consolidated insight into performance of customer profitability and which focus to the delivery of the Strategic yearly agenda as set out for the Function
    • Drive enhanced customer and product profitability information designed to unlock margin opportunities and recommend ways to optimise customer and product profitability.
    • Support the customer and marketing teams in the use of system tools regarding costing and profitability
    • Monthly feedback and analysis on the financial performance of the Product and Customers performance
    • Identify opportunities for value added reporting to improve the quality and content of reporting and message management.
    • Business partner with the OU commercial team to understand cost allocations on profitability reporting tool

    Budgeting and Forecasting

    • Assist and review results of the budgeting and S&OP forecasting process.
    • Provide input on forecasted profitability enabling mix optimisation for the S&OP process.

    Customer Pricing Support

    • Calculate and provide prompt and accurate pricing information for price reviews.
    • Compile robust cost support and presentations to assist the customer team to having a meaningful engagement with customers
    • Where required, attend the pricing reviews to settle pricing with customers
    • Assist in the compilation of individual customer price lists to be used by customer team as tools in pricing discussions and to process deals.
    • Provide continuous pricing support regarding profitability to ensure that products are sold at targeted margins.
    • Ensure product and channel profitability objectives are achieved

    Product Costing

    • Provide indicative “what-if” costings and impact on profitability for:
    • New product development
    • Specification changes
    • Other proposed R&D approved amendments.
    • Work closely with Business Unit commercial teams to facilitate an understanding of and ensure that the most current costs (both production and distribution) are used when reporting on profitability.
    • Conduct product reviews and report to the Business Units on:
    • Product performance and history, market positioning, growth strategy and opportunity margin improvement opportunities.      

    New Product Development

    • Attend NPD / MDT meetings on new products and provide commercial insight and capacity to the marketing function.
    • Ensure products are costed accurately and profitability remains the high priority.

    Net Revenue Management and Commercial Insight/Technical Expertise

    • Provide calculations, detailed analysis and associated recommendations emanating from all queries that arise because of changes in business operations, the economic climate or potentially might offer more profitable solutions.
    • Provide expertise in management team meetings to internal clients and colleagues and recommend solutions based on insights and findings.
    • Perform quadrant analysis to review product performance, and propose optimized promotion mix and sku rationalization
    • Work with customer team to perform ROI on promotional activities to unlock key insights.

    Key Responsibilities

    Strategy Execution

    • Work closely with the Logistics Manager and the transport management team to ensure the delivery of an integrated supply chain benefit and strategic target achievement.
    • Drive the implementation of improvements in warehouse operations to achieve significant gains in efficiency.
    • Ensure the implementation of warehouse operations and maintenance policies and procedures throughout the hub. 
    • Manage the system for keeping stock control systems up to date and plan future capacity requirements based on forward planning.

    Operations Management

    • Control and monitor inventory levels and replenishment processes.
    • Maintain the physical condition of the warehouse(s) by planning and implementing new design layouts in conjunction with the Night Manager; inspecting facilities and equipment; issuing work orders for repair and requisitions for replacement.
    • Manage warehouse operational requirements by deploying warehouse operational and administrative employees and following up on work results.
    • Continuously consider cost reducing strategies over all activities of the warehouse.

    Warehouse Administration Management

    • Oversee the warehouse administration, ensuring that all goods receipting and issuing documents are accurately and promptly processed.
    • Monitor the warehouse billing status.
    • Ensure computerised administration and automated storage and retrieval systems are accurately maintained.
    • Analyse and provide the inventory report, IN/OUT status report, dead stock report, goods age report, consumption report, manpower status report to the Logistics Manager.
    • Audit daily labour and billing reports.

    Warehouse Maintenance Management

    • Oversee the planned and unplanned maintenance of warehouse equipment.

    Customers Service Level Management

    • Resolve issues encountered around damaged or short stock.

    Risk Management

    • Ensure ISO compliance throughout the warehouse(s), including health and safety and food safety.
    • Conduct daily health inspections and risk compliance inspections incorporating: forklift inspections, lighting inspections, reachtruck inspections,facility inspections, damaged stock.
    • Participate in the risk committee and in HIRA workstudies.
    • Ensure warehouse compliance with all national and provincial legislation and regulations, international SHERQ standards and with company policy.
    • Ensure the safeguarding of warehouse operations and contents by establishing and monitoring security procedures and protocols.

    Team Management

    • Monitor team performance and provide regular performance feedback.
    • Coach and support the team where necessary to achieve objectives.
    • Lead the team towards meeting the strategy and targets through regular communication and utilisation of the full organisational talent management tool set.
    • Address poor performance in individuals and teams in accordance with company policy and the relevant legislation.
    • Conduct regular meetings and ensure that records are kept and shared across the team and that action plans agreed to within team meetings are delivered upon.

    Job Description

    • Direct, coordinate, implement, and maintain the Alexander Forbes Risk Management programme and standards.
    • Maintain risk registers.

    Communication

    • Communicate risk control and risk management information by analyzing data, developing leading indicators, producing and presenting required reports and advising management accordingly.
    • Liaise with external bodies e.g. Department of Labour, fire department, contractors, service providers (Life health etc) emergency services with regard local governmental compliance requirements and best practice.
    • Ensures SHE meetings are held as per policy and records are maintained.

    Incident Investigations

    • Conduct post incident investigations in order to identify root causes and determine appropriate preventative and corrective action.
    • Seek continual improvement in SH&E performance by regularly monitoring company activities and assess the implications of any new developments.

    Depot Controller

    Job Description    

    • Our Talent Teamis looking for a Depot Controller to join their Baking Business Unit. This position is located in Pretoria West and will report to the General Manager.
    • The successful incumbent will be responsible for managing and maintaining the fleet and the transport team in the depot, thereby ensuring that productivity and performance are maximized. To control the inbound and outbound processes and stock handling in order to maintain efficiencies within the depot warehouse and Maintain a sound reconciliation process of all stock and drivers reconciliation

    Minimum Requirements    

    • A 3-year national diploma in logistics, fleet and/or warehouse management.
    • Valid Code EB drivers' license.
    • Computer literacy (MS Office).
    • A minimum of 3 years management experience in a similar environment.
    • Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in an FMCG environment.
    • Previous experience managing warehousing, distribution, and stock control.

    Duties & Responsibilities    
    Inbound Control:

    • Control the inbound process by receiving products in good condition.
    • Manage the capturing of stock on the SAP system to ensure that goods are controlled and easily identified.
    • Ensure the product is allocated to the right bin in order to facilitate ease of access and convenience as and when required.
    • Activate internal material movement, incorporating order placement; product picking; and movement to truck for dispatch.
    • Monitor product shelf life in order to ensure the product has not expired, using the FIFO (first in, first out) system.

    Outbound Control:

    • Control the functions of outbound, ensuring products are dispatched out to customer.
    • Ensure that all orders leave the warehouse correctly packed and damage free.
    • Ensure all invoicing has been completed accurately and correct where necessary.
    • Manage and facilitate the process of loading goods onto trucks and ensure all products are sealed for transport to customers.

    Customer Liaison:

    • Deal with issues around damaged stock or stock shortages.
    • Check that details on invoices coincide with those on the orders.
    • Notify customers should any transport incident have a likely impact on delivery.
    • Schedule customer deliveries according to the time window process.
    • Verify orders and liaise with customers on point of receiving, making use of the SAP System.

    Stock Control:

    • Ensure stock is in the right location through the management of daily cyclic counts.
    • Ensure staff are properly rotating stock (where it does not go to the pick face but to the back-up location).
    • Monitor production and expiry dates on all inbound and outbound products.
    • Track inbound/outbound damage trends, establish root causes and take the appropriate corrective action.
    • Ensure cyclic counts are conducted prior to stock takes.
    • Ensure frozen stock is kept in the appropriate frozen and/or chilled state.
    • Prepare for and initiate monthly stock takes, ensuring that the entire process is completed within specified time frames.

    Warehouse Maintenance Management:

    • Manage and monitor the condition of the warehouse ensuring that the warehouse is kept clean. Damaged goods are dealt with according to SoP. Lighting is adequate and doors open and close easily. Areas in need of attention are reported to the Maintenance Manager. All bin allocations are clear from any damaged pallets. All forklifts are in good working conditions.

    Fleet Control:

    • Manage the daily schedule.
    • Check that a job card has been allocated to work and that the driver has managed to complete the form correctly.
    • Ensure that drivers complete the checklist every morning and afternoon to establish if there are any defaults.
    • Request complaints and difficulties for the day and take the appropriate action.
    • Monitor transport performance against benchmarks by obtaining vehicle exception reports from the tracking department as a means of monitoring drivers’ conduct and vehicle performance.

    Compliance Control:

    • Handle proxy responsibilities.
    • Ensure that all drivers have valid driver’s licences and PDP’s.
    • Ensure all staff members comply with health and safety requirements.
    • Investigate and report on all injuries on duty (IOD’s).
    • Implement safe working procedures.
    • Verify temperature for the entire warehouse by analysing the temperature worksheet.
    • Ensure frozen stock is maintained at above minus 18 and chilled not below minus 1.
    • Ensure staff understand and comply with the standards set by ISO 22 000 and HACCP.
    • Certify that a new load always enters a clean and well maintained vehicle highlighting the significance of quality.

    Security Control:

    • Investigate hijacking incidents to establish whether or not they are genuine cases.
    • Ensure that all stock leaves the warehouse with proper documentation.
    • Ensure cameras are focused on risk areas such as entry and exit points and on staff activity/inactivity to ensure staff are appropriately utilised and productive. 
    • Issue stock counts on key lines such as “ready to eat” products (e.g. polony) on a daily basis and analyse results.
    • Ensure that security staff check staff leaving for tea and lunch breaks.
    • Ensure all trucks leaving the warehouse are sealed and recorded in a sealed register.
    • Check the seals on warehouse doors on a daily basis.

     Team Supervision:

    • Train staff on the Standard Operating Procedures that serve to guide their approach to work.
    • Implement the Standard Operating Procedures through consistent application and communication.
    • Ensure that staff understand the procedures and sign off the relevant documents.
    • Conduct monthly meetings with staff in order to ascertain problems encountered and resolve associated issues.
    • Manage staff performance in order to establish opportunities for development and harness strengths.

    Maintenance Assistant

    Job Description    

    • RCL FOODS is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to join our Baking Division. The role will be based in Speciality Spartan and reports to the Maintenance Foreman. The successful incumbent will be responsible for assisting in mantaining and operating processing line machinery to ensure optimum production and to maintain the condition of the machine(s). 

    Minimum Requirements    

    • Grade 12/Matric certificate with Physical Science and Mathematics.
    • N3 Certificate in Machanical engineering or Electrical engineering will be advantageous.
    • 1 to 2 Years expirience in maintenance, preferably in a FCMG environment will be advantegeous.  

    Duties & Responsibilities    

    • Rendering assistance to Maintenance in the execution of all electrical, mechanical and civil maintenance and repair of Baking related machinery and equipment as per below output.
    • Inspection of machinery and equipment as per supplier requirements set out in the maintenance manuals.
    • Assissnt with Stripping of machinery.
    • Maintenance and repair of all Baking related machinery and equipment in accordance with the maintenance plan and schedule.
    • Repair of Baking related machinery and equipment per breakdown.
    • Execution of all reasonable instructions issued by artisan of daily.
    • Execution of all reasonable instructions issued by authorized personnel.
    • Daily inspection of all Baking related machinery, equipment, and constructions for prevention of breakdowns.
    • Welding; measuring; knowledge of tools and correct application thereof.
    • Ability to use cutting torch, portable electric tools and a grinder.
