    Artisan Shift Millwright

    Description

    The Shift Millwright is responsible to provide maintenance support to Production, Electrical/C&I and maintenance teams in the relevant areas.  The Shift Millwright is the first line of defence.  Breakdowns and inspections are performed on a 24 hrs basis to ensure maximum plant availability and efficiency.

    Person Specification

    • Motivated self-starter with the ability to think analytically
    • Demonstrate strong problem solving skills, leadership ability and high tolerance for pressure
    • Maintain standards in the plant and adhere to all safety rules and procedures
    • Physically fit, not afraid of heights or confined spaces
    • Flexible and willing to work overtime when required
    • Must be in possession of a valid driver’s license

    Requirements

    Skills required

    • Mathematics and Science N3
    • Must have a relevant trade test as a Millwright
    • 3-5 years of plant experience as a qualified millwright.
    • Experience in a heavy industry will be beneficial.
    • Must have sound knowledge of planned maintenance principles
    • Knowledge of maintenance & repairs on pumps, hydraulic, pneumatic and grease systems
    • Knowledge of chain drives, drive shafts, fans, gearboxes and conveyor belt systems
    • Knowledge required of maintenance on electrical motors as well as overhead cranes. 
    • Suitable candidate must be Computer literate

    Artisan Electrician (Middelburg)

    Description

    • The Electrician is responsible to provide electrical maintenance support to the Hot Mill & Plate area, daily inspections and repair all electrical equipment to ensure maximum plant availability and efficiency.
    • The Electrician is responsible for daily electrical inspections on air conditioners, MCC's, Water Chillers and Plant lights. Maintenance on all Plant Motors, Plasma Cutters and all Electrical Equipment and Office Equipment, daily Inspections and repairs on their assigned area. 
    • The tasks they perform must at all times be focused to improve production and product quality and to eliminate breakdowns.                                                                                                                                  
    • When a breakdown occurs, they will be the first line of defense and must ensure that downtime is kept to the minimum. 

    The Electrician is also responsible for following:                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      

    • Job card/ deviations schedules must be completed and handed to the Team Manager on completion
    • Planned shutdowns completed according to set standards
    • Work area to be maintained in a clean neat and tidy manner
    • Reports and work permits must be properly completed  and handed back to the team manager
    • Loading orders for spares on people soft                                                                                                       
    • Ensure all used tools are cleaned before returned and signed back to the stores and damaged tools must be reported  immediately

    Requirements

    Person Specifications

    • N2 with relevant trade test in the the Electrical field and a minimum of  10 years of relevant experience.  
    • The ideal candidate will hold a Matric or N3 with relevant trade test in the Electrical field with a minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience.  
    • Knowledge of electrical systems such as Breakers, DC and AC motors, cabling, earth protection systems, lighting.
    • Ability to apply electrical Principles.
    • Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, foreman and customers
    • Ability to do trouble shooting on motors and motor circuits.
    • Knowledge of basic instrumentation, hydraulics, pneumatics and process control will be beneficial
    • Computer literate
    • Tolerance for stress & sense of urgency
    • Flexible and willing to work overtime when required

    Technician Production Mech Lab - Middelburg

    Description

    The incumbent will be responsible for the overall quality of the testing performed in the area-Mechanical Laboratory, as well as for continuously identifying areas of improvement related to testing and process optimization. The main purpose of this role is to ensure that the quality of testing performed in the Mechanical Laboratory is in line with the required standard of the Laboratory and the business as a whole business. The incumbent, will further be responsible for conducting non-routine test work, continuously optimizing processes, developing new tests methods, improving exiting test methods, solving technical problem and ensuring that all relevant systems are updated and changes implemented accordingly.

    Requirements

    Key Performance Indicators include the following: 

    • Ensuring that the quality of testing performed in the Mechanical Laboratory is in line with the required standards of the business and the laboratory.
    • Conducting non-routine test work, continuous optimization of processes, development of new test methods, improving existing test methods, solving technical problems and ensuring that all relevant systems are updated and changes implemented accordingly.
    • Perform validations, identify criteria for revalidation as well as compile validation documentation.
    • Commission equipment and instruments in line with the required Laboratory practices and procedures.
    • Maintain and improve current quality control systems to ensure validity and accuracy of testing.
    • Perform the required internal calibrations and/ or verifications on relevant equipment.
    • Evaluate quality critical suppliers

    Qualification:

    • Minimum qualification required is a BEng (Metallurgy and Material Science / BSc. (Hons) Material Science.

    Experience:

    • 2-4 years' relevant laboratory experience at technician level in testing and quality management.

    Competencies/Skills:

    • Possess knowledge of mechanical and metallurgical testing and processes, statistics and quality control systems, testing equipment principles, root cause analysis, method development and method validation, as well as data analysis and interpretation
    • Must be computer literate
    • Experience as a Technical signatory in an ISO 17025 accredited laboratory will be an added advantage
    • Technical skills required; Mechanical and metallurgical testing and equipment, statistics, quality principles, in depth problem solving and root cause analysis
    • Basic people management skills required include conflict resolution, coaching and mentoring and written and oral communication
    • Personal competencies required; time management, initiative, attention to detail, integrity, self-discipline, proactive, sound judgement, ability to work independently and within a team.
