    ELV & ICT Graduate Engineer (Data Centres)

    Job Description

    • Providing a consulting engineering service for the design, implementation and close-out of Building Controls & Telecommunications infrastructure as well as ICT & ELV (Extra Low Voltage) systems for Large Scale Data Centres. The systems typically comprise of the following:
    • Fire Detection, Gas Suppression & Emergency Evacuation Systems,
    • CCTV Monitoring & Recording Systems 
    • Access Control Systems
    • Structured Cabling design with broad based knowledge of network and IT related equipment 
    • Building Management Systems (BMS)
    • Fibre Optic Network design including Ethernet and GPON solution architecture
    • Fibre Optic Testing
    • GPS, RF & GSM/DAS Antenna & Infrastructure
    • Wi-fi Access Point & Office LAN Networks
    • High Performance Computing & Storage Server hardware is advantageous   
    • Audio Visual Systems 
    • Project Management and Coordination with other Building Services
    • Knowledge and experience with Autodesk BIM (Revit, Navisworks, Glue, Field, etc.) and CAD software (Advantageous)

    This role comprises of a wholistic ELV & ICT consulting spectrum from inception, detail design, documentation and procurement, construction, site monitoring and project closeout. This role will comprise of predominantly Controls & Telecoms, but ICT Services and ELV Engineering Services experience will be advantageous.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Assisting senior engineers and engineers in all project phases as per PROCSA, NEC, JBCC and other engineering contracts
    • Project and Engineering report writing
    • High-level quality to the attention to detail when performing design reviews, for sign-off, with internal working peers and BIM team.
    • Maintaining good relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
    • Implementing best practice engineering methods.
    • Supporting established organizational objectives.
    • Ability to offer input with multiple engineering disciplines in project meetings.
    • Good client marketing characteristics and including external project professional team members.
    • Must be a team player and be able to work independently on challenging projects that may have tight timelines.
    • Proficient in Telecoms, Controls, ELV & ICT design and commissioning systems in accordance to local and international standards.
    • Proficient in Data Centre technologies and design criteria calculations.
    • An understanding or familiarity with South African National Standards (SANS). (Global ANSI/EIA/TIA & ISO standards specifically pertaining to Data Centers will be advantageous).
    • Design, based on client requirements and specifications
    • Proficient in various modeling software and BIM conversant will be advantageous (AutoCAD, Revit, ACC, etc.)
    • A understanding of all project stages from inception through to close-out and competent in constructing and compiling tender documentation and management of that process will be advantageous.
    • Assisting senior engineers and engineers in the formulation of Bills of Quantities (BOQ’s)
    • Specialist equipment specifications understanding and approvals
    • Quality control (QA/QC)
    • Site supervision and construction monitoring
    • Trouble shooting on existing installations
    • Cost control (related to ELV & ICT scope only)
    • Project scoping and scope monitoring
    • Multiple Contractor and contract management (ICT, ELV & C&I discipline)
    • Fundamental understanding of ICT & Electronic systems.

    Qualifications

    • Minimum BEng / BSc / BTech degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering
    • SAQCC registration is advantageous
    • No post graduation electronic services engineering experience is required, but will be advantageous
    • Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office
    • Must have an interest in ELV design on Data Centre projects
    • Must have an interest in ELV & ICT construction monitoring on Data Centre projects.
    • Any understand and/or experience in Revit and/or ACC will be advantageous.
    • Individual currently in employ of a consulting entity will be advantageous but not required.
    • Pr Eng or Pr Tech Eng eligible for registration will be advantageous but not required.

    ELV & ICT BIM Modeler

    Job Description

    • We are actively seeking an individual who can join the Property and Buildings Team and be responsible for preparing technical drawings of ELV and C&I systems as well as Telecoms infrastructure for Large Scale Data Centres) systems (experience in other Electrical/Electronic services will be advantageous).
    • Understanding the codes and standards (e.g. SANS & Global ANSI/EIA/TIA/ISO standards specifically pertaining to Data Centres will be advantageous) and transferring this into a design and a drawing, as well as the ability to learn new codes is critical.
    • During the drawing process, this position shall analyse information (such as measurements and sketches) provided by engineers, architects and other members of a project’s professional team. The BIM Modeler needs to apply their knowledge of design and engineering to illustrate visual instructions that relate technical specifications, including dimensions, arrangements and installation procedures. These drawings will then be used for tendering and construction purposes.
    • Attention to detail and the ability to perform and understand multi service co-ordination is critical.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Responsible for design and modelling of ELV, C&I and ICT systems.
    • Create and/or modify existing engineering designs and models.
    • Coordinate and communicate with building owners, clients, consultants, contractors, and project team members (internally and externally).
    • Ensure designs and drawings adhere to deadlines. Willingness to work extra hours above normal hours to ensure deadlines are met.
    • Site meetings during construction with engineers and contractors for the updating of designs and models.
    • Exposure to various industry CAD/ Building Information Modelling (BIM) practice and work cultures (optional).
    • Co-ordination of various services (HVAC, Fire, Electrical, Wet Services, Structural elements, etc.).
    • Responsible and taking ownership of designs and deliverables of tender information.
    • Be responsible to managing BIM models and coordinating multidisciplinary services and meetings for clash free models.
    • Innovation for BIM purposes and internal operational developments (indication of innovative ideas that is submitted with CV would be advantageous). 
    • Development of BIM families.

    Talent Acquisition Specialist

    Job Description

    • The role will support the Business in the delivery of technical engineering and environmental related recruitment & talent acquisition. With the support and guidance of the Senior Talent Acquisition Business Partner , this role will cover all aspects of recruitment & talent acquisition to include liaising with the HR Team, Business Unit Leads, Recruiting managers, Candidates and Recruitment & talent acquisition suppliers. The role recruits in a skills shortage market therefore the candidate will require a wider understanding of a variety of candidate attraction techniques and sourcing strategies. This role would suit someone who is highly organized, has a diligent work ethic, and is able to work under pressure.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Performing recruitment & talent acquisition activities in an effort to successfully source competent and suitable candidates for active and forecasted roles within the business.
    • Follow, manage and monitor all WSP recruitment & talent acquisition practices, policies and processes. 
    • Fully knowledgeable of WSP’s EE Plan and drive achievement of the EE targets by ensuring the placement of EE candidates.
    • Utilizing various recruitment & talent acquisition tools and platforms to meet recruitment & talent acquisition demands, such as internal recruitment & talent acquisition systems, external recruitment & talent acquisition systems, networking initiatives, agencies, social media tools ie LinkedIn Recruiting
    • Action internal recruitment & talent acquisition approval processes including obtaining approval to utilize external recruitment & talent acquisition measures.
    • Analytical interviewing for candidate pre-screening.
    • Regular Line Manager contact & communication covering all aspects of the recruitment cycle, including discussing CV and candidate feedback.
    • End to end candidate management duties including, pre-screening, shortlisting’s, interview set up, background checks, regretting of unsuccessful candidates and supporting with HR Administration in relation to the placement and onboarding of new employees.
    • Work with a high volume of vacancies in a skills shortage market and successfully making placements with a highly responsive time to fill.
    • Stay updated with the latest recruitment & talent acquisition trends and ensure continual improvement of WSP recruitment & talent acquisition and talent attraction strategies.

    Qualifications

    • Min 3-5 years solid experience in recruitment & talent acquisition.
    • At least 2 years in-house recruitment & talent acquisition experience.
    • HR or recruitment & talent acquisition related qualification degree.
    • Experience in HR administration, specifically in relation to recruitment & talent acquisition cycle and processes ie, drafting of offer letters, contracts etc.
    • Recruitment & talent acquisition experience in a skills shortage industry especially consulting engineering, transport, construction and power advantageous.
    • Experience with virtual recruitment & talent acquisition process, activities and initiatives.
    • Experience with RMS (Recruitment & talent acquisition Management System).
    • Strong Microsoft word and excel abilities.
