    Software Developer II (GAUTENG)

    DESCRIPTION

    Project tasks and assignments

    • Engage with various client departments and project managers to manage specific processes within the software development life-cycle (for example, functional specification, construction, quality assurance, implementation and reporting)
    • Understand functional and technical documentation needs of customers and research technology solutions to meet those needs
    • Ensure development of code meets quality (zero defects) and coding conventions (Smollan and generally acceptable standards). Follow change, incident, release and internal processes
    • Maintain open communication with customer representatives and cross-functional teams and ensure content meets requirements
    • Provide expertise for technical product documentation projects and support and assist in documentation design
    • Liaise with the client to coordinate the roll-out
    • Maintain relevant coding standards documentation, user training manuals

    Application Development Execution and Delivery

    • Research new innovations and solutions (includes new application , database and operating system technologies for mobile, open source and closed source domains)
    • Coordinate and interface with functional design, quality assurance, developers, other product teams, and senior management to ensure needs are met and managed
    • Manage to ensure delivery of technical designs, unit test plans, and high quality code. Use relevant repository for documentation and code storage standardisation
    • Integration development and impact analysis of solution
    • Determine the system requirements as per the specification or client needs
    • Design the appropriate system model
    • Liaise with the client to ensure the suitability of the model in meeting their needs
    • Develop the appropriate software using the relevant development tools (coding)
    • Test the system for stability, speed and spec compliance
    • Implement roll-out, change control, release management, project and client management

    Effective client support

    • Incident, problem and release management
    • Ensure systems up-time
    • Monitor customer support cases
    • Assist and provide support to resolve problems
    • Deploy proper Help Line protocol and escalation for problem solution
    • Monitor adherence to SLAs

    REQUIREMENTS

    Minimum Experience:

    • 5 - 7 years’ experience in programming and software implementation
    • Experience in application coding in relevant open source or closed source technologies and in mobile coding development
    • Experience working with MySQL, POSTMAN and with repository Git and GitHub

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Matric
    • Relevant IT Degree or Diploma in Software Development (BSc or BCom Informatics would be preferable)
    • Relevant Technical Certifications (C#/ Java /SQL Server/ MySQL) would be advantageous

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

    • Familiarity with PHP as a platform and its workarounds
    • MVC design patterns
    • UI design and good UX practices
    • SQL (ideally MSSQL) and SCRUM .Net, C# and WHMCS

    People Senior Specialist: Industrial Relations

    Our organisation is looking for a People Senior Specialist: Industrial Relations to ensure fair and equitable industrial relations practices and procedures in accordance with the relevant labour legislation.

    As a People Senior Specialist: Industrial Relations, you will be responsive for but not limited to:

    Management of Disciplinary Processes

    • Develop and maintain standardised and simple disciplinary processes that are aligned to all legislation.
    • Review and update disciplinary policies, processes and guidelines based on evolving labour law.
    • Assist in handling of CCMA disputes and/or any relevant dispute resolution forum disputes.
    • Upskill line management and HR teams on disciplinary processes and best practice

    Incapacity Management

    • Develop and maintain standardised and simple incapacity processes that are aligned to all legislation.
    • Review and update incapacity policies, processes and guidelines based on evolving labour law best practice.

    Management of Arbitrations and Department of Labour

    • Represent Smollan at CCMA proceedings.
    • Provide guidance and advice to HR representatives and line management on CCMA proceedings.
    • Monitor settlement trends and advise on acceptable approaches.
    • Ensure that CCMA awards are actioned in a timeous manner.
    • Facilitate correspondence with CCMA with regards to:
    • Condonation objections
    • Rescission applications/objections
    • Objections for conciliation or arbitration
    • Filing of closing arguments
    • Requests for telephonic conciliations
    • Ad hoc facilitations

    IR Upskilling

    • Ensure that IR training material is up to date.
    • Initiate the scheduling of IR refresher training.
    • Facilitate IR training and up-skilling at Group level.

    Stakeholder Management

    • Provide advice and support regarding any IR matters.
    • Ensure appropriate up-skilling of HR and line management on all IR related matters (e.g.
    • Build and maintain relationships with relevant stakeholders across Smollan (e.g., Business Units, HR representatives and Operations Managers)

    Teamwork And Self-Management

    • Follow through to ensure that personal quality and productivity standards are consistently and accurately maintained.
    • Demonstrate consistent application of internal procedures.
    • Plan and prioritise, demonstrating abilities to manage competing demand.
