    Timberman

    Job description
    The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:

    • Effective daily team supervision and take charge within agreed parameters in line with legal and safety protocols
    • Effective engineering maintenance, repairs and construction services to the shaft and station areas in line with quality standards and procedures
    • Perform planned shaft examinations, identify sub-standard / non-conformance issues e.g. mechanical, electrical, air, water and cabling problems and resolve in line with procedures
    • Safe and timeous timberman activities, including, on-level installation and repairs, manage and control shaft spillage and belt and loading levels, effectiveness of pipe and equipment installations, blast hanging boxes, tips, shoots etc.
    • Sign legal declarations for a workplace, record and be in charge of explosive usage within area of responsibility
    • Participate in the waiting place / pre-shift meetings to ensure desired parameters related to quality, quantity, cost and safety are understood
    • Effective risk management and compliance with DMR, M&RC and Client’s policies, procedures, standards and safety protocols
    • Effective communication at all levels to ensure safe and timeous workflows
    • Effective self and team management in alignment with M&RC’s values

    Minimum requirements
    Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:

    • Grade 12 or NQF 4 equivalent
    • Certified Competent as a Timberman
    • Blasting Certificate (Scheduled Mines)
    • Onsetter Certificate
    • Good English verbal and written communication skills
    • Ability to lead a team and take legal accountability for the workplace
    • Ability to identify rock strata conditions and their relevant supports
    • Medically fit for underground physical work

    Suitable candidates must have the following work experience:

    • At least 2 years of experience as a Timberman in an underground mining environment
    • Experience in being able to take charge of a crew and taking legal accountability
    • Knowledge of shaft sinking, bank operations, vertical shaft equipping and civil construction.
    • Knowledge of shaft loading systems and loading conveyors.
    • Knowledge of operations and legal requirements relating to the Explosive Magazines or Explosive Master

    Site Engineer

    Job description
    The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:

    •    Management of all related construction work at the Top of Mine and Bottom of Mine
    •    Risk Management of contract
    •    Achievement of project engineering budget
    •    Effective self-management and alignment with M&RC values and leadership initiatives
    •    Competent, motivated, disciplined and positive team
    •    Effective stakeholder engagement
    •    Maintenance of plant and equipment to best industry benchmarks of cost effectiveness, availability and reliability
    •    Routine construction to specification of infrastructure supporting TMM mining
    •    Achievement of outstanding health, safety and environment results 

    Minimum requirements
    Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:

    • BSc Engineering degree from a recognised institution, B Tech, or National Higher Diploma
    • DMR Government Certificate of Competency to practice as an engineer (GCC) (mechanical or electrical)
    • ECSA registration will be advantageous
    • Valid Driver’s license
    • MS Office proficient including MS Projects

    Suitable candidates must have the following work experience:

    • At least 5 years’ primary production experience at Engineer level, having held an Engineer's legal appointment for underground construction works.
    • At least 3 years’ construction experience with significant control of related maintenance
    • A proven track record in the leading a construction team, including services, planning and scheduling
    • Good knowledge of project management, planning and scheduling.
    • General Understanding of concrete
    • Graphic Interpretation Skills (Drawing, design, calculations, predictive maintenance analysis)
    • Structures & Structural Integrity – Quality Controls

    Construction Man (With Blasting/Trade)

    Job description
    The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:

    • Effective and efficient supervision of the mining construction crew to achieve production targets
    • Plan, schedule and control activities to ensure availability of resources, materials and equipment
    • Effective management of materials, consumables and explosives
    • Participate in waiting place / pre-shift meetings and ensure parameters relating to quality, quantity, cost and safety are understood
    • Team and self-perform drilling, blasting, lashing, shaft lining and equipping to standard
    • Team and self-understand and comply with M&RC’s policies, procedures, standards
    • Proactive risk identification and mitigation in compliance with DMR, M&RC and Client’s safety requirements
    • Effective self and team management and alignment with MRC values and leadership initiatives
    • Safe installation of conveyor transfer points, drive stations, tail ends, head ends, belt tensioning systems
    • Safe installations and construction of pump stations, dam walls, piping and valves
    • Supervise underground rigging installation and hooking points
    • Comply with the lock out systems required on machinery and equipment
    • Adhere to M&RC’s policies, procedures, standards and safety protocols

    Minimum requirements
    Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:

    • Grade 12 or equivalent (NQF4)
    • Blasting /Trade Certificate.
    • Licence to Supervise or equivalent supervisory qualification
    • Operating license for underground equipment
    • Numeracy skills
    • Supervisory skills
    • Proficient in Microsoft [Word and Excel]
    • Planning and organising skills
    • Good English written and verbal communication skills

    Suitable candidates must have the following work experience:

    • At least 4 years of experience in underground mining and underground construction work
    • Experience supervising a team
    • Knowledge of all construction work such as pipe installations, rail construction and concrete
    • Shaft Working Experience
    • Ability to perform risk assessment proficiently
    • Working experience in an underground mining environment
