    Project Engineer

    What needs to be done?

    • Execute turnkey projects in the mining & industrial sectors by leading project teams including drawing office & engineering, application engineers, quality, supply chain, planner, contract specialist and document controller.
    • Managing full scope on high value turnkey projects.
    • Controlling finance by managing supplier commitments on projects while tracking and pursuing invoicing milestones to maintaining a favorable cash flow position.
    • Actively managing changes, variations and amendments.
    • Ensuring safety compliance on project sites as company’s appointed 16.2
    • Managing subcontractors and their activities to complete projects safely, on time and to specification.
    • Attending client and site project progress meetings and reporting progress on status and risks to management.
    • Managing contract and communicating with customers in line with conditions under which the contract is established
    •  Tracking and complete handover of supplier documentation, as-built, manuals and data books on throughout the contract.
    • Closing projects on completion.
    • Adhere to Sarbanes Oxley and AX controls

     

    What do you need to bring?

    • BSc / BEng/ BTech Degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering.
    • Project Management Professional Certification will be advantage
    • Minimum 7 years’ experience managing large projects.
    • Understanding of project management processes and procedures.
    • Knowledge of NEC and/or FIDIC conditions of contract
    • Process plant experience
    • Good negotiation skills.
    • Customer-facing experience and strong communication skills a must.
    • Experience in execution of refrigeration/mine cooling projects
    • Experience in execution of HVAC projects
    • Experience in managing the commissioning of refrigeration/mine cooling projects
    • Knowledge of SANS 10147
    • Understand the basic principles of Compressors, Chillers, Evaporative Condensors and Heat exchangers
    • Ability to read and understand complex P&ID’s

    SHEQ Manager

    The Big Picture:

    Howden MEA Projects is currently looking for an experienced SHEQ Manager. The Environmental, Health, Safety and Quality Manager will work at our MEA Projects Division. Initially the role will be office-based developing, reviewing, revising and implementing our ISO Integrated Management System but will also require travel to branch and customer sites to carry out inspections and audits along with providing SHEQ support to site, branches and management teams. The role will also involve implementing and managing ISO Integrated Management Systems to ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 50001 standards. Responsible for the SHEQ compliance to legal and its own internal EHS standards (Legal and Customer requirements).

    What needs to be done?

    • Overall coordination between Howden group drawing office, engineering, application engineers, quality, supply Accountable for the SHEQ department to ensure we comply with legal, operational and Company procedures and regulations.
    • Responsible for HR related matters within the department: i.e. (Grievances, recruitment and Leadership)
    • Ensure that the safety files are managed effectively, comply with the correct standards and submitted on time.
    • Ensure that Audits are conducted by the EHS compliance on all operational sites
    • Responsible for the safety administration: Perform job observations and recording of safety requests / complaints / near misses / Hazard Identification / VFLs and do investigation on all incidents. Reports to Group EHS Manager on safety stats to enable trend analysis and corrective actions are effective to embedded EHS Culture at all levels.
    • Communicate the safety drive of Howden and our customers to our employees on the ground.
    • Suggest improvements on how to improve safety on the operational side.
    • Ensure EHS Standards meeting are done for Howden Projects to improve EHS Scorecard (Bradley Curve)
    • JSA Meetings for high risk activities for review, updates and communication and implementation. Keep risk register updated with the Baseline Risk Assessment
    • Management of the monthly & quarterly reports on time.
    • Set up quality standards and processes
    • Quality inspection of parts in workshop / warehouses and on site.
    • Manage supplier database and ensure subcontractors comply with quality system.
    • Quality Risk Register and NCR Register to be updated regularly to raise awareness with all.
    • Effective Reporting for Quality, Environment, Safety, Health and Energy indicating trends and opportunities for improvements.
    • SOX Compliance: Adhere to Sarbanes Oxley and AX controls

    What do you need to bring?

    • 5-10 years operational experience in the field of mechanical construction and maintenance.
    • Degree/ National Diploma in Safety Management or higher.
    • Registered member of ISOM
    • Extensive SHE exposure in industrial / manufacturing environment
    • ISO14000:2015 Environmental certified
    • ISO 45001:2018 Health and Safety certified
    • ISO 9001 – Quality certified
    • Proficient in MS Office environment
    • SAMTRAC certified
    • SAIW (South African Institute of Welding) Welding & Fabrications inspector Level 1 & 2.

    Service Manager - Middelburg

    Senior Sales Engineer

    The Big Picture:

    Howden MEA Rest of Africa is currently looking for an experienced Senior Sales Engineer. The purpose of this role is to work with the ROA team and other members of the functional teams in the generation and management of a sustainable pipeline of work that reflects current and anticipated business strategy and business unit plans. This will be achieved through interpreting market research and following through with key stakeholders and potential customers with subsequent action plans to convert opportunities into win. The Senior Sales Engineer will expand on the existing network of customers to sustainably grow the business in line with the ROA targets.

    What needs to be done?

    • Business development planning: Expand exposure to additional and complementary markets which will enhance business growth and sustainability. Identify and recommend strategies to enter new markets. Develop and maintain a pipeline of potential business opportunities. Work with product companies to identify technologies required to exploit these market opportunities in ROA. Nurture leads to become concrete and qualified, ready to receive a value proposal. Contribute to the ROA strategic planning process.
    • Business intelligence: Work with the ROA team to understand information about the macro environment, using the information to consider the implications for existing and new customers in targeted countries. Monitor industry trends and competitor activities to identify potential threats and opportunities. Provide continuous, effective and constructive feedback to sales teams. Identify areas of collaboration with other BU’s to maximise opportunities and unlock synergies.
    • Client / Agent relationships: Build long-term relationships with new and existing customers/agents in targeted countries. Arrange site meetings with new and existing customers/agents to promote all Howden & Chart products, services and digital solutions (Customer Engagement Plan). Undertake research to better understand the Voice of the Customer (VOC) and Voice of the Agent (VOA). Introduce potential new customers to sales team. Constant interface and communication with key customer team members with regards to unlocked opportunities.
    • Key networking events: Attend exhibitions, conferences and seminars. Identify and attend key networking events on behalf of business units. Facilitate customer entertainment to bring together our Sales team with our targeted customers in order to nurture customer relationships and translate into real opportunities.
    • Key measures and targets: Meet and exceed targets for ROA by aggressively managing the pipeline. Preparing regular reports, including financial and performance reports, to senior management, outlining the progress of business development initiatives and identifying any challenges or obstacles.
    • SOX Compliance: Adhere to Sarbanes Oxley and AX controls.

    What do you need to bring?

    • B-Tech/ B-Eng/ BSc Mechanical or Chemical Engineering qualification
    • At least 5 years’ experience in technical sales, marketing, product management, engineering, and/or field service.
    • Proven track record of identifying and developing successful business opportunities
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
    • Knowledge of Chart & Howden products
    • Knowledge of commercial terms and conditions, legislative framework and tax implications of doing business in Africa
    • Customer facing experience essential.
    • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
