    Maintenance Planner

    MAIN JOB PURPOSE:
    Collaborate with the operations department, assistant engineer, foreman, and artisans to ensure an effective maintenance operation. Accountable for maintaining plant parts system that ensures the necessary parts are on hand to minimize production downtime and maintenance repair time while controlling the spare parts inventory value. In addition to working with vendors and entering purchase orders and all other parts transactions, this includes learning systems, developing procedures, and training related personnel. Also works with the foreman and operations group (Artisan’s) to manage the work order and notification log. Specifically, the Maintenance Planner enters the work orders and provides the necessary reports to enable the efficient completion of all work orders/maintenance schedule. The planner will be responsible for budget control and develop saving projects

    JOB SUMMARY:
    Plant Support

    • Responsible for developing and managing the engineering maintenance schedules for the factory
    • Inputs and maintains the engineering master data on SAP PM
    • Identifies and implements improvements to the maintenance processes on site
    • Coaches and develops the SAP and engineering planning skills of the engineering staff
    • Implement and define with Assistance Engineering and Foreman the right PM implementation
    • Manage the parts inventory system, includes entering or supervising the entry of all parts transactions such as purchase orders, issues, returns, and inventory adjustments. This also includes managing blocked invoices
    • Maintain accurate inventory records and perform or manage periodic cycle counts and physical inventories.
    • Provide management with the required reports
    • Work with maintenance group and vendors to ensure necessary parts are on hand while minimizing overall inventory value
    • Help develop and maintain procedures for parts and work orders and ensure plant compliance with these procedures
    • Manage the work order system. This includes entering or supervising the entry of all work order transactions and providing the required reports to management and maintenance
    • Utilises TPM/ WCM to deliver the maintenance initiatives on site
    • Assist and recommend new projects and methods to minimize costs while ensuring accurate systems
    • Responsible for maintenance data capture (losses, cost, breakdown analysis, tag resolution.)

    SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

    • National Diploma in Engineering or an N4 (or equivalent) AND a valid Trade Test in Mechanical/ Electrical/ Engineering
    • Working knowledge and experience in FMCG/ Manufacturing environment will be an advantage
    • 3-5 years working knowledge and experience in managing maintenance schedules, maintenance budgets, improvements of maintenance plans and must have route cause analysis technical know how
    • Solid management, leadership, decision making and influential skills and experience is critical
    • In-depth working knowledge and experience in maintenance optimization and cost saving
    • SAP (Planned Maintenance, Cost Control and Professional Maintenance model) experience
    • Proficient TPM (PM Pillar)/ Lean/ WCM and MS Project experience will be an advantage

    R&D Manager Africa Market Cluster Lead-Ekaterra

    Your Role

    The R&D Africa Cluster Lead is responsible for delivering R&D and ekaterra Africa agenda. Accountable for delivery of all R&D elements and managing the programme of technical workstream leaders assigned to the project.     HRBP Inland Factory

    Main Purpose

    • Delivers HR support to the business and ensuring HR delivery is fully aligned to business goals in their area of business
    • Supports managers and teams in business delivery through enhancing their capability to deliver Strategy Into Action (SIA) components, manage their people, implement change and build relations with key stakeholders (internal and external)
    • Utilises the talent development process and tools delivered by the Expertise Teams in order to provide and develop the diverse talent pipeline for both the short and medium term needs of the company
    • Collaborates with the business for the creation of a high-performance culture by implementing team and organisational design solutions, providing measurable performance indicators and improvement plans.

    Site SHE Coordinator

    MAIN JOB PURPOSE:

    Co-ordinates the overall implementation and maintenance of the SHE management system and promotes continuous improvement practices which reduce the business SHE (Safety, Health and Environment) risk.

    JOB SUMMARY:

    Drives and facilitate the implementation of the SHE systems in line with:

    • System standards (ISO/FWS)
    • Corporate standards and guidelines
    • Legislative requirements and Business process requirements
    • Introduces, sells and champions SHE best practices, and customizes to suit business needs
    •  Coordinates, monitors and audits all SHE activities related to the business and ensures all business SHE activities meet Unilever and legislative requirements
    • Manage on site security under supervision of the Regional Security Manager
    • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement
    • Is custodian of the business SHE system, and as such is responsible for ensuring:
    • The system is maintained and adequate data and document management practices are adhered to
    • Is responsible for all business SHE information collation and reporting, in line with business and corporate requirements
    • Business and Contractor statistics, Annual, quarterly and monthly tracking of KPI’s, Monitoring SHE objectives and targets
    • As the business SHE expert, provide specialist support to the relevant business teams, drives, assists with and collates general SHE risk assessments; delivers SHE training programs, and liaises on annual and day to day issues with regulatory authorities, independent SHE auditing bodies and the Unilever SHE team.
    • Maintain best practice and knowledge base through networks within the wider SHE community internal and external, • Co-ordinate SHE related contractors e.g. Fire Equipment. Legal Appointments, Formulates and prepares legal appointments in terms of regulatory and system requirements
    • Management of Change and Custodian of the MOC process for SHE

    KEY REQUIREMENTS

    • National Diploma OR Degree BSc in Safety/ Health and Environment
    • Must have 2 years relevant experience combined with a strong Process and Mechanical Engineering background preferably within FMCG/ Manufacturing environment
    • Must currently be in charge of SHE and drive alignment to legal compliance and Process Safety Agenda – Technical design of factory (Operated, maintained and enforcement aligned to SHE best practice and standard activities)
    • Must have solid experience building facts off data and providing recommendation actions
    • Must have an excellent track record with maintenance and continuous improvement of Safety, health and environment within a plant
    • Must have working knowledge and experience of OHS Act and Compensation for Occupational Injury and Disease Act, Environmental Legislation and other relevant legislation
    • NOSA or ISO 9000, 14001 and OHSAS 18001, NOSA Courses: IT IS, SAMTRAC, risk identification and other SHE related courses will be an advantage

    Controls Systems Specialist

    PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

    To design, install, commission and maintain hardware & software for control systems and instrumentation systems. To perform engineering-related projects and design out recurring engineering problems.

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    Hardware / Software Design, Installation and Commissioning

    • Designs and implements hardware and software taking into consideration the human/machine interface, i.e. how the operators will interact with the process. 
    • Investigates the availability of hardware and software on the market.
    • Selects which hardware / software to use in the factory in terms of availability, wiring and equipment correspondence with material in use in the factory. 
    • Commissions the new system with the assistance of instrument technicians.
    • Required to be pro-active in recommending opportunities for improvement in respect to production problems.
    • Makes decisions regarding the final design taking into consideration the requirements of the legislation.

    Maintenance and Fault finding

    • Keeps the control system operational by fault finding, correcting faults and documenting system changes.
    • Responsible for the systems integrity, back ups and DRP’s.

    Implementation

    • Documents operations training manuals for training of users.
    • Is responsible for training maintenance personnel and operating personnel on maintenance and operation of new control systems.
    • Raises the budget and ensures that the project remains within budget.

    SHE

    • Interprets relevant laws and standards and ensure that standards and laws are implemented and adhered to.
    • Investigates accidents and incidents and draws up reports.
    • Operates within the framework of the NOSA and OHS, SHEACO Acts, and work permit procedures.

    Leadership

    • Co-ordinates the work of Instrument mechanics and Technicians during the installation and commissioning phase of the project.

    ENVIRONMENT:

    Internal

    • Persuades Production Managers, Engineers, Artisans and Foremen regarding project implementation.
    • Mentors Instrument Mechanics and provides training.

    External

    • Ensures performance of contractors according to predetermined project standards.
    • Negotiates prices with suppliers and contractors.

    QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

    • B.Sc and 2-5 years experience of instrument control and automation.
    • Or B.Tech (T4/S5 – Electrical Engineering) and 5-7 years experience of instrument control and automation.
    • Relevant National diploma with 7 - 10 years experience.
    • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access)
    • SAP/PMS (Plant maintenance systems).
