    Executive Analyst

    Role Overview

    This role will provide executive-level support to the CEO of NMG Benefits. The successful candidate will manage the flow and exchange of information, streamline interactions with key stakeholders (including clients and senior executives) and facilitate initiatives on behalf of the CEO, requiring the use of considerable judgement and independent action. 

    Responsibilities will include planning key operational activities including preparation for key meetings, agenda development, and providing timely advice or key updates on critical projects or issues requiring the CEO’s attention. Other key accountabilities will include managing, researching, facilitating, analyzing and implementing projects and issues as required, supporting client-facing activities and ensuring that communication with key stakeholders is undertaken effectively and in a timely manner.

    This role is expected to provide significant assistance to the CEO in working closely with business unit managers and functional heads to assist in the achievement of strategic and commercial objectives and growth targets.

    The incumbent will be based in Johannesburg for the duration of the secondment, although travel to other NMG offices will be required.  

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Executive Support

    • Develop an in-depth understanding of the business environment, internal organisation and ways of working
    • Establish strong rapport with key stakeholders within the organization
    • Act as the first point of contact for all internal and external stakeholders on behalf of the CEO, as appropriate and communicate directly on all matters related to the CEO’s initiatives
    • Research, prioritize and follow up on incoming issues and concerns addressed to the CEO, including those of a sensitive or confidential nature, and determine appropriate course of action, referral or response
    • Act as a liaison for the CEO with all internal departments whilst developing and maintaining credibility, trust and support with all Senior Executive staff
    • Monitor the issues taking place within NMG Benefits and updating the CEO as appropriate/required
    • Assist the CEO in conducting regular business reviews in order to monitor and drive performance
    • Assist the CEO in conducting annual business planning and strategy exercises
    • Support planning and preparation for the monthly Exco meeting, quarterly Board meeting, offsites and other senior staff meetings as required. Create agendas and supporting materials as required
    • Maintain a close working relationship with the PA for the CEO to remain up to date with current obligations in addition to upcoming business priorities and assist with scheduling conflicts etc
    • Other functions, projects and responsibilities as assigned by the CEO

    Strategic Initiatives / Project management

    • Develop a working knowledge of the growth targets of the company and various strategies, programs, management initiatives and priorities to meet these goals
    • Monitor and report progress on these programs, initiatives etc.; highlight risks, delays, and opportunities to CEO
    • Provide support on client activity to the CEO as required
    • Lead ad-hoc projects as required by the CEO to deal with business issues as they arise; this will require self-initiated research and analysis to investigate options

    Communications

    • Plan and prepare timely business-wide communications from the CEO (strategy and financial performance updates etc.)
    • Draft strategic communications and prepare external correspondence as required
    • Coordinate PR and external activities for the CEO in liaison with the Marketing department.

    Qualification

    • Tertiary qualification in a technical discipline

    Fund Accountant

    Role Overview

    The Incumbent of the role will be responsible for monthly and quarterly management of accounts, annual Financial statements and Controlling costs. Fund Accountant will be supporting the Manager Accounts to meet service level agreements and meeting deadlines.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Monthly Accounting Work

    • Upload Bank Statements into the admin system
    • Monthly and quarterly management accounts
    • Managing and meeting deadlines (Monthly, Quarterly and Annual Processes)
    • Preparing monthly ALM’s on all management accounts
    • Prepare Quarterly SARB reports
    • Timeous payment of fund invoices
    • Preparation of annual financial statements for active and termination funds

    Annual Financial Statements

    • Preparation of annual audit file on stand-alone funds/ consolidation and preparation of working papers for umbrella funds, including financial statements
    • Assist with annual Regulation 28 Reports
    • Meet audit deadlines
    • Resolve queries (audit, actuarial and Trustee) within the stipulated turnaround times
    • Adhere to processes and procedures within the fund accounting team.
    • Annual planners to be always maintained and adhered to

    Controlling Costs

    • Avoid audit overruns

    Note:

    Based on years of experience, additional tasks can be allocated as required by the business. This might include the checking of reports.

    Qualifications

    • Matric/ Grade 12
    • BCom or studying towards a BCom degree or a relevant accounting diploma/qualification

    Experience

    At least 1 - 5 years’ experience in Retirement Fund Accounting is an advantage (depending on role requirements)

    Skills Required

    • Knowledge of accounting policies, systems, procedures and Generally Accepted Accounting Practice.
    • Knowledge of Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA) requirements and involvement.
    • Knowledge of The South African Reserve Bank (SARB) requirements and involvement.
    • Knowledge of segregated investments and disclosure on Annual Financial Statements
    • Ability to correspond/communicate with auditors, consultants and actuaries.
    • Understanding the purpose, background and policies of the organization.

    Role Overview

You will be expected to perform various tasks including portfolio reviews and preparing financial projections using financial planning software. You must have the ability to utilize critical thinking skills, work within a team, and anticipate firm needs and client questions. Qualified candidates will be detail oriented, structured and have a high degree of follow through.

    • All aspects of pre-client meeting activities such as preparation of meeting agendas, client paperwork, Investment Policy statements, asset allocations as well as post-client meeting tasks such as develop meeting notes, perform financial situation analyses, and coordinate planning implementation with outside professionals if necessary
    • Continuously monitor clients’ financial situations with detail and accuracy
    • Be able to keep up and learn things quickly in a fast paced environment and effectively manage regular changing of priorities

    Qualifications

    • B.S. degree from accredited four year university preferably in financial planning, business, finance, economics, etc.
    • CFP® certification or attainment within 1-2 years after joining firm

    Role Overview :

    To provide a service to Customers, Stakeholders, NMG provincial offices, and Underwriters by resolving insurance policy queries on products according to business needs. To facilitate the development of customer loyalty through dynamic customer relationship management and to consistently portray a corporate image aligned to the culture of our organisation.

    Job Specifications: Key Performance Objectives

    • Important to note: Our current Clients are Professionals in the Built Environment (eg Architects, QSs, Engineers) Legal, Accounting and Financial sectors
    • The Insurance companies and Underwriters we support are all specialists in these insurance Products and types of Clients/Professions.
    • The Job focus is on our main insurance products for these types of Clients i.e. Professional Indemnity and/or Civil Liability, related Crime/Fidelity, Directors & Officers Liability.

    Responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

    • Responding to Clients/potential Clients requests / queries and maintaining excellent CRM
    • Contacting and dealing with Clients/potential Clients on outstanding information or marketing matters
    • Preparing and sending out proposal forms to Clients and/or potential Clients
    • Dealing with Insurers/Underwriters on any queries and obtaining quotations
    • Checking and verifying quotations from Insurers/Underwriters
    • Preparing and sending out quotations to Clients/potential Clients. NB - on “Scheme” quotations, adhering strictly to Scheme Binding Authorities with Insurers
    • Assisting with monthly Management Accounts and reports to Management and Credit Control
    • Sending out of renewal notices and letters and following up sending reminders
    • Follow up on outstanding information/renewals from clients
    • Maintaining and loading data into the TIAL policy administration and quotation systems eg see following:- Tial system includes
    • Raising of invoices

    Qualifications:

    • Matric
    • RE5
    • COB (Class of Business) and be FAIS Compliant in terms of Commercial Lines
    • Short Term Insurance Certification advantageous
    • Wealth management Certification advantageous

    Requirements/Attributes:

    • At least 2-3 years experience in Professional Indemnity Insurance
    • Willingness and aptitude to undergo further training and specializing in Financial and Professional Risks
    • Attention to detail and focus on the tasks at hand
    • Completion of tasks in a timeous and correct manner
    • IT competency
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Tial competency or similar Policy Administration systems
    • Able to execute tasks without constant supervision
    • Willing and able to work from Offices (in Bryanston)
