    Control Room Operator

    Introduction

    • This position will be based in the Saldanha Bay Municipality area in the Western Cape.

    Description

    • The purpose of this position is to continuously monitor, react and control all equipment and operational processes in line with required parameters to ensure safe and effective operation of the production plant according to control philosophies, operating procedures, and standards.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Control and monitor all process equipment through information received from the Scada system
    • Act and respond promptly on process defects as indicated by the Scada system
    • Coordinate Process Operators and Attendants on the shift to act promptly on process defects
    • Report abnormal and unusual conditions immediately
    • Monitor and record process parameters such as flows, pressures, levels, and temperatures to ensure effective operation
    • Interact and communicate with all process and engineering staff
    • On instruction call-out appropriate maintenance staff
    • Complete production log-sheets
    • Perform general housekeeping duties
    • Evaluate and analyze process parameter trends and make proactive changes to ensure continuous process stability
    • Communicate loss of production or process instability to Shift Supervisor

    Qualification Requirements

    • Grade 12
    • National Certificate Mineral Processing Level 2 or equivalent Minerals Processing qualification

    Experience and Skills Requirements

    • Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Process Operator, preferably within the hydrometallurgical mineral processing industry
    • Minimum 2 year’ experience as a Control Room Operator
    • Froth flotation process operational experience would be advantageous
    • Knowledgeable in the requirements of the MHSA
    • English language proficiency
    • Computer literacy
    • Scada system knowledge
    • Time management skills

    Process Attendant

    Job Description
    Introduction

    • This position will be based in the Saldanha Bay Municipality area in the Western Cape.

    Description

    • The purpose of this position is to assist with housekeeping and general operational activities as per instruction from the relevant Supervisors.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Adhere to standards, methods and procedures of the job
    • Provide general assistance to colleagues and Supervisors
    • Perform housekeeping duties as per operational requirements and instruction
    • Conduct visual inspection of the working area to ensure workplace safety
    • Report failure of equipment
    • Assist with operational maintenance tasks
    • Conduct sample preparation including collection, filtering, tagging screening, drying and submitting for analysis.

    Qualification Requirements:

    • Grade 12

    Experience and Skills Requirements

    •  No previous experience required
    •  English language proficiency
    •  Grade 12 math’s and science will be advantageous
    •  Previous operational experience will be advantageous

    Production Artisan – Fitter (Shift)

    Introduction

    • This position will be based in the Saldanha Bay Municipality area in the Western Cape.

    Description

    • The purpose of this position is to diagnose and maintain machinery and equipment according to technical specification and sound engineering practice.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Investigate, diagnose and perform trade related maintenance and repair of equipment and machinery according to the maintenance requirements, standards and specifications
    • Perform daily inspections in accordance with the Mine Health and Safety Act regulations, operational and company standards to report all defects and breakdowns on equipment and machinery to the Supervisor
    • Develop, modify, construct and install all types of trade related equipment required for the safe operation of all engineering equipment
    • Ensure that all installations and equipment are safe and in good working order after task completion
    • Continuously monitor equipment failure and efficiency to improve trade specific equipment and systems
    • Consult with production teams on maintenance activities that effects production
    • Supports the achievement of engineering availability and production performance levels
    • Ensure that maintenance related information is recorded and reported to the relevant planning office to support the maintenance of the planned/asset maintenance system
    • Attend to shift handover by attending to previous shift information and schedule shift resources accordingly
    • Performs visual inspections of work area to identify problems and report to shift supervisor
    • Monitor production according to shift targets
    • Supervise and maintain a high standard of housekeeping
    • Provide maintenance support to engineering department

    Qualification Requirements

    • Valid Section 13 / Section 26 (D) Trade Test Certificate required
    • Valid driver’s license code B, EB or C1
    • Own transport to attend to call outs 

    Experience and Skills Requirements

    • A minimum of 4-5 years’ experience as a qualified Fitter in a mineral processing plant or similar environment is required
    • English language proficiency
    • Time management skills

    Training Officer

    Introduction

    • This position will be based at the Phola Plant close to Ogies in Mpumalanga

    Description

    • The purpose of this position is to equip staff with the knowledge and practical skills to carry out work-related tasks, and to help with the ongoing, long-term improvement of employees' skills to enable them to fulfil their potential within the Plant.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Ensure compliance with Minopex Health and Safety responsibilities and legal and operational requirements
    • Work with plant line managers to assess the skills and knowledge within the plant and determine what training is needed to grow and retain these skills (skills gap analysis)
    • Identify training and development needs within the plant through job analysis, appraisal and regular consultation with Supervisors, Plant Managers and the Human Resources department (training needs analysis)
    • Design and expand training and development programs based on the needs of the plant and the individual
    • Produce / develop training materials for in-house courses
    • Facilitate training courses as well as on-the-job training in the plant on a needs basis
    • Attend client meetings and Visible Coaching Leadership (VCL) as and when required
    • Ensure that the Training Centre is ISO compliant
    • Ensure that statutory training requirements are met
    • Monitor and review the progress of trainees through questionnaires and discussions with the Supervisors and the Plant Manager
    • Manage the delivery of training and development programs
    • Amend and revise programs as necessary, in order to adapt to changes occurring in the plant
    • Assist Supervisors to solve specific training problems, either on a one-to-one basis or in groups
    • Have an understanding of e-learning techniques, and where relevant, being involved in the creation and/or delivery of e-learning packages
    • Updating of the training database and employee training files / records and matrices
    • Ensure training complies with MQA and ISO standards and practices
    • Work according to the Mine Code of Practice and report any deviations
    • Prepare progress reports and any other reports as required by management and maintain employees’ training records
    • Manage training programs to ensure they are delivering results
    • Prepare training schedules, allocate instructors to different courses and monitor costs to keep programs within budget
    • Approve training orders on the Orb system
    • Monitor and update training actions on the Isometrix system
    • Drive and Support Minopex’s retention of BBBEE certification through compliant training practices
    • Management of the site-based training team ensuring that KPI’s are set and monitored, and that PDP’s are in place

    Qualification Requirements:

    • Grade 12
    • Certificate in Training & Development (ETDP level 5 certificate)
    • Assessors Certificate
    • Moderators Certificate will be advantageous
    • A valid Trade Certificate in a Mechanical / Electrical Engineering discipline or a Mineral Processing Certificate will be advantageous
    • Registered SDF (advantageous)
    • Experience and Skills Requirements:
    • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a training environment in the mining or mineral processing industry
    • Knowledge of Isometrix / HSEC systems
    • Knowledge of Firefly system
    • Knowledge of ORB system
    • Experience in Engineering / Minerals skills programs, learnerships & qualifications.
    • Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 / ISO 45000:2018 / ISO 14001:2015
    • English language proficiency
    • Time management skills
    • Supervisory skills
    • Presentation and report writing skills
    • Must have good interpersonal skills and must be able to work effectively with colleagues, trainees, supervisor and managers
