    Group Manager Finance Operations

    Job description

    Main Purpose of the Job

    The Group Manager: Finance Operations will have accountability and responsibility for providing leadership to the South African business operations for the Sun International Group with regards the consolidation and management of the business units’ financial performance, financial controls and fiscal discipline with specific regard to achieving business profitability and improving financial operational standards and accurately report on financial results, in line with Company standards and statutory and regulatory requirements. The role will also be required to analyse and report on the cost and projected business value of operational business projects, processes, products and services across the Group, and the planning and execution of agreed improvements to processes and practices.

    Education

    • B.Com Honours (CTA) with Articles
    • Registration as a Chartered Accountant.

    Experience

    • At least 8 years experience in a general financial management environment; with a track record in the consolidation of financial results.
    • Broad range of Commercial experience and a proven technical background in financial analysis
    • Experience in the management and mitigation of risks
    • Experience in Stakeholder Management including vendor engagement and related SLA’s
    • · Experience in a hospitality/gaming environment an advantage.
    • Strong understanding of financial management, regulations and the legislative environment
    • Deep experience in program budgeting and fiscal management.

    Key Performance Areas

    • Delivery of Group Operational Finance Plans
    • Benchmarks current finance activities, performance and investment against leading practice in the industry; and through gap analysis develop a roadmap for improvements and the business case for improvements and changes within the business operations
    • Collaborate with Group Finance and business unit finance to develop, design and integrate a Financial Operating strategy, budgets and targets for the SA Group Business Operations
    • Influences present and future products and services by determining and evaluating current and future market trends.
    • Create synergy and alignment of the financial objectives across business units in line with business requirements and integration of Group strategy
    • Elicit new business opportunities and leverage relationships to promote operational revenues; competitive edge and business growth
    • Recommend and lead the delivery of financial results including clearly defining and delegating plans, authority and accountability at all levels
    • Conduct SWOT Analyses in the current hospitality and gaming business environments and project new opportunities for start-up projects and new product innovation (including due diligence; resourcing, etc)
    • Conduct risk analyses i.t.o impact on short term profit margins vs. long term sustainability
    • Establish and adapt efficiency and cost management benchmarks
    • Recognizes and provides insights on trends, barriers, risks and opportunities that may impact the business within the gaming; F&B; housekeeping and hotel rooms environment.
    • SA Group Financial Performance Analysis & Reporting
    • Oversee the recording and consolidation of financial transactions for all financial operations across the SA Group operations to ensure the financial position is accurate, up-to-date and complete
    • Collaborate with the unit Financial Managers to align business unit plans to deliver objectives and targets accordingly
    • Oversee the management and consolidation of the financial budgets, analysis and profit improvement forecasting for the Group’s South African business units
    • Conduct analyses of operational performance, identifying opportunities to create revenue and efficiencies with the aim of enhancing market share / competitiveness
    • Conducts analyses and makes recommendations for optimisation of costs and introduce efficiencies without jeopardising services.
    • Conduct analyses, understand and control costs related to vendor and business partner relationships within the business operations
    • Produce Capex recommendations for the SA Group with regards operating equipment for various project requirements
    • Produce annual reports on SA business operations’ financial performance
    • Review financial risks (on Risk Register) quarterly and address mitigating and aggravating circumstances.
    • Interpret results and commentary on financial results
    • Compiles Group reports for various executive stakeholders on results of investigations, making recommendations to reduce loss of stock and enhancement of controls
    • Operational Financial Standards & Governance
    • Oversee the development and updating of operational financial standards, tools, processes and initiatives, ensuring these are communicated and quality assured on a regular basis e.g. stock and asset management; asset exit procedures, etc.
    • Research new technologies and alternative methods and channels to improve and streamline processes and products.
    • Implement sufficient control measures (including systems and processes) & checks to mitigate any risk to the business.
    • Work with internal stakeholders and business partners (Business Teams, gaming, finance, HR) to identify risk areas and address these making recommendations; changes and enhancements
    • Monitors the recording and reporting of assets and operating equipment in all areas of Food and Beverage, housekeeping and hotel rooms across the Group including breakages, condemned linen, etc.
    • Maintains records on liquor licencing entitlements and compliance management; records of usage and excess/ shortfall of licenses
    • Commercial Advice & Project Support
    • Develop a benefits realisation plan for start-up projects and expansion opportunities that will be managed throughout projects to ensure that planned benefits always have owners and are achieved, sustained and optimised.
    • Contribute and provide input into the preparation for in‐principle approval of the project business case and due diligence essential for decision‐making regarding purpose, contribution to business objectives, expected value created, people costing, etc.
    • Conduct financial analyses and benchmark with leading financial trends and practice including economic trends and revenue opportunities; projecting acquisition and expansion prospects
    • Produce financial reporting on projects and initiatives
    • Monitor and control financial aspects of projects and (benefit/outcome) performance against plan throughout the project life cycle
    • Monitor and track all budgeted project expenditures and report on progress

    Operations Duty Manager

    Job description

    Main Purpose of the Job

    Manages and monitors the front of house operations in allocated areas, ensuring that internal (SOP) and external (grading) standards and procedures are continuously achieved, client disputes / queries are resolved and that the customer service provided within the designated areas / departments are professionally executed.

    Education

    • Matric / Grade 12 (or equivalent) with fluency in English
    • 3-Year Hotel School Diploma or equivalent
    • Supervisory qualification (preferred)

    Experience

    • Minimum of 5 years’ experience with 3 years management experience in the hospitality industry
    • Previous experience in duty management is an advantage
    • Meets the requirements of a key gaming license
    • Must be able to work shifts in line with operational requirements (including weekends and public holidays)

    Key Performance Areas

    • Operations Management
    • Supervises staff appearance and front of house appearance/ functioning of equipment and systems
    • Identifies, investigates and resolves guest requests / issues / complaints
    • Supervise the arrival of VIP guests (where relevant)
    • Maintain Operational standards across the property (e.g. housekeeping, maintenance, etc)
    • Follows up on any maintenance / technical equipment fault logging with the Technical departments until resolution
    • Ensure the collateral in public areas is professionally presented
    • Carry out activities required for smooth functioning of guest relations across the operation.
    • Act as a Manager on Duty for all guest queries / concerns
    • Complete shift reports
    • Retail Product Offering
    • Make recommendations of improvements to products and service offerings in line with trends in the industry ensuring that the product offerings are innovative and fresh
    • Manage the relationships and provide support to tenants throughout the contractual agreement period to ensure that planned benefits are achieved, and sustained.
    • Monitor customer service feedback with regards quality and service across the operation
    • Measure success and return on investment of products and services and identify issues and challenges when not achieved
    • Compliance Management
    • Collaborate with tenants and service providers to review standard operating procedures and service level agreements to be achieved
    • Implement sufficient control measures (including systems and processes) & checks within each department to mitigate any risk to the business.
    • Conduct weekly walkabouts of all front of house and back of house areas to monitor compliance
    • Monitor compliance of tenants and outlets with regards to Fire, Health, Safety and Security regulations in line with Group standards
    • Maintains records on licencing entitlements and compliance management
    • Monitor audit results for service providers and retail tenants
    • Customer Experience Management
    • Ensures that guests are treated with courtesy and respect at all times
    • Interact with guests and provide professional service standards and solutions
    • Handle any escalated complaints, disputes and suggestions as required
    • Be present on the floor during service / promotions or functions
    • Conduct staff training on product knowledge / promotions (including promotion information, functions, facilities, etc)
    • Shift handover ensures that staff have sufficient insights and information with regards VIP customers visiting the property
    • Stakeholder Relationship Management
    • Communicates with service providers and retail tenants with regards to business objectives and operational service standards, to ensure synergy in execution
    • Provides relevant guidance and support to operational teams and stakeholders
    • Informs department / staff of information required to perform the duties and relevant operation effectively
    • Communicates department’s objectives, standards and operating procedures to internal and external service providers as per SLA
    • Provides feedback and reports back to Unit management on the performance, progress and challenges within the various business areas including F&B, and the retail and recreational operation
