    Senior Manager

    Job Description

    PwC’s Transfer Pricing practice in South Africa has been rated as the leading practice in the country. With our continued growth and exposure to diverse and complex industries and assignments, an exciting opportunity exists for a senior manager or associate director to bring and share their experience in this dynamic environment.

    Duties

    The successful candidate will be expected to perform the following;

    • Advise clients on Transfer Pricing disputes;
    • Assist clients in developing local or multi-territory Transfer Pricing documentation;
    • Provide value-chain/ supply chain related advice;
    • Perform Transfer Pricing reviews as part of statutory audits or due diligences.
    • Expand professional network internally and externally.
    • Act as key client contact on a portfolio of clients.
    • Assist in generating new business;
    • Maintain sound client relationships;
    • Managing staff, including the coaching and development of staff;
    • Manage work performance of team members
    • Management of billings, debtors and assignment budgeting.
    • Compliance with risk management procedures.
    • Assist in supervising office administration functions

    Skills

    • Extensive technical knowledge of transfer pricing
    • Excellent commercial awareness.

    Job Description

    Job Description Purpose of this Position

    Within our Corporate Tax group, the Mergers and Acquisition (M&A) team offers its expertise to clients to enable them to deliver tax effective business transactions, whether they be restructuring, due diligence, re-financings, BEE transactions, mergers and acquisitions or divestments.

    Responsibilities

    • Assist with buy side and sell side due diligences.
    • Assist in advising clients on the structuring of business transactions and tax implications thereof;
    • Drafting of opinions for clients on the tax consequences of restructures, mergers and acquisitions as well as other pertinent matters;
    • Research of complex tax issues;
    • Interpretation of tax legislation;
    • Liaison with SARS and Counsel regarding complex and uncertain tax matters; and
    • Assist With The Implementation Of Transactions Including
    • review of financial models; and
    • Transaction legals.
    • Tax Senior Consultant responsibilities in respect of the above will include:
    • Planning assignment approach including understanding client expectations and scoping work;
    • Pro-actively identifying areas of contention and discussing these with the engagement team and proposing solutions (where possible);
    • Ensuring timely delivery;
    • Assisting with financial portfolio management including WIP management, billings and cash collection.
    • Complying with risk management procedures
    • Training and performance management of consultants.
    • Assisting in managing the work performance of consultants.
    • Assist in expanding professional network internally and externally.
    • Assist in supervising office administration functions.

    Skills / Qualifications / Knowledge Required

    • Relevant professional qualification (CA/Admitted attorney and/or Postgraduate studies in Tax)
    • 2 – 3 years’ experience in a tax consulting environment.
    • A post-graduate tax qualification would be ideal.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Self-starter with the ability to provide solutions to business problems
    • Ability to multi-task yet still pay attention to detail
    • Strong analyitical skills
    • Excellent time management skills and ability to work in a high performance team environment
    • Excellent project management skills
    • Ability to coach and train team members.
