    Senior Manager - Brand.Group Marketing

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    MTN has a stated intent of being a technology Company, beyond the provision of telephony services, driven by a focus on the delivery of traditional Telcom’s, FinTech and Rich Media Content services for consumers and mobile connectivity, fixed connectivity, Unified Communication, Cloud Services, IoT and Machine-to-Machine services, as well as Partnerships, where MTN collaborates with parties that re-sell MTN’s enterprise services. The role of Group Brand and Marketing Communication is to ensure that relevant practices and principles are developed and deployed to the Opcos. The key focus areas for the Brand team is to advance the following:

    • Define practices and routines that are critical towards the delivery of the Business and Brand strategies
    • Understand various market segments that MTN seeks to serve and draw insights on what specific needs MTN can serve.
    • Define a messaging construct that considers MTN’s stated intent.
    • Ensure that MTN is number one across our markets on key brand performance measures, specifically Brand Desire
    • Developing and implementing marketing strategy that aligns to MTN’s drive for growth in the digital, enterprise and other alternative revenue streams
    • Implementing effective measurement tools to allow MTN to understand the impact of above the line, below the line initiatives

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    The Senior Manager: Brand will be accountable to achieve the following:

    • To develop Brand and Marcomms Go-to-Market strategies 
    • To use market insights to inform the GTM frameworks. These insights to be drawn from secondary sources of data, as well as from primary data that emerges from the Brand Health Tracking Study and any other research that may be carried out by MTN from time-to-time;
    • To develop tools, such as dashboards, to monitor adoption and implementation of   playbooks by the Opcos’, these tools must be developed in close collaboration with agency partners, functional departments and other brand colleagues.
    • To develop a mechanism to review issued playbooks and revise and update these, based on inputs from the relevant issuing teams
    • To contribute to MANCO reports aimed at keeping the MANCO Executive team updated on the work carried out by this role

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Education:

    • Minimum of 4 - year Business/Commercial/Marketing Degree, or equivalent
    • Post-graduate qualification
    • Masters/MBA as advantage

    Experience:

    • 5 - 8 years of consumer (B2C) and enterprise (B2B) segment marketing work experience in a global / multinational business environment (understanding of emerging markets advantageous)
    • 3 - 5 years of experience in a supervisory / managerial role
    • Experience in leading change / transformation (marketing) at an operational level advantageous
    • Experience in continuous improvement through the implementation of best practices
    • Experience in working in a multinational organisation/Group function/other African territories advantageous

    Competencies:

    • Segment marketing management, ideally in both B2B and B2C
    • Brand Go-to-market development and execution
    • Development of brand and segment guidelines and toolkits
    • Project management 
    • Ability to influence collaborate with key stakeholders (negotiation and bargaining)
    • Command of English, verbal and written

    Manager - Project Manager.Strategy and Innovation

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    • Delivery within scope, timelines, budget and quality
    • Delivery of projects following MTN project management way of work and within quality standards
    • Acceptance of the various minimum completed project milestones by the project owner/sponsor
    • Successful Go to Market with no negative impact on supporting channels and/or customer experience
    • Reporting on project progress against plan
    • Positive feedback from the project owner/sponsor on project close-out
    • Management of resolution of issues and risks
    • Delivers solutions that reflects the range of project management knowledge/methods/practices
    • Adherence to Programme Management Office Governance

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Project Delivery
      • Manages all aspects of the project pertaining to scope, delivery timelines, budget, risks and quality to ensure successful project execution.
      • Define the appropriate project governance and controls
      • Define and confirm the project scope with relevant stakeholders
    • Governance
      • Promotes adherence to governance by ensuring that relevant processes and prescribed methodologies are observed.
      • Supports the Programme manager in mitigating audit, compliance, procurement and risk issues
      • Foster quality deliverables
      • Ensures approved processes are followed to manage deviations to scope and any other agreed project outcomes.
      • Ensures that all necessary approvals are secured and in place.
    • Project Management
      • Facilitates detailed project scoping and planning
      • Facilitate the creation and maintenance of minimum key project documentation
      • Manages performance of cross functional teams
      • Manage complex/cross-functional projects
      • Sets up and manage project governance meetings regularly
      • Proactively manages key risks, issues, and dependencies and sets mitigation actions in collaboration with relevant stakeholders
      • Helps document change management, communication and training requirements and facilitates identification of respective champions to drive these changes across the business
    • Commercial Readiness
      • Ensure all cross functional impacts are identified and managed as part of the projects
      • Provides input into change management and communication strategies to facilitate operationalisation of the change across all stakeholders (internal and external)
      • Ensure Project & Portfolio management tool is updated as and when require
      • Risk Management & Escalations
      • Ensure projects risks are identified and managed with mitigations plans in place
      • Manages and resolves team escalations to mitigate delivery risk
      • Escalates issues that will result in significant time, scope, employee/customer or cost impacts if not resolved
      • Manages and provides solutions to issues that require formal resolution
      • Performance
      • Monitoring and tracking the health status of the project based on the identified constraints and objectives
      • Create plans to address any deviations from scope, timelines and quality
    • Reporting
      • Report on a regular basis to business stakeholders on progress
      • Reports in accordance with the agreed upon templates and governance structures
      • Compile relevant project & portfolio reporting
    • Team building
      • Identifies cross functional roles required to support project delivery and negotiate with relevant line managers for their allocation to the project
      • Assists with project onboarding of the allocated team members
      • Works closely with the team to clearly articulate and document team members roles and responsibilities
      • Manages and resolves conflicts within the team
    • Stakeholder engagement:
      • Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders of projects
      • Build relationship with project executive sponsors and/or project owners to ensure speedy resolution of escalations.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor’s degree
    • Project Management Certification
    • (PMP,CAPM, Agile, Prince2, etc)
    • Minimum of 6 years’ experience -
    • Minimum 3-5 years managing projects for end to end delivery using PMBOK/PRINCE2 methodologies
    • Experience in taking products to market (Go to market)
    • Experience in Managing complex/crossfunctional projects
    • Agile Experience
    • Knowledge of other Agile approaches: XP,Kanban, Crystal, FDD, etc.
    • Awareness and experience with widely successful Agile techniques: User Stories, ATDD, TDD, Continuous Integration,
    • Continuous Testing, Pairing, Automated
