    Rail Co-ordinator - Sasolburg

    Overview    

    To ensure continuous improvement with regards to rail logistics by ensuring timeous delivery of raw materials to the different Omnia Fertilizer sites. All activities, roles and responsibilities are aligned to the world class (manufacturing) philosophy, principles and practices.

    To additionally ensure that the following objectives are met:

    • Rail Logistics and
    • Safety

    Qualifications    

    • Grade 12 with Maths and Science
    • Relevant Safety qualification
    • Knowledge of OHSA, ISO standards and SANS 3000-1

    Experience    

    • 3 – 5 Years’ Experience in a Railway related or safety field

    Duties    

    Rail Logistics:

    • Continuous monitoring and expediting of railway wagons to ensure timely delivery of raw materials to different Omnia sites around the country and including Sasolburg
    • Daily communication with service providers, contractors and internal customers
    • Responsible to ensure that the rail off-loading of raw materials takes place in line with specifications and prescriptions at the main factory in Sasolburg
    • Oversee rail matters related to the safe handling of rail wagons as well as adhering to the requirements as prescribed by the Railway Safety Regulator.
    • Ensure that raw materials are placed on time when requested from the Sasolburg Transnet station to Omnia Sasolburg facilities.
    • Ensure that empty wagons are cleared timeously from the Sasolburg siding to Transnet Sasolburg station

    Safety:

    • Ensure safe operation of all railway activities at Omnia’s Sasolburg siding, and see to good and proper housekeeping of the rail designated areas.
    • Monitor and manage contractors while they are on site by issuing the relevant documentation as required by Omnia
    • Attend regular training to ensure compliance in terms of the Railway Safety Regulator Act as well as other legal requirements such as the OHSA, ISO and other relevant standards
    • Daily capturing and updating of information with regards to wagon movement and reporting
    • Responsible for safe working on site, and adherence to the safe operation procedures and work instructions

    Magazine Coordinator (NC, Middalplat)

    Qualifications    

    • Grade 12
    • Magazine Master Certificate (CIE)
    • Passed responsibleperson exam(CIE)

    Experience    

    • 3 years’ demonstrated experience in material handling.
    • 3 years’ demonstrated experience in magazine & stock
    • control within the mining explosives environment
    • 2 years demonstrated experience in people management

    Advantageous:

    • 3 year demonstrated experience post the Magazine Master Certificate

    Duties    

    Magazine Management

    • To manage, monitor and co-ordinate all magazine administration and processes surrounding the movement of goods/products through the magazines
    • To ensure that stock is stored in a planned and organised manner to maximise the efficient use of space (ensure floor to system matching), and FIFO management of stock.
    • To manage the timeous movement of products by ensuring that the orders are picked and dispatched, with completion of all required paperwork, in an orderly and safe manner to ensure operational targets are achieved.
    • To ensure that inventory cycle counts occur as per the schedule provided by the Stock Controller.

    Licensing and Safe Storage

    • To ensure that the magazines are suitably licensed with the CIE
    • To ensure that stocks stored in magazines fall within the prescriptions of the license, to ensure the security of stock so that threats are eliminated
    • People Management
    • To plan and managing work scheduled and leave cycles/work roster, to manage overtime, and to ensure that work is carried out in accordance with issued instructions and requirements.
    • To manage all aspects of human capital through the HR value chain and in accordance to legislation, in particular with reference to employee overtime and performance management.
    • To ensure training needs are met, work instructions are reviewed and observed to ensure compliance to standard operating procedures.

    SHERQ Management

    • To ensure that prescribed and appropriate procedures are adhered to with regards to the handling and storage of products, as well as housekeeping to ensure compliance with all SHERQ requirements.
    • Responsible for the housekeeping of the magazine / silo’s and yard to ensure that these areas are neat, tidy and safe.

    Blasting Technician

    Overview    

    Provide technical support and advice to the operations and clients about the implementation of, training on, blasts.

    Qualifications    

    • Matric certificate
    • Academy of Explosives Technology (AET1) or equivalent
    • Academy of Explosives Technology (AET Advanced) or equivalent
    • Competency B
    • Minimum of a Code B drivers licence with 5 years driving experience (preferably Manual) 

    Experience    

    • 2 years demonstrated experience in mining / explosives environment
    • 2 years demonstrated experience in surface blasting
    • 2 years demonstrated experience in people management

    Duties    

    Technical support:

    • To provide technical support and advice to the operations and clients about the implementation of training on blasts 
    • Build and maintain good internal and external customer relationships
    • Monitoring of equipment and analysing the performance thereof 

    Prevented/mitigated company risks:

    • To assist with all the relevant training and risk management documentation
    • Ensuring compliance with Mine Health and Safety Act and adherence to stipulated disciplines for continuous improvement of
    • occupational Safety, Health, Environment, Risk and Quality that impact on the organisation
    • Promoting a safety conscious culture and ensuring adherence to all legislation

    Blast Quality Reviews:

    • Conduct and evaluate blast results using databases, instrumentation, blasting software’s (e.g. BME BlastMap software)
    • Write blast report writing as per requirements

    Job Competencies    

    • Intermediate skills in Ms Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
    • Technical skills in blast designs

    Snr Blasting Technician (NC-Tshipi)
