    Data Capturer: Returns

    Jonathan Ball Publishers a division of Media24 (Pty)Ltd based in Denver, Johannesburg is looking for a Data Capturer in the Returns Department, reporting to the Team Leader.

    Duties for this position:

    • Capture and allocate Returns Authorizations.
    • Liaise with customers with regards to queries as well as ensuring that RA’s are sent.
    • Relieve other staff members within the department.
    • Maintain an efficient filing system.
    • General departmental functions.

    Requirements/Experience:

    • Grade 12.
    • Must have at least 3 years’ experience in a similar position.
    • Excellent computer skills.

    Sales Representative: Schools, Libraries & Special Sales

    This leading South African book publisher and distributor requires the services of a Sales representative for Jonathan Ball Publishers Division, based in Johannesburg.

    Job Requirements:

    • Excellent knowledge of books
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
    • Ability to foster good relations with customers and colleagues
    • Strong interpersonal, organisational, and administrative skills
    • Computer literacy is essential
    • Sales experience to schools and libraries would be advantageous
    • The candidate must be prepared to work out of office hours when required and represent the company in a beneficial light
    • A valid code 08 driver’s licence and availability to travel is essential
    • A matric certificate
    • A relevant qualification is preferred

    Finance Manager

    Main purpose of the role:

    To manage the finance department, including the month-end closing process, preparation of annual budgets and forecasts, providing financial information to the senior management while ensuring compliance with IFRS, statutory requirements and the group policies and deadlines.

    Key responsibilities:

    (The primary tasks, functions, and deliverables of the role)

    • Manage the financial month-end closing process (posting and approving journals in SAP, uploading information in HFM, preparation of financial reports, etc.) in line with IFRS and the group policies and timelines;
    • Manage the year-end and half-year-end financial closing process, prepare financial packs for the group consolidation and disclosure;
    • Prepare, review, and consolidate budgets and forecasts;
    • Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations;
    • Prepare and review Annual Financial Statements for the company’s subsidiaries;
    • Provide information requested by the internal and external auditors;
    • Manage tax compliance, prepare tax returns for foreign subsidiaries;
    • Prepare financial analyses requested by the CFO and other members for senior management to support decision-making;
    • Design, implement and monitor policies and processes for the team and the division, in compliance with divisional and group financial strategy;
    • Manage and ensure IFRS compliance and legal compliance (relevant acts including but not limited to Companies Act, Income Tax Act, VAT Act);
    • Consolidate financial information prepared by the Management Accountants;
    • Continuously look at ways to reduce costs and improve efficiency;
    • Manage team members in such a way that they are motivated, energised and empowered;
    • Assist the CFO with strategic financial management and projects.

    Requirements

    • Tertiary qualification in accounting / finance - CA (SA) or similar.
    • 5+ year’s post qualification experience in the corporate environment.
    • At least 2 years’ experience managing a finance team.
    • Experience in media or distribution industry is a plus.
    • Previous experience with SAP is essential, experience with HFM is a plus.
    • Thorough knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
    • Knowledge of tax legislation and the Companies Act.
    • Sound knowledge of the budgeting and forecasting processes.
    • People management processes.
