    Packing Operator

    Scope of Responsibilities:

    This role entails operating high speed sophisticated machines by managing settings and conducting tests to ensure a successful operation in the production process. The position judiciously monitors all activities happening on the line, records them for accuracy, clarification, and verification, and reports to the Packing Superintendent.

    Even while the machine is in operation, the Packing operator monitors it closely to detect any signs of malfunctioning that may affect the quality of work and tackles it immediately to avoid it getting worse. As one responsible for the line, Packing operators ensure that all packing materials is managed, not wasted. They request for more materials even while little is remaining. Packing operators also inspect all finished goods, checking for maintenance in production quality and standards.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Perform necessary pre-operation activities to ensure proper equipment startup and operation on multiple pieces of equipment
    • Operate/monitor multiple pieces of equipment during operation to ensure quality production and minimal unplanned stops
    • Communicate with team members and support teams to ensure continuous production of the correct product at high quality levels with minimal wasted time and materials
    • Work in a fast-paced, high-speed environment, follow standardized work and adhere to safe work practices in a continuous improvement environment
    • Housekeeping and sanitation
    • Perform periodic checks on process and solve problems as detected
    • Contribute to waste management programs.
    • Assist junior operators in their assigned responsibilities.
    • Manage the rehydration system and minimize packaging losses
    • Update and present results on the SQDCP Boards
    • Ensure all packaging materials used are counted, wrapped and ready for returning to Dry Stores.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    • Grade 12 or equivalent
    • Technical Qualification
    • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a production environment
    • 3 years of operating experience
    • Experience in the food manufacturing industry is essential
    • Excellent interpersonal, communication skills
    • Assertive and results orientated
    • Ability to perform well in a stressful environment
    • Computer literate (MS Office)

    Food Services and Retail Marketing Manager

    PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

    To drive profitable growth McCain through development of a robust growth strategy, building a purpose led brand, ensuring an optimal portfolio, innovation and brand purpose activation.  The role is expected to:

    • Deliver the growth agenda for the company,
    • Define and lead marketing strategy for food service and retail channel
    • PxL ownership
    • Drive brand purpose 
    • Brand Communication
    • Create and drive growth opportunities
    • Deliver on Innovation strategy and commercialisation
    • Have an integrated work relationship with Retail and Food-Service channels
    • Partner with Category and Shopper marketing to deliver on the brand plans
    • Develop Inspiring brand communication
    • Oversee budgets
    • Digital savvy
    • Ensures that team has capabilities to deliver
    • Liaises with region and global teams and leverages.

    KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

    Ensure delivery against business objectives:

    • Lead integrated Brand Plan process
    • Achieve budget, Gross Profit, Nett Sales Value and Volume for total Retail and Food Services channels and by segment
    • Achieve annual GP through the implementation of brand plans with defined targets, plans to drive targets, innovation and communication plans.
    • Manage GP in terms of product mix, pricing, promotions and innovation
    • Collaborative role in terms of pricing strategy

    Marketing Strategy

    • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the market, customers and consumers
    • Data and insights to be incorporated throughout strategies, plans and plan adaptations
    • Identify growth opportunities  across Retail and Food Service
    • Develop plans that are rooted in consumer and customer insights to leverage growth opportunities

    Innovation

    Develop annual and future innovation plans:

    • Ensure category growth by driving innovation and identifying opportunities for growth( Renovation, Value engineering, refreshments)
    • NPD strategy and launches that are in line with profitability targets and growth agenda
    • Follow and implement innovation per global guidelines
    • Ensures robust tracking and corrective measures on innovation

    Operational Planning

    • Leverages the Portfolio Review monthly process to ensure delivery against business objectives (highlighting progress against plan and gaps to plan. Develops gap closing measures)
    • Inputs into Demand planning
    • Collaborates in monthly meetings with both Retail channel teams and Food Service to deliver to plan
    • Inputs and contributes in overall commercial meetings and plans

    Drive Execution

    • Ensure excellent execution and deployment of assets
    • Partner with the customer functions to ensure that customer and shopper marketing translates the marketing plans effectively for customer execution
    • Report on category and brand performance, identifying corrective actions and directly manage marketing budgets to ensure excellence in execution
    • Ensures accountability and practices continuous evaluation of marketing investment for effectiveness and efficacy

    People engagement and development

    • Build and develop strong talent in marketing
    • Provide clear priorities with associated KPI deliverables
    • Builds a marketing culture with digital agility and insights led
    • Ensure robust growth plans for people

    EXPERIENCE/RELEVANT REQUIREMENTS:

    Team management & leadership; experience in marketing, strong understanding of FMCG categories and category management; understanding of sales; ability to work cross-functionally; project management skills, experience in strategy development; ability to make things happen/execution; good working knowledge of the SA customers. Sales and/or customer marketing experience beneficial.

    Candidate should have strong communication team, be collaborative, have ability to influence others, be a proven self-starter, and be a problem solver with a growth mentality

    • B Com/other relevant Degree & Postgraduate degree
