    Financial Accountant – Fruit Industry – Paarl

    About the job

    This Financial Accountant position reviews the financial transactions, performs reconciliations versus both internal and external documents and creates financial reports from that information to management.

    Key Performance Outputs

    • Accuracy in Inventory and Budgetary Adjustments: Ensure correct reflection of inventory and budgetary adjustments during journal approval processes to maintain accurate financial records.
    • Timely Creation and Investigation of Purchase Orders (POs): Create outstanding POs at month-end and investigate errors to ensure appropriate actions are taken, contributing to effective procurement management.
    • Review and Maintenance of General Ledger (GL) Allocations: Regularly review GL allocations to ensure appropriateness and correctness, contributing to accurate financial reporting.
    • Maintenance of Fixed Asset Register: Maintain the fixed asset register on the internal system and add all acquired assets as needed to facilitate accurate asset management.
    • Monthly Depreciation: Run depreciation calculations on a monthly basis to accurately reflect asset depreciation in financial statements.
    • Preparation of Dashboard Reporting and Cash Flow Analysis: Draft dashboard reports and cash flow analyses based on results, meeting treasury requirements for informed decision-making.
    • Monthly Reconciliation of Balance Sheet Accounts: Prepare monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts according to standard operating procedures (SOP) for financial accuracy.
    • Verification of Stock Counts and Reconciliation: Verify stock counts with relevant controllers and ensure accurate reflection in internal systems to maintain inventory integrity.
    • Assistance in Audit Process and Return Preparation: Assist in audit processes and preparation of returns to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and financial accuracy.
    • Authorisation of Creditors’ Payments and Review of Adjustments: Cross-check and release creditors’ payments and review/authorise adjustments to ensure accuracy and compliance with financial policies.

    Requirements Minimum Education/Qualification/Experience

    • National Diploma in Finance/ B Com Accounting
    • Netsuite / ERP knowledge an advantage
    • Minimum 3 – 4 years of work experience in a similar role

    Financial Officer – Fruit Industry – Paarl

    Job Description

    This Finance Officer role plays a crucial role in maintaining financial accuracy by reconciling monthly creditors, processing weekly grower payments, and handling sales invoices efficiently.

    Key Performance Outputs

    • Reconciling Monthly Creditors.
    • Processing of weekly Grower payments.
    • Processing sales invoices.
    • Bill supplier invoices from approved purchase orders and ensure they match the supplier invoice received.
    • Follow up on outstanding purchase orders not yet approved.
    • Prepare PMR and load all bank payment requests for approval.
    • Ensure statements and debtors reports are issued by the last day of the month.
    • Follow-up all outstanding payments.

    Educational / Technical

    Royalty Accountant – Fruit Industry – Stellenbosch

    About: 

    My Client is a leading intellectual property management company operating in the agriculture sector with a major component of the business focusing on the licensing of plant breeder rights. They are seeking a Royalty Accountant to join their financial team as it is a crucial role maintaining accurate licensing and royalty financial records in terms of their intellectual property contractual obligations towards IP owners.

    Key Responsibilities:

     Main duties include, but are not limited to:

    Financial Oversight: Maintain and ensure that all financial royalty contractual obligations are met.

    License Reconciliation: Regularly conduct reconciliations of issued licenses and plantings to ensure all license fees and/or royalties are accurately invoiced and accounted for.

    Royalty Reporting: Prepare and reconcile detailed monthly breeder royalty reports, covering all royalties and license fees due to variety IP owners.

    Global Reporting: Facilitate accurate and timely submission of royalty/license sales data from all subsidiaries to the parent company.

    Audit Facilitation: Facilitate independent audits of plantings, growers’ licensing, exports, royalties, and breeder reports to ensure compliance and accuracy.

    Stakeholder Coordination: Liaise with customers, Operations, and Sales teams to coordinate customer audit visits and reconciliations.

    Data Reconciliation: Identify and resolve discrepancies between licensing data (including previous invoicing) and actual plantings.

    Communication: Communicate reconciliation outcomes to all stakeholders for further action, including providing instructions to the bookkeeper for necessary invoicing and/or issuing credit notes.

    Reporting: Report directly to the Group Financial Executive.

    Qualifications and experience required:

    • Post Matric relevant accounting qualification with completed SAIPA/SAICA articles required.
    • Minimum 2 years post articles experience required.

    Senior Farming Field Manager – North West, Northern Free State & Western Free State

    Minimum qualifications and experience

    Ideal candidate must have a minimum tertiary qualification, B.SC Agriculture or B.Comm Agricultural Economics degree. Demonstrated work experience of minimum 5 to 8 years will be an advantage.

    Duties & Responsibilities :

    Plan, execute, manage, and report on the designated South Africa Farming units.

    Planning:

    • Oversee the construction of crop production plans by Field Managers for maize, soybeans, sunflower, wheat, and canola for designated farming units in conjunction with the Contractor.
    • The production plan includes making chemical-, seed, fertilizer & lime recommendations in conjunction with respective chemical representatives and agronomists.
    • Oversee the building of a set budget for each unit covering all necessary scenarios within an achievable cost range with the Field Manager.
    • Evaluate different input prices and farming practice to determine the most efficient production plan.

    Execution:

    • Oversee the execution of the production plans within the set budget together with Field Manager and Farming Contractor.
    • Oversee that land preparations are done accurately and on time.
    • Ensure timely planting and application of inputs within correct procedure and circumstances as set out in the production plan with Farming Contractor and Field Manager.
    • Ensure timely and accurate delivery of inputs and contracting services rendered by Field Managers
    • Ensure accurate delivery of harvested crops into designated silos and/or coordinating on-farm loading of harvested crops to end-point destinations.

    Managing:

    • Assist Field Managers with advice on how to coordinate his/her Farming Contractors with their day-to-day crop production activities and decision making.
    • Continuously visiting fields planted to follow up and help solve challenges, problems and monitor general progress.
    • Ensure that Field Managers arrange continuous farm visits by agronomists and representatives to the farms to evaluate crop development.
    • Ensure that Field Managers manage on-farm stock, do regular stock taking and implement correct inputs.

    Reporting:

    • Frequent updating and reporting on crop progress as well as projecting production outcomes based on agronomical characteristics and facts for the designated area.
    • Reporting on factors that influence the crops during the season and potential damage and/or solutions to it.
    • Reporting on the planned budget and any factors that may influence it toward potential over or under spending for the designated farming unit.
    • On-farm as well as storage facility stock quantities and making use of Shed to assist with inventory management.
    • Ensure that crop estimates are complete, reported and updated pre-harvest.
    • Ensure correct reporting by Field Managers of deliveries into designated delivery points of harvested crops and reconcile with reports from Support in Stellenbosch Head Office.

    Qualifications and Experience :

    • B.SC Agriculture or B. Comm Agricultural Economics degree.
    • 5 to 8 years in related Industry
