    Analytical Chemist Intern

    The main purpose of the Analytical Chemist Intern is to execute laboratory analysis that is accurate and reliable, in accordance to the approved methods in order to support production. This opportunity will be attractive to graduates who wish to apply their skills and expertise in a progressive and challenging cross-functional environment.

    KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

    • Routine and non-routine analysis to support continuous production
    • Calibration and verification of laboratory equipment
    • Accountable for basic laboratory administration and interaction with plant personnel
    • Capable of interpretation of data and sentencing
    • Adhere to quality and safety requirements.
    • Good housekeeping and responsible waste management
    • WHAT QUALIFICATIONS YOU SHOULD HAVE
    • National Diploma in Analytical Chemistry OR 
    • Degree in Chemistry / Analytical Chemistry
    • Good verbal and written communication
    • Self-motivated and independent
    • High standard of workmanship
    • Good planning and attention to detail
    • Must be able to work under pressure

    Quality Intern

    The main purpose of the Quality Internship is to assist with quality engineering systems and technical support for the entire product lifecycle with special reference to process development and product manufacturing methods, design and research, inputs, development, production and testing as well as problem solving. The Quality Intern will assist the quality engineer with quality related aspects with regard to specific project standards. 

    KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

    Quality Management System

    • Assist with the development of quality system processes, program status indicators, performance measurements and reporting requirements.
    • Assist with conducting internal audits according to ISO 9001:2015.

    Quality Engineering

    • Apply sound systematic problem-solving methodologies in identifying, prioritising, communicating and resolving quality issues.
    • Assist with compiling and updating PFMEAs, quality control plans and process qualifications.
    • Assist with supplier complaints and qualifications.

    Operations Support and Continuous Improvement

    • Review process inspection-data and prepare statistical and operational performance reports.
    • Provide trending analysis on quality issues and performance metrics.
    • Assist with the control of non-conforming items during development and series production.
    • Perform product and process evaluations to identify areas for improvement and lead continuous improvement projects.

    WHAT QUALIFICATIONS YOU SHOULD HAVE

    • BEng/BSc in Chemical Engineering
    • Good communication skills and time management
    • Problem solving skills/Fault finding/Trouble shooting
    • High standard of workmanship
    • Ability to maintain good working relationship with team
    • Must be able to work under pressure

    Maintenance Supervisor - Mechanical

    • To keep in good repair all relevant services throughout the plant to ensure vital services are maintained by planning and managing all preventative, reactive and statutory tasks.
    • To supervise the analysis, diagnosis and repairing of faults in highly complex and critical engineering installations and Electrical systems.
    • To supervise pre-planned and essential unplanned (reactive) repair works and general maintenance activities primarily at the request of the customer (Manufacturing Facilities). These work need analysis of varying options and effective solutions.
    • To be knowledgeable in SAP plant Maintenance for the purpose of generating work requests, scheduling the PM03, PM02 and PM01 maintenance tasks.
    • The need of highly developed diagnostic skills is often paramount to be able to resolve faults on some of the specialized equipment that does not have the modern fault finding computerized processes build into it – An extremely strong mechanical background.
    • To liaise with suppliers regarding plant and/or equipment failures and to order the supply of goods and/or services as necessary to ensure rectification of the fault and conformance to RDM Engineering Standards.
    • Inputs to modification committee regarding selection of equipment to be used in a hazardous area.
    • To fully understand the working of the mechanical systems, utility services (Steam and compressed air) and equipment within the plant and to work in compliance with:
    • Occupational health and safety act.
    • Explosives regulations.
    • All mecahnical regulations as per OHS Act and regulations 85 of 1993.
    • To be appointed as GMR 2.7
    • Other legal and regulatory controls and documentation.
    • WHAT QUALIFICATIONS YOU SHOULD HAVE
    • Minimum National Engineering Diploma or B-Tech mechanical engineering or equivalent qualification.
    • Passed trade test as a qualified Artisan in the mechanical field of engineering.
    • Minimum 5 years’ experience in supervising and managing an engineering team of artisans in different disciplines, preferably in Explosives or Petro-Chemical industry.
    • Supervisory Management to at least N4 will be advantageous in supervising and managing the workshop and service providers rendering a service to the plants.
    • Good insight in the operation and maintenance of John Thomson boilers and Atlas Copco Compressors will be advantages.
    • Competent in the SAP Plant Maintenance Module and Budgets.
    • Ability to work with minimum supervision.
    • Reading and interpretation of drawings, P&ID’s and MLD’s
    • Perform high-level precision work.
    • Good insight in the repair and maintenance of machinery and equipment.
    • Code 8 driver’s license.
    • Willingness to work shifts and overtime.
