    Instrument Mechanician - Umbogintwini

    Job Description    

    • Provide information to Supervisors, Co-workers and subordinates by telephone, written communication, email or in person.
    • Analyse test results, machine error messages and information obtained from operators in order to diagnose equipment faults
    • Ensure the smooth functioning of measuring and control units and equipment within the plants
    • Conduct Scheduled checks and inspections of measuring and control units of the plant and equipment.
    • Detection and fault finding of malfunctions and the resolving thereof
    • Assist with solving control related problems relating to the plant in which they are assigned to work
    • Assist Engineers and Foreman in various tasks by planning and gathering data.
    • Perform maintenance duties in areas of the plant as instructed by the Department Foreman
    • Assist with minor projects and plant upgrades relevant to the plant and their trade
    • Use trade specific knowledge and experience in the application of instruments and control engineering principles to effect practical solutions
    • Work with tools and equipment to repair or service instrument and control units on plant machinery and equipment
    • Guide, coach and mentor Apprentices. Identify and report on their training needs, progress and skills development
    • Monitor the functioning of various plant and equipment and report findings
    • Order required spares and materials from the store
    • Comply with all safety regulations as per company rules and procedures as well as what is prescribed in OHS act

    Qualifications & Experience    

    • Completed recognised apprenticeship in the Instrument Trade
    • Experience in Chemical Manufacturing Plant, preferably Sulphuric acid.
    • Experience with Yokogawa DCS systems.
    • Experience with Endress and Hauser equipment.
    • Knowledge of CMMS systems
    • Computer literate.
    • Must be trained in and able to use emergency safety equipment i.e. breathing apparatus sets and air mask sets in difficult conditions.

    Materials Handler - Lilianton

    Job Description    

    • Pick and prepare stock for loading onto trucks in accordance with picking slips.
    • Communicate with Warehouse Team Leader or Despatch Controller timeously should a product not be in the warehouse as stated on the picking slip.
    • Ensure FIFO system w.r.t. expired products is applied.
    • Expired products to be moved to allocated area for expired products.
    • Notify Warehouse Team Leader w.r.t. expired product moved to the allocated area.
    • Load and offload vehicles in accordance with documentation.
    • Ensure no broken or damaged products enter or leave the warehouse unless approved by the Warehouse Team Leader.
    • Report faulty, broken or damaged products, leaking drums to Warehouse Team Leader.
    • Ensure products (drums) are neat and clean before consolidated for despatch.
    • Damaged product in the warehouse or on a vehicle is to be repacked immediately
    • Ensure product is correct marked or labelled once it has been repacked.
    • Communicate all discrepancies noted w.r.t. stock shortages to the Despatch Controller/Warehouse Team Leader.
    • Required to drive a forklift and Reach Truck
    • Complete forklift and Reach Truck checklist daily
    • Keep forklift and Reach Truck battery charges in good working condition
    • Report any defects on the Forklift and Reach Truck to Warehouse Team Leader
    • Ensure accurate final checks of product picked and prepared for delivery
    • Ensure good housekeeping standards and cleanliness are maintained in the warehouse
    • Palletisation of stock, barcoding of small packs, packing of boxes onto pallets and shrink-wrapping.
    • Participate in stocktakes as and when required
    • Understand and adopt good warehousing and storage practises
    • Uphold and work according to all internal and external safety guidelines
    • Comply with SHEQ Quality system requirements and standards
    • Carry out weekly checklist on correct way of racking and stacking as well as removal of damaged or broken pallets
    • Report findings and action taken to the Warehouse Team Leader
    • Safety drive the forklift and Reach Truck to ensure no product damage prior to loading or when unloading or stacking.
    • May on occasion be required to work overtime to load or unload trucks and/or containers.

    Qualifications & Experience    

    Minimum education

    • Grade 12
    • Minimum 1 years’ relevant experience in logistics, distribution, production or warehousing as a Materials Handler.
    • Must be able to drive both a Forklift and Reach Truck, be medically fit to drive a Forklift and Reach Truck and be in possession of a valid Forklift as well as Reach Truck driver’s license.
    • Must maintain medical fitness to drive both a forklift and Reach Truck in order to have the relevant driver’s license renewed successfully.
    • Possess excellent communication (verbal and written) skills.
    • Possess a sound knowledge of all Acts, i.e. hazardous chemicals, road transportation, etc.
    • Must be able to work independently as well as within a team and be deadline driven.
    • Must be able to report to the Despatch Controller as well as Warehouse Team Leader
    • Must be in good physical condition as it is a position that requires much physical activity

    Job Description    

    • Obtain raw materials, for QC testing
    • Ad hoc sampling of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products for technical
    • Maintain good housekeeping in all areas of the QC and technical Lab
    • Assist technical with sending samples to the sales team for delivery to customers or customer sites.
    • To wash all glassware for QC and Technical as per procedure so that it is done effectively and safely
    • To transport retention samples to and from the retention room
    • To maintain good practice in the retention room and dispose of expired retention samples as per procedure
    • Maintain retention samples according to the waste disposal plan
    • To act as a messenger when required, and perform reasonable general tasks as per request of the QC supervisor

    Job Description    

    • Receive and process exports orders from Channel Partners timeously. Manage the export S-Loc, ensuring that goods are appropriately dispatched, and the capturing and processing of SAP transactions (Stock movements & Invoicing) are prioritized and done timeously.
    • Formally respond to Channel Partners regarding delivery dates after discussion with relevant heads of departments.
    • Report on OTIF for the department.
    • Administration of repair centre quotes from all repair centres and ensure all documentation loops are closed out and filed accordingly and SAP transactions are processed (Stock movements and Invoicing).
    • Manage and report on company’s freight costs.
    • Prepare EIUs Shipping documents as orders come in timeously.
    • Handle all imports when required.
    • Establish priorities and collaborate with transportation providers to ensure prompt shipment   pick-ups and track shipments.
    • Monitor and manage courier costs.
    • Use Freight Forwarders where possible.
    • Develop and maintain a network of couriers and freight forwarders.
    • Always conduct rate negotiations with couriers and freight forwarders to ensure the best rate.
    • Generate Works Orders and inform Production Manager of new control equipment orders.
    • Ensure all filing is always up to date and prepare previous year filing for off-site storage.
    • Deal with Auditors (internal and external) when required.
    • Handle customer queries.

    General

    • A sound working knowledge of MS Office applications i.e. Excel, Word, PowerPoint etc.
    • Proven administrative excellence.
    • Diploma in Logistics or equivalent.
    • 3 years’ experience in logistics and exports and imports.
