    Electrical Maintenance Team Lead - Employees of Mission - All/or USEFMs, EFMs, or MOHs

    Duties

    • The incumbent oversees daily operation of the building electrical engineering systems at the three Embassy Compounds and numerous owned/leased residential properties in Pretoria. S/He manages work load as per the approved planned maintenance schedule, provides service for repairs, assigns tasks to subordinate staff, performs troubleshooting, and provides hands-on technical guidance to subordinate staff. Incumbent is directly supervised by the Electrical Generator Maintenance Supervisor. S/He inspects work of planned maintenance, repairs, special projects and contractors to ensure compliance with requirements. Building electrical engineering systems maintained by incumbent include, but not limited to, emergency generator controls, fire alarm control, elevators, automatic transfer switches, relay controls, programmable control systems for switchgear, medium voltage transformers, and motor control centers. S/He assists the maintenance staff at the Consulates in Johannesburg, Durban, and Cape Town. S/He performs scheduled after-hours duty for 24/7 emergencies.

    Qualifications and Evaluations

    Requirements:
    EXPERIENCE:  

    • Four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in operation and maintenance of building electrical and power generation services in commercial and/or residential and/or government buildings is required.
    • One (1) years of progressively responsible supervisory experience is required.

    JOB KNOWLEDGE:

    • Local buildings codes and local utility company’s regulations. Utility companies like electrical, gas, water/sewer are required.

    Education Requirements:

    • Completion of high school (12th grade) is required. Completion of three years of local technical college/trade school where the N3 and Red Seal certifications are earned OR an associate degree in either electrical or mechanical trade is required.

    Evaluations:
    LANGUAGE:

    • Good Working Knowledge English, written and spoken is required. 

    SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    • Work independently in managing the work-load of maintenance trade technicians. Schedule work for subordinate staff for daily, weekly, monthly routines. Monitor work to ensure assigned tasks are carried out by workers promptly and in full measure. Good technical troubleshooting skills of electrical building systems. Good computer skills and understanding. Local Driver's License is required. The job holder must have held a driver's license for at least 5 years.

    Duties

    • The Mailroom Clerk receives, dispatches, sorts, and distributes mail from multiple sources.  These include but are not limited to local and international mail, diplomatic pouch material, and commercial courier services.  The incumbent spends a large percentage of the time serving customers at the Mailroom service window.  The incumbent is supervised by the Mailroom Supervisor/Mailroom Team Lead with overall supervision by a designated Information Programs Center employee.

    Duties

    • The incumbent is the Human Resources (HR) Clerk on the American portfolio providing HR services to American employees, their eligible family members (EFMs) and Members of Household (MOH) assigned to the U.S. Mission to South Africa. 
    • S/he maintains responsibility for the processing, verification, and maintenance of personnel-related documentation and to provide general office management support for the HR Officers, EFM Professional Associate and Senior HR Assistant within the American portfolio.  Acts as back-up to the Senior HR Assistant and HR Secretary during their absences.  Supports the entire HR office on an as-needed basis.

    • Under the supervision of the Admin Section Lead, this position is one of seven positions that performs programmatic and administrative support duties for CDC SA Branch staff.

    • The incumbent operates safely and efficiently an unarmored U.S. Government-owned or leased motor vehicle to transport passengers and/or cargo.  Works as a messenger and administrative clerk as directed.

    Shipment Clerk - All Interested Applicants/All Sources

    • Working under the Supervisory Administrative Assistant of the Overseas Building Operations (OBO) project team, the Shipment Clerk obtains customs clearance for incoming and outgoing official shipments in support of the New Consulate Compound (NCC) Lagos-Nigeria.  The incumbent also works with the Ministry of Transportation to facilitate vehicle registration and inspection.

    Requirements:
    EXPERIENCE: 

    • At least two (2) years of experience in customs, shipping, or logistics is required.

    JOB KNOWLEDGE: 

    • Must have strong knowledge of local cargo, shipping, and customs procedures and regulations. Strong knowledge of local laws and regulations governing all types of vehicle use, registration, insurance, import/export, etc.

    Supervisory Administrative Assistant - All Interested Applicants/All Sources

    Duties

    • The Supervisory Administrative Assistant provides a wide range of administrative assistance to the OBO Project Director (PD) and other OBO management staff (M/OBO) in support of the Consulate Durban Rehabilitation Project.     Requirements:
    EXPERIENCE: 

    • Minimum three (3) years of office administration and management work experience, including at least one year in construction or engineering industry environment either on a jobsite or in an office setting, is required. In addition, a minimum of six months’ supervisory experience may be required

    JOB KNOWLEDGE:

    • Thorough knowledge of office management functions, service, procedures and standard information sources is required. Knowledge of customs and shipping procedures for inbound and outbound shipments as well as means of expediting shipments that arrive in country; working knowledge of permitting activities, etc. is required. Basic accounting principles is required.

    • College (2 years) or Post-Secondary School

    SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    • Good working knowledge of computer systems and programs used to support administrative and cost control functions like Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.) is required. Must have excellent interpersonal and organizational skills. Must be skilled in managing an office budget.
