    Assistant: Quality Controller - Midrand

    Job Description

    A career opportunity has arisen in the Warehouse Department – Premier CDC Lords View – Midrand.  This position is responsible to assist the company in achieving its production targets by ensuring that product meets the company and customer quality and food safety specifications. This is done by sampling, measurement, analysis and verifying that product meets the predetermined standard online.

    Qualification Requirements    

    • Grade 12 and Basic literacy and numeracy
    • Food Safety intermediate course (Skills Programme NQF level 4)

    Experience Requirements    

    • 2-3 years’ experience working in confectionery (FMCG)
    • Previous experience in quality control role and preferably in a warehouse.

    Key Outputs    

    • Raw materials receiving Inspection and Testing: Inspect incoming raw materials for conformity to specifications. Arrange/coordinate testing of raw materials to check compliance to specifications/standards. Record and report non-conformances to management, production. Communicate effectively and assist with resolving and escalating non-conformances to relevant stakeholders.
    • Documentation : Maintain detailed records of inspections, tests and quality control measures.Generate and update quality reports for management.Keep stock reports updated and assist with management of FIFO/FEFO
    • Compliance : Ensure adherence to regulatory standards and quality compliance. Implement and maintain quality control procedures.
    • Product safety and quality : To achieve customer satisfaction and company values by timeously and accurately verifying  quality analyses and production processes to ensure compliance to specifications and production standards.
    • To monitor and investigate non compliance to requirements to solve problems and focus on continuous improvement of the system.
    • To develop and maintain quality standards on site to increase employee awareness and their contribution to meet quality objective.
    • To provide ongoing training on quality procedures to staff to ensure compliance and competence to the system.
    • To maintain records of test results and product dispositions to enable traceability and audit of quality management system.
    • To provide technical assistance to quality assurance and production to ensure compliance to specifications and production standards.
    • To conduct all internal audit with the relevant departments and to facilitate external audit to verify the effectiveness of the quality management system.
    • To timeously and accurately compile and distribute monthly quality trends and reports to communicate quality improvements and focus areas.

    • Building condusive cross functional teamwork : Build relationships between internal stakeholders and customers.Foster and strengthen relationships with key clients, distributors, and retail partners to drive customer loyalty and growth.
    • Forecasting and Budgeting: Develop accurate sales forecasts, considering market trends, customer requirements, and product performance. Manage budgets effectively, optimising resource allocation and ensuring financial objectives are met.
    • Sales and Revenue Optimisation: Analyse market trends, consumer insights, and competitor activities to identify growth opportunities. Develop and implement pricing strategies, promotions, and trade marketing programs to maximise sales and profitability.

    Artisan: Boilermaker - Tunney

    Job Description    

    A boilermaker’s main objective is to ensure the efficient operation and maintenance of the plant’s mechanical assets. This involves a wide range of responsibilities, from carrying out routine maintenance and repairs to overseeing the plant’s engineering functions. Working closely with the site maintenance teams, a boilermaker uses their technical expertise to keep the plant’s boilers and other mechanical equipment in optimal condition. Their role is crucial in maintaining the plant’s productivity and safety standards. By diligently performing their duties, a boilermaker contributes significantly to the smooth operation of the plant.

    Qualification Requirements    

    • Matric / Grade 12
    • Appropriate engineering qualification through a recognized apprenticeship as a Boilermaker (trade test)
    • Registered Artisan (Dept. of Labour) (Red Seal)

    Experience Requirements    

    • Minimum 5 years’ experience
    • Must be able to read and update mechanical drawings
    • Knowledge of safety checks on mechanical equipment in accordance with OHSA

    • Monitor and inspect plant for potential and existing defects.
    • Report any defects noticed while performing normal functions.
    • Check report books daily and liaise with Maintenance Manager on action to be taken on reported defects.
    • Carrying out of scheduled preventative maintenance on mechanical equipment.
    • Daily inspections, fault finding and repairs on mechanical equipment.
    • Installation and project work as required.
    • Perform breakdown functions on mechanical equipment at the bakery.
    • Completion of all mandatory checklists.
    • Repairs to be done to a high standard to enable minimum downtime.
    • Fabricate equipment according to plant specifications/drawings.
    • General housekeeping.
    • Health and Safety.
