Our consultants will collaborate with partner and client teams to deliver proof-of-concept projects, conduct topical workshops, and lead implementation projects. These professional services engagements will focus on key customer solutions such as web applications, enterprise applications, HPC, batch processing and big data, networking, archiving and disaster recovery.

    Responsibilities Include

    As Senior Consultant you will manage projects independently and also deliver as part of larger teams.
    You will work with customers and partners internalizing their context while using your business and technical skills to design solutions based on requirements and constraints. You will own and complete key tasks and deliverables, and collaborate with others to define and implement optimal, complete solutions based on stakeholders needs.

    You will work towards customer business outcomes, ensuring there is a strong connection between delivery activities and business objectives.

    This is a customer facing role. You will be required to travel to client locations and deliver professional services when needed.


    Basic Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience, in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or a related field
    • 6+ years of IT implementation experience
    • 3+ years of experience as a technical specialist in Customer-facing roles
    • Experience driving discussions with senior personnel regarding trade-offs, best practices, project management and risk mitigation
    • Hands-on experience leading the design, development and deployment of business software at scale or current hands on technology infrastructure, network, compute, storage, and virtualization experience
    • Experience with software development life cycle (SDLC) and agile/iterative methodologies required
    • Integration of cloud services with on premise technologies from Microsoft, IBM, Oracle, HP, SAP etc.
    • Experience with IT compliance and risk management requirements (eg. security, privacy, SOX, HIPAA etc.)
    • Scripting and/or coding skills

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience in an Architect role or similar
    • Masters or PhD in Computer Science, Physics, Engineering or Math.
    • Knowledge of the primary AWS services (EC2, ELB, RDS, Route53 & S3)
    • Strong track record of implementing AWS services in a variety of distributed computing environments
    • Leading highly-available and fault-tolerant enterprise and web-scale software deployments
    • Large scale migration experience Data Center to Data Center and/or Data Center to Cloud
    • Infrastructure automation through DevOps scripting (E.g. shell, Python, Ruby, Powershell)
    • Configuration management using CloudFormation, Chef & Puppet
    • Strong practical Linux and Windows-based systems administration skills in a Cloud or Virtualized environment
    • Experience managing data center operations, including data assurance, monitoring, alerting and notifications
    • Demonstrated ability to think strategically about business, product, and technical challenges

    Business Development (Pursuit) Manager - Public Sector

    Description

Would you like to be part of a team focused on increasing awareness and adoption of Amazon Web Services by engaging with worldwide public sector organizations who are reinventing their IT strategy by adopting cloud computing? Do you have the business savvy, public sector industry experience and the technical background necessary to help further establish Amazon as a leading cloud platform provider?

    As the Business Development Pursuit Manager for Amazon Web Services (AWS) focusing on the Public Sector technology markets in South Africa, you will have the exciting opportunity to help shape and deliver on a strategy to build mind-share and broad use of Amazon’s utility computing web services (Amazon EC2, Amazon S3, Amazon RDS and other AWS services).

    Your broad responsibilities will include working with the internal AWS Public Sector team to develop and oversee bid strategies, shape and influence solicitations, support new business development, pricing, teaming, proposal strategies and help with written RFx proposals (e.g. Tenders, RFPs, Framework Contracts) for South Africa public sector. The Pursuit Manager will work with the AWS account and partner sales teams, along with our engineering teams, to close strategic business at a rapid rate across the public sector.

    The ideal candidate will possess appropriate experience, have prior pursuit or business development management experience identifying, shaping and responding to RFx opportunities and developing innovative technical solutions. The candidate will possess industry background that enables them develop win themes and technical discriminators and ability to communicate effectively with technical leaders, software developers, architects and business leaders. He/she needs demonstrated ability to think strategically about the mission, product, and technical challenges, with the ability to build and convey compelling value propositions.

    The candidate must know government & Public Sector acquisition guidelines and have experience with government RFx compliance requirements. Serve as a key member of the AWS South African Public Sector team supporting business strategy and new business development, identifying and responding to RFx opportunities. Identify, manage and execute the RFx proposal response plans while working with key internal stakeholders (e.g. sales teams, service teams, legal, support, etc.). Develop win themes, technical discriminators, and innovative strategies working with AWS stakeholders specific to RFx opportunities. Understand and navigate government contracting vehicles and procedures. Be a thought leader with respect to program pursuit, proposal responses, win themes, technical discriminators, solutions providers and pricing.


    Basic Qualifications

    • Significant business development and/or sales experience
    • Extensive IT and or Commercial/ Public Sector proposal capture management experience identify and leading competitive procurement
    • Substantial exposure to complex deal management and pre-sales experience
    • Excellent communicator who can quickly earn the respect of the team and customers
    • University Degree or equivalent experience

    Preferred Qualifications

    • MBA or equivalent degree
    • Excellent communication and writing skills, and be both technical and analytical
    • Self-motivated with a great sense of urgency and follow-through
    • Must have a good understanding of government procurement and government contract vehicles
    • Must have the ability to work effectively across internal and external organizations
    • Acts in accordance with vision, mission, and established goals

    Senior Solutions Architect

    Roles and Responsibilities

    • Support the AWS Business development team to help formulate a strategy to help the adoption of AWS within South Africa.
    • Guide customers to ensure success in building and migrating applications, software and services following the principles of the AWS Well-Architected Framework.
    • Help educate enterprise customers on the value proposition of AWS, and participate in deep architectural discussions to ensure solutions are designed for successful deployment in the cloud.
    • Help provide one-to-few and one-to-many training sessions to transfer knowledge to customers considering or already using AWS.
    • Capture and share best-practice knowledge among the AWS solutions architecture community.
    • Author or otherwise contribute to AWS customer-facing publications such as whitepapers.
    • Build deep relationships with senior technical individuals within customers to enable them to be cloud advocates.
    • Act as a technical liaison between customers, service engineering teams and support.
       

    Basic Qualifications

    • Background in any of the following: Cloud Architecture, Systems Design, Software Development, Infrastructure Architecture, Data Engineering or DevOps
    • Technical Degree (Computer Science, Maths, Engineering or equivalent) and/or relevant tech experience.
    • Fluent written and verbal communication skills in English
    • Passion for technology and for learning
       

    Preferred Qualifications

    The following qualifications are desired but not required:

    • Experience designing, building, refactoring or operating IT systems - either on premises or in the cloud
    • Working knowledge of cloud native architectures
    • Knowledge of a modern programming language (Python, JavaScript, Go, .Net, Java, etc.) and/or scripting, Infrastructure as Code etc.
    • Experience working in a customer-facing role
    • Experience with public speaking
    • AWS certification (e.g. AWS Solutions Architect Associate or Professional) or other industry certification
    • Continued or advanced learning (Master, MBA, PhD or equivalent)
