    Industrial Engineer- VKB Milling, Mokopane

    Job Description

    An Industrial Engineer is a professional who is responsible for designing production layouts and processes that increase productivity, eliminate wastefulness and reduce costs while maintaining quality standards within an organization.

    Requirements

    • Grade 12 or NQF Level 4 equivalent.
    • Degree in Industrial engineering
    • At least 1 year proven experience in a production environment.
    • Knowledge and Experience in Maize Production will be an advantage.
    • Advanced Microsoft office (incl. Advanced Excel).
    • Valid driver’s license / own reliable transport.
    • Knowledge of 20 Keys will be an advantage 

    Duties and responsibilities

    • Design efficient production processes to eliminate waste and make the most of every resource involved in manufacturing.
    • Compile and manage allocated project within the data and project department.
    • Compile and distribute key stats to the management team.
    • Ensure each project is completed within the allocated budget and timeline.
    • Identifying possible projects in the processing environment.
    • Identifying production needs on a continues basis to ensure effectivity of production.
    • The effective management of projects within the approved project timeframe and budget at VKB Milling Mokopane.
    • Determine the feasibility of projects.
    • Operational impact study and presentation of new product range to VKB Milling management team.
    • Ergonomically study of each department.
    • Compile project plan (Grant chart) per project, during planning phase and after implementation.
    • Compile the 1–5 Year Capex Plan.
    • Head special projects in the plant.
    • Conduct conditional scoring of plant complete.
    • Coordinate all contractors assigned to capital projects.
    • Continuous liaison with internal departments, management, suppliers and committees with regards to production standards and quality aspects within the processing plant.
    • Coordinate all role players in the introduction of a new product.
    • Responsible for driving the Continuous Improvement Program (20 Keys), providing the necessary expert support and coordination in terms of:
    • Implementation of the program for all keys in conjunction with the key leaders.
    • Overall plan and goals in conjunction with the key leaders.
    • Following up on progress on action plans and goal achievement matrices and providing the necessary guidance.
    • Assisting key leaders with corrective actions on action plans where applicable.
    • To successfully complete all allocated training interventions by direct manager.
    • To mentor and coach all relevant staff to ensure standards, processes and practices.
    • To keep abreast all relevant legislation and amendments on relevant legislation, technology, products, processes and techniques by attending workshops, seminars, reading articles and receiving training as well as informing relevant personnel.
    • Any other duties as may be required by management.

    Pallet Controller- VKB Milling, Frankfort

    Job Description

    Responsible for the daily capturing and reconciliation of pallet movements to and from customers and depots and tracking pallets de-hired off the CHEP Account. Ensure that accurate Customer Record Cards are kept as hard copies and such documentation is available

    Requirements

    • Grade 12 / NQF 4
    • Minimum 1 year experience of NAV will be an advantage 
    • Must be computer literate in Windows suite (Word and Excel) 

    Duties and responsibilities

    • System of pallet / CHEP control
    • Maintain effective pallet management
    • Ensure that correct pallets are invoiced and credited
    • Daily stock count en reporting on irregularities 
    • Liaise with the internal and external parties regarding pallet movement   
    • Ensure stock to be collected are done regularly and with correct paperwork and correct locations.     
    • Makes sure pallets are being scanned, not lost or damaged. 
    • Also keeps database updated

    Services Manager - Grain Field Chickens Abattoir, Reitz

    Job Description

    Manage the Services Department by meeting internal customer’s needs through appropriate products and services, by providing hands-on expertise and support to the Abattoir, overseeing both shifts with regards to laundry, ablutions, kitchen, canteen, change rooms, grounds and security.

    Requirements

    • Grade 12 or NQF Level 4 equivalent.
    • Diploma in Production or Operations Management.
    • Advanced Microsoft Office with advanced excel.
    • 5 - 10 Years relevant job experience in a Poultry Abattoir/FMCG on management level.
    • Health, Safety and Environmental and Food Safety background.
    • Some grounds & buildings technical experience.
    • A willingness to work overtime incl. weekends when required.

    Duties and responsibility

    • Management of the total spend for own department against budget through daily review of budget vs. actual spend.
    • Provide input during the annual budgeting process.
    • Authorise stores requisitions for own department and provide initial sign off for invoices prior to submission to the relevant HOD.
    • Optimize cost savings and cost control in own department and manage daily waste of all consumables.
    • Liaise with the Operations Admin Dept. with respect to catering orders for internal customers.
    • Monthly landfill disposal volumes, schedules and tariff discussions and adjustments.
    • Laundry outside contractors (1st Garment and Montana Laundries).
    • Laundry issuing and controlling.

    Effective onsite diesel management and control:

    • Daily dip checks, recording and communication.
    • Delivery scheduling and communicating.
    • Maintenance/repairs – Outside Contractor.
    • Coordinate and implement a safety and security plan and visitor plan for GFC.
    • Implement security practices and measures to prevent losses at the abattoir.

    Onsite Abattoir Security:

    • Outside Contractors.
    • Site CCTV monitoring, maintenance and installations.
    • Site Access Control (PRP Biometrics and Turnstiles Maintenance).
    • Staff bus service and transport – scheduling, compliance, service schedule and routing.
    • Ensure checks and balances are in place with outbound trucks and weighbridge tolerances.
    • Liaise with internal departments and external service providers on an ongoing basis to ensure quality service and products.
    • Continuously work with the relevant HOD to ensure accurate reporting on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.
    • Facilitate and coordinate the staff capacity function within the relevant department daily.
    • Any other duties as may be required by line manager.
