    Director: Strategy, Implementation, Monitoring and Reporting

    • The monitoring of institutional performance in relation to the strategic imperatives of the University remains an integral part of the implementation of the University's strategy. Strategy implementation happens across executives lines and faculties and is supported by a range of grant-funded and other initiatives. 
    • The position coordinates and aligns complex change projects across executive portfolios, forges strategic partnerships with internal and external parties and facilitates effective implementation of identified strategic projects. The University seeks to appoint a dynamic individual who can support the development of strategic and project plans, coordinate and support effective implementation of a range of initiatives and manage and maintain strategic communication with internal and external role-players. 

    Reporting to the Institutional Planner, the successful applicant will be responsible for the following areas:

    • Assists in managing robust institutional planning processes that identify long term goals and objectives and facilitates the development of supporting strategies 
    • Interact with senior management to coordinate, integrate and report on planning and implementation of strategic initiatives
    • Manage the strategic alignment and integration of grant proposals, and coordinate and oversee the implementation, monitoring and reporting of identified grants 
    • Monitor and track the effectiveness of strategy and project implementation.
    • Build partnerships and manage engagements with key internal and external stakeholders 
    • Conduct research and data analysis and keep abreast of key national and local issues that would impact the University's strategic aspirations and positioning.

    Minimum Requirements
    Minimum Requirements (Qualification and Experience)

    • The successful candidate must have a Master's Degree at an NQF Level 9. 
    • A minimum of 8 years' relevant management experience, preferably in a higher education environment.
    • An in depth understanding of the South African Higher Education context.
    • Proven experience in project management and the monitoring and reporting of implementation progress.

    Required competencies (skills, knowledge and behavioural attributes): 

    • Experience in grant coordination, financial management, implementation monitoring and reporting 
    • Research and analytical skills
    • Excellent planning and execution skills
    • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills in English
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)

    Software Developer

    • To be part of a team responsible for the analysis, design, build, test, deployment and customisation of bespoke as well commercial applications. The incumbent will further be responsible for providing maintenance and support in respect of these applications.

    The key role and responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to: 

    • Participate in Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) phases especially solution design, development, testing, deployment and maintenance of applications and solutions,
    • Design, develop, maintain, and support existing and new applications and solutions based on business requirements,
    • Ensure that solutions and enhancements comply with guidelines and best practices,

    Manager: Infrastructure Projects

    • The university seeks to appoint a skilled, resourceful and dynamic individual to assist the Director: Infrastructure and Engineering to manage its large infrastructure-related projects. The successful applicant will oversee and manage projects for new Infrastructure Development at UWC, and ensure the delivery of projects on-time and within budget, from Concept to Close Out. This includes coordination & liaison with multiple project stakeholders, and the provision of oversight on key project parameters (scope, cost , schedule, quality, and compliance). The position requires knowledge in multiple technical and contractual areas, problem resolution skills, and sound decision-making.

    Reporting to the Director: Infrastructure and Engineering, the post assumes responsibility for, inter alia:

    • Delivering UWC projects in a manner that is consistent, reliable, disciplined, cost-effective and compliant with UWC policies and standards
    • Applying appropriate, reliable and standardised methodologies to the planning and delivery of projects
    • Policy design and business support
    • Standardisation of specifications and design
    • Serving as the primary point of contact for the relevant project governance structures (Steering Committees, Project Boards, Project Professional teams)
    • Liaising with & coordinating the services and performance of external service providers, as well as internal functional units
    • Collaborating with all relevant stakeholders, internal and external, during all project phases
    • Managing technical and financial approvals

    Minimum Requirements

    • Valid driver’s license, with 2 years driving experience

    Senior Lecturer

    • The Faculty of Community & Health Sciences has an international reputation for innovative teaching, learning and research, in programmes which are inter-professional, community-based, and service-learning orientated.     • The Faculty of Community and Health Sciences seeks to appoint a senior lecturer within the School of Public Health for a permanent appointment, who will teach, supervise and conduct research in one or more of the following areas of public health: health management and leadership; health systems development; quantitative research methodologies; epidemiology; primary health care and social determinants of health; Public Health along the life course; reproductive, child and women’s health; HIV/TB; scholarship of teaching and learning in Public Health. 

    Academic responsibilities will include: 

    • Teaching and supervision at postgraduate level.
