    Head, Data Science Mastery Programme

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    • As the Head of the Data Science Mastery Programme, you will oversee the development, implementation, and growth of the 12-month program which is designed to accelerate the development of future-ready skills (Data Scientists) for the Standard Bank group.  You will be responsible for building competencies for the organisation at the intersection of “Business Sciences”, “Mathematics and Statistics”, and “Computer Sciences” through the Data Science job family.     QUALIFICATIONS
    Qualifications and Experience:

    • Master's degree or PhD in Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field
    • At least 10-15 years of experience in a related field, with a strong track record of building and deploying predictive models and analytical solutions that drive business value
    • Strong knowledge and experience in data engineering, machine learning, and data storytelling.
    • Experience in leading and mentoring a team of data scientists and data analysts.
    • Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage with senior executives and external stakeholders.
    • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
    • Experience in the financial services industry or related industries is preferred.
    • Demonstrable master level proficiency in the numerous (more than 1) data science tools, programming languages and algorithms equally comfortable in traditional and cloud environments.
    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in academia teaching on relevant topics and or managing a curriculum outcome.
