    UFSS Coordinator (post level 8): Centre for Teaching and Learning - (1060)

    Duties and responsibilities:

    Client relations

    • Liaise with faculties, departments, and relevant management structures, as well as external stakeholders, regarding all matters (including escalated enquiries) pertaining to UFSS in such a manner as to maintain collegiality with stakeholders.
    • Contribute to the institutional First Year Experience Committee by leading parts of the FYE projects that support the rollout of online orientation and continued first-year support.
    • Contribute to the national Siyaphumelela First Year Experience workstream by participating in annual services that this workstream offers nationally.

    Curriculum development

    • Lead innovation and conceptualization within and of UFSS with respect to curriculum, activities, implementation and evaluation.

    ​​​​People management

    • Manage (overall management including, performance management and staff development)6 staff members (BFN and QQ campus) who are working within the UFSS team.
    • Oversee the coordination of the Teaching Assistant Programme (50 Teaching Assistants on the BFN campus and 30 Teaching Assistants on the QQ campus).

    Project coordination

    • Coordinate the conceptual design, development, evaluation and improvement of the UFSS module and all related activities, including the expansion of the programme to the QQ campus.
    • Manage activities related to curriculum development within UFSS.
    • Prepare management reports on UFSS and share results appropriately within the UFS.
    • Manage the budget and control expenditure of UFSS.
    • Manage initiatives in marketing UFSS.
    • Manage activities related to quality assurance with reference to an action research cycle.
    • Respond to monitoring and evaluation recommendations to ensure continuous improvement and impact of the UFSS programme.

    Research

    • Conduct literature searches appropriate to UFSS.
    • Manage regular evaluations of the UFSS curriculum, activities, implementation and impact.
    • Contribute to a research output for UFSS (conference presentations and publishing of articles).

    Workshops and training

    • Present workshops/training where requested on teaching and learning methodology employed in UFSS.

    Inherent Job Requirements:

    • A relevant bachelor’s degree on NQF Level 7.
    • Relevant experience in a higher education environment.
    • A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in project management.
    • A minimum of two (2) years’ management/supervisory experience. 

    Recommendations:

    • Relevant Honours degree on NQF level 8.
    • Experience in curriculum design and development.
