    Technician

    PURPOSE OF THE JOB

    • Executes tasks for setting-to-work, installation, deployment, commissioning, upgrading of new systems. Provide customer support to ensure Thales South African System (TSAS) equipment meets its service level agreements: availability, maintainability, and supportable targets.

    KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS AND JOB DETAILS

    Technical support:

    • Execute tasks related to the installation, deployment and commissioning of new/retrofitting of TSAS systems.
    • Perform maintenance work in an expeditious manner.
    • Establish and maintain periodic reviews of the preventative maintenance system.
    • Maintain equipment according to required technical standards.
    • Scheduling and completing periodic maintenance according to industry standards.

    Maintenance record keeping

    • Keep detailed maintenance records for all equipment.
    • Record the date and details of the completed maintenance noting any deficiency discovered.
    • Documenting the results of the inspection.
    • Document any actions performed and maintaining a data life of certification documents.

    Other Requirements

    • Comply with section 14 of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and regulations (85 of 1993).
    • Adhere to HSE & Security governance policies and
    • Adhere to all other TSAS applicable policies and procedures

    Technical assistance

    • As directed by the Project Manager/Systems Engineer

    COMPETENCIES AND EXPERIENCE

    Qualification

    • National Diploma (NQF Level 6 minimum) or BTech in Electrical Engineering
    • Relevant Domain Training e.g. Linux and Product knowledge

    Experience

    • Experience in fault diagnosis, systems maintenance and support is preferred.
    • Proven capability of providing in-depth equipment level diagnostic services as well as solving complex defects down to Depth C (i.e., fault finding to module or PCB level) and Depth D (i.e., fault finding and repairing the module or PCB). This will be an added advantage.

    Knowledge
