PURPOSE:

• To ensure development, optimization and continuous improvement of technology by assisting relevant stakeholders in execution of operational directives during projects and business operations.

Minimum Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

•  N Dip: Engineering (Essential/Minimum)
• Trade: Millwright MQA/QCTO (Recommended/Desirable)
• B Tech (Relevant) (Recommended/Desirable)
• Certificate First Line Management (Recommended/Desirable)

EXPERIENCE: 

5 years Relevant experience within Engineering operations. Experience on fleet management systems hardware and software installation and maintenance of operating systems and databases (Linux/Windows/MS SQL)        Essential/Minimum    Operational

REQUIREMENTS: 

• Psychometric Assessment (Essential/Minimum) (To be conducted by Exxaro)
• Certificate of Fitness (Essential/Minimum) (To be conducted by Exxaro)
• Competence: MS Office Relevant Package (Essential/Minimum)

Duties & Responsibilities

Budget and Cost Control  

• Monitoring, forecasting and reporting contracts; project cash flows and cost trends
• Monitoring of actual and earned contracts and projects costs
• Compilation and reporting of estimates to completion and close-out project costs
• compilation and updating of planned, forecast and actual expenditure graphs
• preparation of monthly reports for manager’s approval
• Periodical cost reporting to Project Controls Managers, Cost Engineers

Compliance    

• Develop, maintain and improve safe operational- and engineering standards and continuously review specifications and schedules
• Ensure equipment integrity is maintained according to safety standards. Manage and control quality of raw materials, products and processes
•  Conduct investigation of incidents and ensure adequate remedial action is implemented
•  Ensure effective risk management by identifying hazardous activities and mitigation measures on a continuous basis

Continuous Improvement    

• Review comparable technical specifications, design processes and procedures to ensure compliance with criteria and instructions, economy and suitability to functional requirements
•  Initiate Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives whilst keeping touch with new developments and technologies to improve process capabilities, product quality and throughput requirements
• Liaise with other specialists, contractors and personnel to ensure effective resolution
• Optimize dispatch mobile communication network and hardware units

Customer, Stakeholder and Client Relationship Management

•   Support core business by ensuring appropriate stakeholder relationships toward enhancing corporate profile
•  Manage internal and external relations, including interface with external providers or other functions responsible to ensure that business needs are met
• Monitoring, control and reporting of contractors' monthly certificates claims and variations orders

Financial Support Services    

• Compilation of estimation calculation and compilation of cost and financial plan data throughout project from feasibility study to implementation
• Compilation of management reports regarding expenditure of Project in relation to business plans, budgets, cost control, forecasting, contract modifications etc.
• Report on financial performance and ensure budget reflects targets from business plans
•  Do forecasting of operational costs and monitor expenditure and cash flow on a regular basis for approval

Safe and Healthy Work Environment  

•   Maintain and ensure a healthy environment, safe operations and practices, ensuring compliance with all applicable Safety Health and Environmental (SHE) policies and procedures in line with set standards
• Encourage a culture that focuses on safety in all operations

Supplier and Contract Management

•   Monitoring, control and reporting of contractors' monthly certificates claims and variations orders

Support Services  

• Develop dispatching strategies as per requirement to meet the production goals of the operation
•  Ensure that the Dispatch hardware is in good operational condition at all times
• Ensure Global Positioning System (GPS) and Radio/Master link Communication integrity
• Software development / changes and reloading of field units as well as report developments
• Assist the Dispatch Administrator on a daily basis to ensure dispatch integrity
• Act as Dispatch Administrator and fulfil Dispatch Administrator duties during periods of absence.

Technical Services    

• Plan and conduct relative conventional smaller to medium-sized projects with limited scope
•  Perform assignments requiring application of demonstrated ability to interpret, select, adapt and apply guidelines, precedents and engineering principles and practices relating to the area of specialization
• Install dispatch hardware on primary and secondary equipment, while conducting daily dispatch hardware checks. Maintain and repair dispatch field units
• Maintain, repair, and install mobile network units
