Job Description    

• Ensures that resources (labour, equipment, storage areas, etc.) are effectively utilised to ensure efficient receipt and storage of materials.
• Maintains full control over the bulk tank facilities associated with the ECV, ECA, MPP, ISC, Tablet and PNA Plants.
• Ensure that all production procedures starting from the receipt of raw materials to the incumbent’s plants as well as to the delivery of finished product to Despatch are strictly adhered to.
• Monitor production output and raw material usages. And report outputs on a daily basis.
• Ensures that no cross contamination of raw materials occurs in storage.
• Responsible for preparing stocks in a manner which facilitates easy stocktaking.
• Ensures that a high level of housekeeping is maintained in the plants under his control and areas directly outside and around his plants.
• Responsible for controlling the offloading and issue of bulk stocks pertaining to the ECV, ECA, MPP, ISC, Tablet and PNA Plants.
• Responsible for ensuring that the weekly production programme and targets are achieved.
• Ensure that Works Instructions and Standard Operating Procedures are strictly adhered to. Any modifications must be reported to the Production Manager.
• Responsible for conducting PJO’s (Planned Job Observations) on all WI’s and PSOP’s on the areas under the incumbent’s control for the people reporting to the incumbent.
• Initiate orders for consumable items via the Production Manager and minimises wastage.
• Monitor activities in the incumbent’s plant with the aim of improving overall productivity.
• To appreciate the importance of customer satisfaction and responding to this accordingly.
• To maintain a “hands on” approach with regard to operations taking place in the ECV, ECA, MPP, ISC, Tablet and PNA Plants.
• Supervise maintenance contractors ensuring that maintenance jobs are effectively completed.
• Ensure total compliance and adherence to all SHEQ rules and regulations as per company policy.
• To work with and/or assist R&D personnel on the production of trial batches of new products on plants under the incumbent’s control.

Qualifications & Experience    

• Minimum qualification – Diploma in Chemical Engineering
• Minimum of 5 years in Production and items allied thereto.
• Minimum 3 years supervisory experience is required.
• Process Safety management experience.
• Project management experience.
• Possess excellent communication (verbal and written), planning and organising, I.R. and inter-personal skills.
• Must possess analytical skills (basic budgeting and cost control).
• Should have a basic knowledge of NEMA, OHS Act and other relevant Acts and regulations
• Must be medically fit to drive a forklift and/or car
• Required to maintain medical fitness to drive a forklift in order to successfully have the forklift driver’s license renewed.
• Must be able to successfully lead subordinates.
• Must be able to work independently as well as within a team and be deadline driven.
• Computer literate MS Office (Word/Excel and Outlook).
• Knowledge of Syspro advantageous but is not a prerequisite.
