Software Engineer: Back-End (Capitec Pay) at Capitec Bank

Purpose Statement

• Join our dynamic cross-functional team as a Level I Software Engineer, playing an essential role in the full software development lifecycle—from concept and development to deployment and operation. In this role, you'll support and collaborate with fellow Software Engineers and the delivery team, actively engaging in problem-solving and contributing to the success of our projects.
• As a Back-end Software Engineer, you'll be key in building solutions that ensure optimal performance, reliability, and scalability. You'll be responsible for writing and testing code for the server-side components that power our application's functionality.

Education (Minimum)

• Grade 12 National Certificate / Vocational

Education (Ideal or Preferred)

• A relevant tertiary qualification in Information Technology

Knowledge and Experience

Experience:

• 2 years’ proven experience in back-end software development, project delivery and implementation (in relevant development technologies/language). Experience with back-end frameworks and technologies

Knowledge: 

• IT systems development (SDLC), application development, programming foundations, basic algorithms, and data structures.
• Version control, unit testing, and test-driven development.
• SQL and NoSQL database systems and query optimization.
• Basic RESTful API design, integration, and cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure).
• Microservice and event-driven architectures, deployment using Kubernetes and containerization.
