    Senior Specialist: ESG Data Analysis

    Mission/ Core purpose of the Job
    Sustainability is at the core of MTN’s business strategy. MTN is looking for an analyst with remarkable attention to detail and systems thinker to support MTN’s transparency and disclosure efforts at MTN Group. This critical role plays an instrumental role in tracking and analysing MTN’s ESG data to active embed and drive ESG performance within the company.

    Key Performance Areas: Core, essential responsibilities / outputs of the position (KPA's)

    • The Senior Specialist: ESG Data Analyst will be accountable to achieve the following objectives:
    • Maintain and enhance ESG and impact-related databases, in collaboration with data and operations colleagues across MTN’s markets.
    • Support and develop tools for the effective integration of ESG data analysis into MTN’s business.
    • Support with ESG data management and analysis to monitor ESG performance indicators, ensuring data can be easily audited.
    • Support with ESG data required across various ESG indexes and ratings agencies, including Sustainalytics, MSCI, FTSE, Bloomberg, S&P Global and others.
    • Develop editorial guidelines for how MTN defines and describes ESG data.
    • Establish and coordinate data governance procedures, reviewing all new and existing ESG datasets with help from subject matter specialists.
    • Develop standards for adding new data fields, including terminology, definitions, structure, and alignment to third-party frameworks.
    • Build charts, infographics, and economic models to illustrate trends and visually represent MTN’s ESG data’s story.
    • Conduct efficient data quality assurance (QA) process including assessing results, compiling, and reporting QA findings.
    • Contribute to process development and improvements for various ESG teams to ensure consistent data quality and efficiency.
    • Clearly communicate key trends, insights, and complex technical approaches (incl. detailed analysis & graphical representation of data).
    • Demonstrate, through research and thought leadership, how ESG data can be integrated into the investment decision making process.
    • Develop stakeholder-facing data for inclusion within ESG reporting and impact-related data, in collaboration with the broader reporting team, on both a regular and ad hoc basis.
    • Research trends in ESG, conduct research and benchmarking against peer companies and provide analysis to inform recommendations for MTN’s ESG approaches.

    Job Requirements (Education, Experience and Competencies)

    Education:

    • Degree in Data Analysis, or equivalent field. Postgraduate degree would be advantageous
    • Relevant certification / accreditation / membership with professional body as required for role

    Experience:

    • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar role.
    • Relevant sector, industry, or area of specialisation experience (understanding emerging markets advantageous).
    • Worked across diverse cultures and geographies.
    • Experience working in a medium to large organization would be advantageous.
    • Experience with ESG reporting standards and frameworks, e.g., SASB, GRI, TCFD, and experience producing ESG reporting and disclosures content for a global audience and different stakeholders.
