    Senior Specialist - Business Continuity Management

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    The Manager will be accountable across the following:
    Compliance management

    • Monitor adherence to the MTN Group Risk and Compliance business continuity and crisis management framework, best practices, and processes, and escalate issues that will result in considerable time, scope, employee/client, or cost impact if not resolved
    • Responsible for annual Business Continuity project implementation in collaboration with functional streams
    • Implement the annual business continuity project in collaboration with functional streams
    • Responsible for framing the Business Continuity Management (BCM) strategy, creating business continuity plans (operational and incident management plan)
    • Provide input into the framing of the Business Continuity Management (BCM) strategy
    • Develop business continuity plans (operational and incident management plan)
    • Manage MTN BOOST’s Resilience index and pillars monthly to ensure Resilience Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) set by MTN Group Risk and Compliance are achieved 
    • Support implementation of the MTN Group Risk and Compliance Business Resilience Framework
    • Provide inputs on business continuity and crisis management standards, processes, and practices, making recommendations derived from analytics on internal data and best practices
    • Enhance continuity and recoverability of critical business processes/services
    • Perform business impact assessments and analysis, risk assessments and facilitate the identification of the recovery procedures to be followed in the event of a crisis 
    • Provide business continuity planning analytics, including up to date business impact analysis associated with business continuity, crisis incidents, IT disaster recovery, and incident management planning to the business, seeking guidance from management on more complex issues
    • Use analytical and modelling techniques to produce reports and forecasts for management on the effectiveness of the business continuity and crisis management plans
    • Perform scenario development and testing on business continuity planning, identifying weaknesses and potential risks, and making recommendations for improvement, within the overall enterprise risk strategy framework
    • Enhance availability, reliability & recoverability of critical technical infrastructure, systems, and 

    Oversight on adoption:

    • Lead BCM awareness and training initiatives
    • Provide OpCo’s with business resilience clarification/guidance on an ad hoc basis

    Governance forums, integration, and oversight reporting:

    • Align to MTN business resilience governance and monitor compliance on the same
    • Perform trends analysis on the quality and effectiveness of the business continuity and crisis management planning and report on these trends to management
    • Report monthly on resilience and monitor resilience maturity
    • Facilitate the business continuity co-ordinator for reporting in quarterly resilience meetings
    • Report priority incidents for information security and technology incidents to the resilience team and Group Risk and Compliance Business Continuity Management
    • Deliver high level business continuity and crisis management reports to management with specialised recommendations
    • Support management in ensuring appropriate business continuity and crisis management plans are developed and aligned to current context
    • Provide data and inputs to various reports to be presented at MTN group governance forums, MTN BOOST executive steercos, OpCos and partner governance forums

    Incident and request management, and coordination and oversight on third level resolution:

    • Act as second-level of support for incident/crisis response, communications and contingency planning
    • Engage with all stakeholders to identify root causes of incidents and requests quickly and accurately to minimise delays
    • Contracting, recharge model, budget cycle, business, and financial cycle:
    • Support Senior Manager, Controls and Compliance in providing functional inputs to Financial Operations team 
    • Support budget planning activities
    • Adhere to business cycles and support financial cycles including month end closure activities

    Internal/External Audit

    • Support internal and external audits and review of risks and controls
    • Implement corrective actions based on audit findings and policy changes to ensure compliance with policies and regulations

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Education:

    • Minimum 3-year tertiary degree in Commerce or Science 
    • Certified by the Business Continuity Institute (BCI) - advantageous
    • ISO 22301 Lead implementer certification - advantageous

    Experience:

    • Minimum 5 years’ experience in business continuity management
    • Experience in supervising others (preferred)
    • Experience working in multi-national organisations with extensive geographic footprint
    • Working knowledge of ERP (Oracle preferred)
    • Working knowledge of MS Office (Word and PowerPoint)
    • Fluent in English with the ability to communicate and describe complex technical solutions in easy-to-understand concepts

    Competencies:

    Functional Knowledge: 

    • Exhibits in-depth knowledge of best practices used for Business Continuity standards / principles and processes (ISO22301, Good Practice Guidelines)
    • Ability to develop BCM training material and provide necessary training and support
    • In-depth knowledge of cross functional processes 
    • Ability to communicate to Opco’s and MTN Group stakeholders
    • Ability to identifying continuous improvement opportunities
    • Understands MTN policies and procedures
    • Knowledge of ERP applications and maintenance best practices
    • Knowledge of end-to-end enterprise infrastructure and platforms
