Senior Manager: Functional Digital Projects at MTN

Mission/ Core purpose of the Job

To manage, co-ordinate and implement the Group Digital Services projects bouquet; according to the business plans, prioritisation and set competing constraints within a multi-vendor environment, across the MTN Group FINCOs footprint.
The Senior Manager will also contribute towards Group FinTech & Digital PMO’s way of work by suggesting and devising better ways of execution through continuous improvement, collaboration with respective Digital Product Managers, to achieve expected project objectives.
In concert with the wider MTN Group teams; FINCOs management and their teams, the Senior manager will find expedient ways to drive business growth by delivering the digital projects timeously; thus, contributing to MTN’s overall strategic goals, achieving profitable growth and continuously improving efficiency.
The Senior Manager: Functional Digital Projects reports to the General Manager: FinTech & Digital Services PMO

Job Requirements (Education, Experience and Competencies

Education

• Minimum of 4 year tertiary degree
• PMP® Certification required
• MBA or a master’s in project management an advantage

Experience

• 8-10 years – applicable general telecommunications business experience;
• 4-6 years program/project management experience
• 2-3 years’ experience in a Digital program/project office.

Functional Knowledge

• Proven track record of technical and specialised know-how in the Digital Agile Projects management space
• Experience in digital services specifically in the areas of music, video, gaming, messaging etc.
• Abreast of global and regional outlook & best practices relating to Digital portfolio; program and project management
• Attitude of Innovation & thought leadership to the organisation and other stakeholders
• Emerging markets/ multi-cultural experience
• Ability to learn fast and master the trends in a continuously changing digital industry
• Willing and flexible to travel extensively throughout the MTN footprint to provide on ground support during implementations. Be required to travel to all allocated operations and required to spend extended time in those jurisdictions
• Understanding of the digital ecosystem, players, technologies, business models and industry related best practices
• Be able to work under pressure in a modular, demanding and complex FinTech & Digital PMO management environment; with minimal supervision
• Able to manage multiple assignments and agile enough to adapt to new challenges
