    Senior Manager: Crisis & Reputation Management

    Job Purpose

    The role requires a strategic mindset to manage and coordinate Reputation Management Communications activities, problem-solving techniques to address issues in an effective manner, with exceptional written and verbal communication skills. The incumbent needs to have good knowledge of products, processes, and Nedbank brand.   This role will collaborate and provide input into crisis preparedness, and contribute on addressing a broad range of issues, including litigation, introduction of regulation, and service disruptions. The successful candidate will also work proactively to enhance the company's reputation by managing corporate news surrounding mergers, acquisitions, and strategic partnerships by building the corporate narrative.

    Job Responsibilities

    Establish guardrails  

    • Contribute to reputation management and communications processes and guardrails
    • Provide input into best practices for reputation management and communication initiatives 
    • Responsible for identifying and tracking potential threats to the organisation, driving development protocols and processes to mitigate threats, and partnering with Nedbank stakeholders on response efforts.

     Develop reputation management and communications strategy and plans

    • Develop strategies to enhance Nedbank's reputation management and communications for internal and external alignment
    • Develop strategies, playbooks, as well as reputation management and communications activities
    • Implement reputation management and communications strategies 

     Provide advisory role to missions 

    • Provide an advisory role on reputation management and communications for missions and BAU requests
    • Provide senior level counsel to management during times of crisis
    • Regularly conduct vulnerability assessments and develop contingency plans to address the most pressing potential scenarios.

     Analyse reporting for continuous improvement

    • Analyse, monitor and track uptake and insights from reputation management and communications efforts and activities to inform future decision making

    Media and stakeholder relationships

    • Build and manage relationships with industry bodies, media, and other stakeholders to protect, defend and enhance Nedbank's reputation

    People Specification

    Essential Qualifications - NQF Level

    • Matric / Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate
    • Advanced Diplomas/National 1st Degrees

    Preferred Qualification

    •  Field of Study: Communications; Journalism; Public Relations, Marketing

    Minimum Experience Level

    • Total number of years of experience: 7 - 10 years
    • Management experience as part of the above years: 1- 2 years
    • Type of experience: Communications (generalist); reputation management; crises management
