Senior Knowledge Lawyer (Banking & Finance)

An exciting opportunity has arisen to employ a full time Senior Knowledge Lawyer in the firm's Banking & Finance practice. Although primarily a B&F resource, the incumbent will also provide some limited support to the Projects team. In executing the role, the individual will work closely with the Knowledge & Innovation, Learning & Development, BDMC and Legal Solutions & Technology teams.

The successful candidate will have at least 5 to 8 years of post-admission legal experience in banking & finance, including the drafting and negotiation of loan and security documentation. Prior experience in a Knowledge Lawyer / Professional Support Lawyer role in a law firm is preferred but not essential.

The role will suit a fee-earner who is seeking an alternative legal career path with the firm. We are looking for a candidate who is an energetic self-starter who is passionate about the law and its commercial application, communicates well, is highly organised, detail-oriented and has the requisite knowledge and experience.

    Purpose summary

This role will provide day-to-day know how and training support for the Banking & Finance team. It will involve know how development and precedent drafting; tracking relevant legal developments; internal training co-ordination; and the development of client know how and training ideas and content. The incumbent will be required to liaise and work with counterparts at Linklaters on training and other projects. This role will also provide support for practice innovation and delivery improvement initiatives undertaken by the team. The ad hoc support for the Projects team would involve assisting with directory submissions and marketing newsflashes.

    Method of Application

Johannesburg-based candidates will be preferred, however interested candidates who are based Cape Town can still apply.
