    Senior Administrative Officer - Faculty of Law

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Handling applications of prospective Faculty applicants;
    • Administering all student records and processing from admission to graduation;
    • Advising students regarding registration of modules for non-degree purposes, extra modules, time table clashes and registration of modules at other institutions;
    • Advising students with regard to rules and regulations regarding change of study directions within the Faculty as well as from other Faculties and from other institutions
    • Assisting with the drafting and compilation of the agenda and minutes of Faculty committees as allocated;
    • Assisting students with bursary applications;
    • Assisting in examination and other related matters;
    • Assisting with all tasks at graduation ceremonies according to the work schedule as distributed by Academic administration;
    • Advising to general students enquiries to all relevant stakeholder.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    • A National three-year diploma in Administration with four years’ administrative experience which includes at least six months’ experience in student administration at a higher learning institution;
    • Grade 12 with five years’ administrative experience which includes at least six months’ experience in student administration at a higher learning institution.

    REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):

    • Experience of a student administration system;
    • Communication procedures and reporting lines;
    • Knowledge of student admission requirements;
    • The ability to understand cultural diversity and apply good judgement regarding communication across cultural borders in the division with colleagues and student information;
    • The ability to support students with empathy in personal problems and refer;
    • The ability to maintain and encourage good interpersonal attitudes in the work environment;
    • Excellent computer and communication skills;
    • Must be able to work effectively as part of the team;
    • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

    ADDED ADVANTAGES AND PREFERENCES:

    • A relevant Bachelor’s degree with three years’ administrative experience which includes at least six months’ experience in student administration at a higher learning institution;
    • Experience in maintaining website information.
