    Risk Officer

    Job Summary 

    Market & Liquidity Risk:

    • Compilation of various risk management reports and generation of MIS reports
    • Preparation, implementation and review of market and liquidity risk management policies for the branch
    • Monitoring of adherence to risk limits in the policy and reporting and review of exceptions
    • Review reporting procedures and controls in respect of market and liquidity risk.
    • Monitor changes in RBI and local regulations and report its impact to Risk Management committee (RCOM)
    • Monitoring and monthly reporting of limit exceptions and violation to RCOM.
    • Review and monitoring of treasury activities. Review approved instruments and recommend changes where required.
    • Co-ordinate risk management with decision makers outside treasury department.
    • Preparation and submission of BA325, BA300 and BA 301 returns.

    Credit Risk:

    • Preparation, implementation and review of credit risk/loan policy of the branch
    • Building up of database on loan portfolio comparison individual loan details such as business segment, industry code details of facility Credit Risk Assessment (Internal rating) etc. and update the database on an ongoing basis.
    • Putting in place systems for identifying measuring monitoring and controlling credit risk in branches loan assets portfolio.
    • Analyze the loan portfolio on various defined parameters for identifying risk factors and deterring remedial action.
    • Monitoring large exposures with reference to RBI, Branch loan policy and the SARB’s guidelines issued from time to time
    • Preparing for migration to Internal Risk Based approach for credit risk by ensuring computation of Probability of Default (PD), Loss given Default (LGD) and Exposure at Default (EAD) and their validation
    • Ensure business effectiveness by providing input into systems, processes and policies.
    • Develop, maintain and implement appropriate action plans for Business Credit Regulatory & Risk Program

    Operational Risk:

    • Preparing, implementation and review of Operational Risk Management policy of the branch.
    • Sound working knowledge within Fraud Risk Management and Fraud Strategy
    • Putting in place systems for identifying, measuring monitoring and controlling of
    • Operational risk in respect of branches various operations like SOP’s, trainings etc.
    • Compilation of risk appetite statement of the branch annually.
    • Maintenance of risk register and collect and analyze loss/ near miss events data
    • Periodical review and analyze of Risk and Control Self-assessment (RCSA) format
    • Analyze of RCSA data and loss event data and putting up periodical reports to branch management
    • Review of Business continuity plan (BCP)
    • Implementation of advanced measurement approach (AMA) and Reserve Bank of India (RBI) guidelines for operational risk management

    Other Roles:

    • Assisting the Chief Risk Officer under the risk function.
    • Conducting monthly Risk Committee meeting.
    • Prepare and submit returns and reports of mid-office to IBG.
    • Analyzing transactions generated in the AML software and filing of Suspicious Transaction Reports
    • Reporting to and liaison with SARB.
    • Ensuring effective implementation of Risk Data Aggregation of Risk Reports (RDARR as per BCBS239).
    • Preparing Internal Capital adequacy and assessment Plan of the bank and its periodic review.
    • Conducting RCSA seminar annually
    • Compiling of Risk Handbook as and when required by the Head office
    • Compiling and submission of monthly / quarterly returns/MIS to the Regional Head office & Head office
    • Liaison with the Audit Team at Regional office and the Risk department at Head office
    • Any other job assigned by the CRO

    Qualifications: 

    • University Bachelor’s degree in any of the following: (i) Commerce (ii) Accounting (iii) Auditing (iv) Risk Management.
    • Possess knowledge of South African Banking regulatory environment especially in liquidity, capital, and risk management 
    • Possess knowledge of traditional risk management principles and practices. 

    Preferred Qualification: 

    • Qualification in Risk Management. 

    Experience: 

    • At least 2 years’ experience in Risk function of bank and 4 years’ experience in banking sector.
    • Experience in tools and techniques for the evaluation and presentation and maintenance of strategic and operational risks.
    • Good understanding of Basel II & III and risk management issues.
    • Good understanding of financial markets, financial instruments, and current issues.
    • Liaison with the SARB frontline or supervisory team (Preferred).
