    Raw Material, Waste, and Forklift Manager

    Description

    RPO Recruitment's client (a plastics company) is urgently seeking the expertise of an experienced Raw Material, Waste, And Forklift Manager in Cape Town, Western Cape.

    Responsibilities:

    • Collaborate with procurement and production teams to ensure timely availability of required raw materials.
    • Monitor inventory levels of raw materials, anticipate shortages, and facilitate reorder processes.
    • Implement effective inventory control measures to minimize stockouts and excess inventory.
    • Develop and implement waste disposal strategies that comply with environmental regulations and sustainability goals.
    • Coordinate waste collection, segregation, and disposal processes, minimizing environmental impact and optimizing recycling efforts.
    • Maintain accurate records of waste generation, disposal methods, and associated costs.
    • Manage a team of forklift operators, providing training, guidance, and performance feedback.
    • Ensure safe and efficient operation of forklifts and other material handling equipment.
    • Implement and enforce strict adherence to forklift safety protocols and best practices.
    • Arrange routine emergency and preventative maintenance of forklifts.
    • Perform safety inspection of forklifts prior to being released back to the work floor.
    • Analyse and optimize material flow processes to enhance productivity and minimize downtime.
    • Collaborate with production and logistics teams to schedule material deliveries and pickups to meet production schedules.
    • Continuously monitor and evaluate operational processes, identifying areas for improvement and implementing solutions.
    • Stay up to date with environmental, safety, and transportation regulations related to waste management and forklift operations.
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, conducting regular audits and inspections.
    • Collect, analyse, and interpret data related to raw material consumption, waste generation, and forklift utilization.
    • Generate reports to provide insights into operational performance, trends, and areas for improvement.
    • Collaborate with procurement, production, quality control, and maintenance teams to optimize raw material usage and minimize waste.
    • Coordinate with external vendors for waste disposal services and material deliveries.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, logistics, environmental science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
    • Proven experience in materials management, waste management, and forklift operations, with [X] years in a supervisory or managerial role.
    • Strong knowledge of environmental regulations and waste disposal practices.
    • A solid understanding of forklift safety protocols.
    • Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
    • Proficiency in using inventory management software, waste tracking systems, and Microsoft Office suite.
    • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Ability to work collaboratively across departments and communicate effectively with external vendors.

    Benefits

    • Salary: R450K/yr - R500K/yr, salary negotiable
    • Paid Time Off (PTO)
